All that zoflora...so many chemicals...can't be healthy??

Ollivander84 · 15/01/2019 19:06

There is no need for that much cleaning though! And I speak as someone with virtually no immune system. I use bleach occasionally, hot soapy water and a eco friendly spray. The worst I get for chemical heavy stuff is bleach in the bathroom
I don't use anything anti bac at all and nothing in my house has ever made me ill
My consultant haematologist told me I was fine with bleach and hot soapy water

Hinchtrolls · 15/01/2019 19:07

@TheFuckfaceWhisperer maybe you should speak directly to the people creating/supplying these chemicals

So no discussing the influencers who's entire business is based on encouraging these hauls?

GloatyMcGloatface · 15/01/2019 19:13

wtf is a ‘grid’ and why does it matter if it’s grey?

This

pantyclaws · 15/01/2019 19:16

*The question you have to ask - is she hurting anyone?

No, she isn't.*

Overuse of cleaning products has been linked to asthma, allergies and recently leukaemia in children.

Let's hope her own child doesn't suffer.

Hinchtrolls · 15/01/2019 19:18

@RtIock lets be honest there are fads of people who follow and then it dies down for one reason or another. She may influence people but people aren’t stupid they may try these hinch hauls for a while and then just use what works for them in their own home. Tbh some of her cleaning hacks have worked and I can’t fault her. Her amount of cleaning products maybe accesive but that’s her thing, obsession whatever you want to call itX we all have unhealthy obsessions and we all aren’t perfect just in most people’s cases it’s posted all over social media. Personally I like her and that’s all I have to say!!

MistyMinge · 15/01/2019 19:23

I don't want to see the woman personally attacked, or, her personality and home picked apart. That's not fair. I do however think that it is irresponsible for someone who has such a following to influence people to use so many different cleaning products. We've fucked over this planet enough. It would be more admirable if she was encouraging 'green' cleaning and promoting recycling of all the plastic bottles she must get through.

Notmorewashing · 15/01/2019 19:37

Whatever she cleans is not dirty to start with !!!! With that many followers she should try and look at eco friendly alternatives and encourage reduced use of plastic

NuzzleandScratch · 15/01/2019 19:47

Can't comment on the cleaning products, but just looked her up on Instagram, and I can't believe people actually follow this inane rubbish! Her video today consists of her writing a to do list and then ticking off such gems as 'put away washing up', seriously?! Wow.

LikeACowsOpinion · 15/01/2019 19:48

I'm not understanding what there is to be jealous of?
She's a cleaner. She buys products, uses far too much of them and posts a picture or video of her doing so on Instagram.
People all over the world clean their homes every day, using said products. It's not a revelation.

The fact that she's drummed up a cult army of followers to watch her cleaning is beyond me - as is her being called an 'inspiration.' Is this really what is aspired to? To drag ourselves back to the housewife days of non-stop cleaning. It's not inspirational; it's degrading.
Not to mention damaging for those suffering with OCD.

The risk of respiratory diseases/general illnesses/damage to the environment from the mixture of chemicals that she uses is astounding also.

At the end of the day it's her life and if she wants to live out her days scrubbing and cleaning an already immaculate house? Bully for her; but to 'publish' her routine and concoctions to the public is irresponsible.

I'm certainly not jealous of her and stating my personal opinion of a woman who has made her self 'public' on an online forum doesn't make me a 'hater.'

LikeACowsOpinion · 15/01/2019 19:51

@NuzzleandScratch I just put a load of washing on and emptied the dishwasher - I expect my newspaper article to be published tomorrow!!

GlitterStick · 15/01/2019 19:57

That's the difference between me wanting to get doing something productive or sit watching Dr Who episodes instead laid on the sofa lol.
I watch them, it makes me want to get up and do it too.
I don't get the knocking if it helps people. That's a good thing.

raspberrycordial · 15/01/2019 19:59

Her child is going to catch every bug going once it leaves her house, it won't be used to any dirt or germs which in my opinion and is a fact if my grubby but healthy kids are any proof is a bad thing

pintsizedblondie · 15/01/2019 20:18

I used to follow her obsessively in the beginning and must admit I did go out and buy some of the products she recommended. However, I soon realised she seemed to be cleaning things for the sake of it, - who cleans their loo every day?! I've stopped watching now.

For what it's worth, I follow Mrs Hinch, barely use any chemicals can't stand air fresheners, don't use fabric conditioner either for starters it is possible to watch her and be motivated without blindly following everything she does.

@Hinchtrolls why is my intellect challenged?

Because I give a shit about the planet and our children's health? Okaaaay then. Hmm

I have never heard of her until now. 1.5 million followers because she cleans a lot? What am I missing?

GlitterStick · 15/01/2019 20:53

I'm on board with the concerned about the planet thing. I actively don't use lots of chemicals and am trying to limit plastic and single use plastic.
All those berating others though - what do you actually do?
Genuine question. We all do different things for our bit.
Do you snort at others using chemicals down their bog etc as you wouldn't dream of it but think nothing of jetting off on a plane to foreign climes and hot weather for example?

Hinchtrolls · 15/01/2019 20:58

@GlitterStick agreed

Ollivander84 · 15/01/2019 21:04

@GlitterStick I try to recycle, reduce waste, reduce plastic, I don't flush stuff that shouldn't be, I don't fly...
I try not to overuse antibiotics as well and finish the course, although I do have rescue courses at home if needed (I've had maybe 70 antibiotics courses in my life!)

loolooskip · 15/01/2019 21:07

My challenged interlect? Again, how/why is it 'challenged'?

What do I do? I buy from bulk stores where I can take my own jars/bags.

I make most of my food from scratch, most stuff I buy is local and not packaged in plastic and has a minimal carbon footprint.

We grow most of our food in months that we can. Picking off bugs (rather than using pesticides) is a full time job.

I don't use any harsh chemicals to clean our house or body.

I walk miles and miles a week to avoid using my car as much as possible. I even walk when it's -25 below.

Most of the clothes we buy are natural fibres and from ethical stores.

We send ds to a green school where learning to garden and grow your own organic and ecologically responsible food is actually a subject.

We do weekly beach rubbish pickups.

We try not to buy ds plastic toys.

We used cloth nappies and cloth wipes.

We're putting solar panels on our house.

We do monthly street clean ups in our area.

I could go on.

I could do more yes. But I'm doing as much as I possibly can do.

loolooskip · 15/01/2019 21:09

I realise that last statement was extremely contradictory. Must be that challenged intellect rearing it's ugly head again.

(I also realise I sound like a bit of a smug, crunchy git but I try not to come across that way irl. Grin)
