As the title says is it just me who can lose 2.5 stone and maybe squeeze a size down??? I want to go from a size 20 to a 16 and I know I need to take at least 5 stone off to achieve that! Whhhhyyyyyyyy??????

I think there is more between sizes once you get past a 16 or so.
I keep losing and gaining the same 5 stone. Unfortunately I need to lose 10 Blush
I find my size varies between a 30 and a 26 depending on my weight. So 5 stone is only four dress sizes.
I would imagine there may only be 7lbs or so difference between a 6 and 8 though.

Sleepyquest · 17/01/2019 18:18

I lost 4.5 stone and went from a 20 to a 16. I was not overjoyed lol

Pjsandbaileys · 17/01/2019 18:22

It just seems do unfair 😔 dropping a size is such a boost and for those of us on the more generous side could probably bdo with the boost lol good luck ladies!!!

No, its not just you. I've lost 2.5 stone in the last 6 months, and I've only gone down one size too. I think it depends on your body shape and how much you exercise (i'm training for a marathon so while I've lost fat, I've put on muscle), and what sort of clothes you wear. For example, if you tend to wear stretchy leggings and jersey tops then its probably easier to squeeze yourself into a smaller size than if you wore more fitted clothes.

When I was a size 14, I used to have a big "muffin top" hanging over the top of my jeans, and would have "back fat" poking out of the edges of my bra. My size 12 jeans fit comfortably with no overhang when I sit down, and I can wear fitted tops without worrying about back fat or being able to move my arms freely. So clothes fit me a lot better even though I've technically only gone down one size.

Fontofnoknowledge · 17/01/2019 18:55

I lost 2st 6 and have gone from a 22 to a 16 (bottoms) baggy 18 top 😊

AmyFl · 17/01/2019 19:21

Pissed OFF

MyKingdomforaNameChange · 17/01/2019 19:23

I went from a 13 stone size 16 to a 10.5 stone size 12. I'm 5 foot 6.

newnameforthis7 · 17/01/2019 19:27

That happens to me... I am short (5 ft 2) and lose a dress size every 10-11 pounds. So yeah, by 2 and a half stone I will drop 3 dress sizes.

Sorry! Blush

Are the people (including the OP) who don't drop dress size much, quite a bit taller?

HeyJupiter · 17/01/2019 21:41

I’m 6ft and would need to lose 2.5-3stone to drop a size or so. Very frustrating. Does mean I can put on a lot without it really showing as much (not that this is a good thing for my health!)

Chouetted · 17/01/2019 21:52

I put on 6 stone and went up three dress sizes.

I'm very tall.

I've lost two stone since, and I'm still wearing the same dress size. Frustrating!

Jengnr · 17/01/2019 21:55

There’s a bigger jump top end. It’s fucking shite.

Concentrate on knocking down the numbers for now then when you brave a smaller size you’ll probably be in it.

Good luck. You can do it!

Dumbie · 17/01/2019 22:12

Yanbu. I lost 50lbs and dropped from a small 18 to a small 14.
I'm 5ft 10. Does height make a difference then?

Kpo58 · 17/01/2019 22:21

Of course height makes a difference. Loosing 2 stone when you short means that you are loosing a larger % of your body mass compared if you are tall.

JaceLancs · 17/01/2019 22:25

It’s not just height
I am an hourglass and carry weight everywhere so big arms legs body etc
I need to lose about 1.5 stone to go down a size
My SIL is an apple with skinny arms and legs if she loses a stone she goes down 2 sizes!
I’m taller as well

AlannaOfTrebond · 17/01/2019 22:27

I'm 5'10 and 16kg (2.5 stone) weight loss has taken me from a 16 to a 14. Admittedly a much more toned 14!

Pjsandbaileys · 17/01/2019 22:44

Ok I'm almost 6 foot and under the ripples a long forgotten hourglass so maybe that's it. It still bloody frustrating though however I guess the upside is I can gain a bit and not really show it 😬

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 17/01/2019 22:47

I'm 5 ft 3 and a few years ago I lost almost 4 stone... only went down one size. I just stopped bothering eventually.

nevermorelenore · 17/01/2019 22:57

It can also depend on where you lose weight. I tend to lose it around my waist and face first. It’s nice, but means it takes a while to go down a jeans size as I still has plenty of extra weight around my bum and thighs. Makes it difficult to buy trousers and it can be demotivating when I’m stuck at the same size for ages.

Endofrelationship · 17/01/2019 23:00

Oh yes. I can loose 2 stone and just he more comfortable in my current size!

TyrionLannistersShadow · 17/01/2019 23:03

Yeah it's crap lol, I lost 4 stone and only went down 2 sizes, from an 18 to a 14!

Asta19 · 17/01/2019 23:17

On the flip side, I put on 3 stone due to medication and only went up one size (I am tall). So the reverse is true also. I need a way I can lose the excess but keep the new boobs! Went from an A cup to a C cup and finally have a cleavage! I never had a cleavage before!

ohtheholidays · 17/01/2019 23:17

I've lost 2 stone and dropped from a size 22 to a size 16,I'm only 5ft 5 and I've always been an hourglass shape so I think where I carry my weight is what's made the difference to how many dress sizes I've dropped.

FeminaSum · 17/01/2019 23:30

I'm 5'3", 10 stone and a size 10/12 in most places (top/bottom, very pear shaped). At 2 stone lighter I'm an 8/10 - I lose weight from my stomach and legs but my hips don't get much smaller. The lighter I get the more pronounced the difference between hip and waist measurements. So I agree that it has more to do with proportions than height.

LegallyBrunet · 17/01/2019 23:39

I lost three stone and went from a size 16 to a size 10 but I carried all the weight on my stomach and bum. I’m five foot four.

CrazySheepLady · 17/01/2019 23:44

I'm with you, OP. I've lost over 3 stone but only dropped two sizes. I've yo-yod a couple of times over the last 10 years and have some loose skin. That's what seems to be keeping me in my current size clothes, unfortunately. Longing to be able to afford plastic surgery.
