To ask where you're going this summer

Need some inspiration on places to go this summer. Where are you planning on going this year? Just thinking about the sun makes me happy in this horrid cold weather Grin

Not really squirrel. A week for me, DH, our 2 DC, my friend and her 2 DC (their mates) in one of the expensive lodges (4 bedrooms, big kitchen, games room) plus bike hire and a few activities costs a similar amount to a week away in the sun for just the 4 of us. Neither of my DC nor my DH can tolerate heat and are happy in a pool/cycling etc so it suits us well.

we cant do abroad as kids cant cope because of disabilities

between march and september we have 3 holidays planned with haven in different parts of england

we have never done haven before so we are hoping we will like it,we have always done park dean, butlins or resort parks like lego land etc

last year we had 16 holidays, they were for 2 days and 4 days at a time

as we home ed we go term times and its only roughly £200(or a bit over)for a family of 4 in the deluxe caravans for a 7 day holiday,no food as we go self catering

when we were doing the 4 days breaks with park dean it was £70-£100

we will probably do more breaks though as we just decide on a whim and book days before we go

Orkney. Always wanted to go. V excited about it.

Mummyshark2019 · 18/01/2019 22:03

Hester, you read my mind. I don't know whether it is best to book until after Brexit. Probably safer to. We don't know what will happen and things will be disrupted when it comes to travel most likely? What does everyone think?

VenusClapTrap. Oooh would love to go to Orkney.

MajesticWhine · 18/01/2019 22:07

Have not decided yet- possibly Italy. Went to Croatia last summer - it was fabulous.

soupmaker · 18/01/2019 22:08

We're doing Valencia for 10 days, flying out on 30 April. Brexit or no Brexit. Hope to do Dorset or somewhere in Scotland in the summer.

RayRayBidet · 18/01/2019 22:09

Grado in Italy, it's an island near Venice. It's gorgeous!

neversleepagain · 18/01/2019 22:11

A week in Cornwall.

IckleWicklePumperNickle · 18/01/2019 22:14

stinkypoo · 18/01/2019 22:18

Not his summer - too unsure about work etc with Brexit, but hoping to take DD5 to Lapland/Finland for a couple of nights in December.

Charmatt · 18/01/2019 22:22

The Western Isles/Outer Hebrides. We love it there and have been going there for the past 5 years after touring he islands off the West coast of Scotland

Jaimx86 · 18/01/2019 22:26

Three weeks in the Cyclades: Mykonos, Syros and Tinos.

MercedesDeMonteChristo · 18/01/2019 22:32

We have Prague, Hampshire and Turkey this year.

MintyCedric · 18/01/2019 22:37

This beautiful cottage in Yorkshire.

Went there in 2017 and had a fantastic week with DD. Road trip there and back...Betty's in Harrogate, shopping in Sheffield, Bronte Parsonage, cheese tasting in Wensleydale, Sunday dinner on a canal boat.

We're due to go last year but had to cancel as bought my house...I can't wait

mindutopia · 18/01/2019 22:39

I’m taking my 6 year old dd on a girl’s weekend away. Not sure yet where we’re going but either to Copenhagen or to either Barcelona or Lisbon. The latter two obviously involving more sun and beaches.

pineapplebryanbrown · 18/01/2019 22:42

I'm going to an isolated cottage in Wales with a hot tub in the garden with the adult DCs and my 2 dogs . And maybe a farmhouse in Scotland with my parents.

Just don't fancy going abroad this year.

Following year I feel Eastern Europe beckoning. Would like to go to Norway but skint so maybe Poland, Sopot looks nice.

pintsizedblondie · 18/01/2019 22:44

Mexico in May for two weeks post SATs (stressed Y6 teacher here! 🙋‍♀️ 😂) and a 3 night break in Krakow in August.

Muddlingalongalone · 18/01/2019 22:44

CynsterBitch · 18/01/2019 23:00

A week in Italy (Cinque Terre) with a couple of girlfriends
A week in Greece with my DM, treating her for her 60th
And hopefully a holiday with DH if he gets his act together and books some time off this year

Aragog · 18/01/2019 23:03

We've just been to Valencia for a week. There was lovely - nice mix of city and beach, and grew if you like to be able to walk everywhere.

We are also having a couple of nights in Malaga in February.

Purpleboy · 18/01/2019 23:09
