Griddled tuna steaks with Greek salad tonight.
Last night was Daal (cos of the daal thread) with baked chicken for DH.
Tomorrow will be spaghetti with lots of veggies, lemon and ricotta.

Kittykat93 · 16/01/2019 17:41

I love how on these threads no one ever has a fish finger sandwich or beans on toast or something crap like that like my dinner most nights

Lovemusic33 · 16/01/2019 17:42

I meal plan and write up a menu for the kids so they know what’s being cooked each day. They don’t always eat what I eat so I often cook 2 different meals, dd1 is pescatarian, dd2 won’t eat anything wet (she has ASD) and I’m dieting.

At this time of year I tend to make more stews, soups and curries, I can live off a curry for a few days.

Lovemusic33 · 16/01/2019 17:44

Kitty we have fish finger sandwiches, the dd’s have cooked meals at school but like something warm for dinner so fishfinger sandwiches are often served once a week as well as pizza made from whole meal pita bread.

Coralnails · 16/01/2019 17:46

Frumpyknickers how do you make the salmon penne? As in what do you put in it?

I've looked for a nice salmon pasta recipe but they all seem to suggest adding broccoli which I don't fancy.

Ihatemyseleffordoingthis · 16/01/2019 17:49

@kittykat We have beans on toast on the regular. Food of the gods

Bloomcounty · 16/01/2019 17:50

Tonight it's mince round with some roasted veg (sweet potato, carrot, and peppers) and a pile of steamed brocolli and brussels, with extra gravy (cos we love gravy here).

Deedeeseesee · 16/01/2019 17:51

I meal plan a week in advance and only Monday-Friday as I play the weekends by ear! I will stick to the meal plan too.

Always try to do new things each week, tonight my daughter has tutor so we have burgers, oven chips and coleslaw as it's a quick lazy dinner. Yesterday we had Italian chicken sausages in pesto pasta, tomorrow we have chicken, leek and bacon pie with green beans and Friday Korean pork stew with sticky rice.

I tend to rely on traybakes with either roasted new pots, cous cous or rice and curries with the odd freezer to oven meal (we do love a Kiev, chips and baked beans night)

I use the Tesco recipe area of their website and search for stuff each week to keep things interesting. I right them into a note pad and change the things we liked/didn't like and what to do differently for future reference. The kids always moan they have too much chicken but then don't really eat any other meats!

WaxOnFeckOff · 16/01/2019 17:55

I love how on these threads no one ever has a fish finger sandwich or beans on toast or something crap like that

I have teenage boys - they usually have that for lunch type of stuff if they are at home. I would need a truck to deliver the amount of fishfingers it would take to give them as an evening meal :o

Accountant222 · 16/01/2019 17:57

Spag Bol for us, I've had workmen here all day, so needed quick and easy

beela · 16/01/2019 18:01

Omelette and salad (leftover lentil bolognese and penne for ds, who would live off pasta given half a chance).

I meal plan for a week usually so that I don't have to think about it.

fishonabicycle · 16/01/2019 18:03

Do weekly meal plan too: always have a roast, other meals are salmon tacos, chicken with corn slaw, pork with apple cider vinegar, stir fries, paella, south African chutney chicken, seabass with chorizo, chilli (veg or meat), meat or roast veg lasagna ...

Sexnotgender · 16/01/2019 18:04

Tonight was pork and Parmesan meatballs.

Lovemusic33 · 16/01/2019 18:09

I think I want to go to some mumsnetters houses for dinner, makes my food sound boring. I love to cook but my dd’s are very fussy due to having ASD. If I served up pork meatballs or sea bass they would cry (I would love to eat both).

Piebeansandchips · 16/01/2019 18:15

Tonight is tuna steak, broccoli, green beans, peas & new potatoes.

Singlenotsingle · 16/01/2019 18:18

Pie (steak and Stilton), mash, carrots and cabbage

Upthepong · 16/01/2019 18:32

Forgot to tell you what we've had and are having this week apart from today.

