5foot5 · 16/01/2019 16:53

I don't have to think about it everyday, just once a week. We plan our meals a week ahead and shop accordingly.

Tonight is Veggie Chilli with brown rice and guacomole

dogmum0 · 16/01/2019 16:54

Veggie fajitas!

SandysMam · 16/01/2019 16:54

Yep it drives me insane! My family expect something lovely every night, if it’s boring they tut and moan!!
Tonight is chicken in a Lloyd grossman creamy sauce with new pots and broccoli. Not too much effort hopefully as i’m not feeling great tonight.

GrumpySausage · 16/01/2019 16:54

Aubergine and beef bake. Like a lasagna but with layers of aubergine instead of pasta. Then put a layer of soft cheese on top. (Stole it from a slimming world book).

Wait, is that a Mousakka?

BobbinThreadbare123 · 16/01/2019 16:55

I do a plan for the week. Tonight is orzo with peas and pancetta, a la Nigella. It's fast and it's delicious and it is nice the next day as well, for packed lunch.

PeridotCricket · 16/01/2019 16:55

Yep, drives me mad always being the one doing the thinking about it. After a few times of asking DH, him saying I don't mind, so me just doing whatever...he now at least puts some thought into an answer.

Have stuff in the freezer for lucky dip nights. Pre cook when I'm feeling motivated. Have a bit of a plan for the week.

EBearhug · 16/01/2019 16:55

My mother used to ask each of us (Dad, sister, me) to make 2 different meal suggestions the night before she went shopping.

Tonight is roast tomato, spinach and goats cheese risotto

Baked new potatoes with rosemary. Garlic and sea salt, pork loin roared with chutney and red onions, a sort of bubble and squeak thing I fashioned out of left over spinach, cabbage and some broccoli, with a tea spoon of harissa and some seasoning.

pilates · 16/01/2019 17:03

Yes I hate it. Chicken mash and peas tonight.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 16/01/2019 17:03

Fishcakes and salad - trying to cut back on bigger meals midweek since Christmas.

FoofFighter · 16/01/2019 17:04

Chicken Kiev but served on spaghetti so it gets all coated with the garlic butter, salad as ran out of broccoli that would normally serve with

PrimeExample · 16/01/2019 17:06

I go through phases like this, too. Sausages in gravy with mash & peas last night. Gnocchi bake thing with chorizo & broccoli tonight. Treading water until we can do salads again!

Thesearmsofmine · 16/01/2019 17:06

Salmon, new potatoes and veg.

SnugglySnerd · 16/01/2019 17:08

We're having bangers and mash with carrots and peas tonight. Last night was spag bol, tomorrow is pasta with 7 veg sauce which is pre cooked in a big batch and frozen in portions. We meal plan and do an online shop for the week. Easy meals on nights we're home late, something more interesting on the days when someone is home earlier and at weekends. Start by writing a list of meals you all like then just choose 7 a week. Or 6 and a freezer night or whatever.

dreamingofsun · 16/01/2019 17:09

bolognese tonight, then chicken pasta bake tomorrow and next day either sausages and onion gravy or spanish chicken (stew with tin of toms, peppers, onions, chorizo)

Upthepong · 16/01/2019 17:11

Spinach fettucine, springs onions, walnuts and pesto with grilled salmon chunks on top (salmon grilled with oil, salt, pepper and lemon juice), with steamed broccoli on the side.
Twas lovely and both small children ate the lot and asked for more.

abitoflight · 16/01/2019 17:13

Tenderloin of pork with garlic and apple and onion sauce
Roast cauliflower

Tomorrow is beef bourginon

londonloves · 16/01/2019 17:16

Pork casserole with roast potatoes and parsnips and I'm going to sauté some mushrooms that need eating too. Casserole was made by my mum and is from freezer.

vampirethriller · 16/01/2019 17:17