Fish pie
Osso Bucco and rice
Med veg puff pasty tarts and salad and advocado
Salmon, pesto, walnut and broccolli with spinach fettucine
Baked potatos, cheese and beans (Friday night staple!)
Liver, bacon and onions and mash spuds (yuck!, I will eat something else. This is a DH request)
Gnocchi, mushrooms and bacon and cheese. We are away this night at a holiday cottage, so plans are simple.

Hope some of this is inspirational.

Hiphopopotamus · 16/01/2019 18:45

Tonight is vegan mashed potato and gravy with mushroom sausages for me and chicken for DH. I’ll also have a pile of spinach on the side of mine!

Last night was tagliatelle in a creamy tomato sauce with spinach and aubergine.

Not sure what tomorrow will be yet - possibly burritos - meat for my DH and vegan ones for me! We tend to have variations on a theme between us

mumontherun14 · 16/01/2019 18:51

Tonight is jacket potatoes with tuna & salad. Other nights I usually do chicken fajitas, fish & potaoes, roast dinner (sunday), cajun chicken pasta (slimming world recipe), beef stew in slow cooker. Thursday night we've got in habit of a chinese takeaway. I usually make lentil soup as well on a Sunday which lasts a few days. My 2 teens are in and out at clubs so jacket potatoes with tuna or chilli, ham/cheese omelletes, french toast, lentil soup are good for nights when you need a quick tea and then cook more when I have time. Also trying to plan ahead for the week where possible as does save time & stress x

CherryPavlova · 16/01/2019 18:55

Tonight it’s cod in Parma ham on roasted Mediterranean vegetables.
Tomorrow it’s mushroom and chestnut risotto with truffle oil.
Friday I’ll do pie and mash to please my husband.

Ragwort · 16/01/2019 18:58

Kitty I expect those of us who have fish finger sandwiches etc don’t post on these sorts of threads.

I loathe menu planning, like others, how do I know what I will feel like eating in seven days time Confused, our plans frequently change so one or two of us might be out or late home,or just not fancy a ‘big’ dinner, I recently made a fabulous roast and was sitting alone to eat it!

Tonight I had left over chicken with leeks, mushrooms and cream. (Low Carb diet). DS had left over chicken in a stir fry with noodles, but said he would have preferred mine. DH is probably sitting in a nice pub having steak, chips and a bottle of wine - away on business!

Stompythedinosaur · 16/01/2019 19:05

Gammon and eggs
Chicken noodle soup
Prawn and soba noodles
Macaroni cheese
Homemade pizza
Dahl and rice

I have recently rediscovered my slow cooker and there are some lovely and easy recipes.

CharlyAngelic · 16/01/2019 19:08

Liver , onions , mushroom casserole, potatoes and broccoli.

TheSheepofWallSt · 16/01/2019 19:17

Midweek I make something fast as the toddler can’t wait very long after getting home from nursery.

Last night he had beans and cheese on toast with veg sticks. I had a packet of crisps when he was in bed.

Tonight we had pasta with roasted veg, lemon and garlic, followed by a Magdalena and strawberries. (he ate 4 pieces of pasta and all the desert).

Tomorrow it’ll be homemade chicken saag from the freezer with rice and salad/veg sticks.

Weekends I try and make more hearty stuff I know DS will eat- meatball bakes, sausages and mash, chilli, tapas picnics, roast dinners, beef and ale stew or lamb stifado. Have recently tried to into Vietnamese flavours at home but DS is having none of it...

Crunchymum · 16/01/2019 19:20

Fake Nandos tonight.

So chicken breast in Nandos medium spice marinade. With halloumi, salad and Slimming World rice that we all like.

Tomorrow will be lamb neck fillets, minted new potatoes and veg

Friday will be fajitas. Fajita Friday is popular in my house!! We do different ones depending on what we have in, it's going to be chicken this week though!!

Saturday I'm doing a small afternoon party for DC so I've got in some half price Pizza Express pizzas, garlic bread and salad-y bits. I'll do a one pot dish for evening (maybe a risotto) so whatever isn't eaten can be kept.

Sunday we're going to Rainforest Cafe for late lunch / early dinner for other DC birthday.

That's as far as I've got!!
