I'll start.

Céline Dion - Fly

Bloody hell, what a song. I only just discovered it today. The feel of the song and the lyrics are out of this world. Truly amazing. And extremely comforting if you've been through a child loss. Listen if you have the time Thanks

On a lighter note, Let's here it for the boy - Deniece Williams Grin

Oh god bedshaped!! That used to tear me up!!

Badman by Newton Faulkner too. Great bass line.

rightreckoner · 14/01/2019 08:12

Grin at Hazel Dean. We are so of an age Grin

Likewise Story of the Blues. Why don’t you hear that or Will You on the radio?

I think Follow You Follow Me by Genesis is an amazing song.

rightreckoner · 14/01/2019 08:15

Love Anchorage

Also the Bluebells Young at Heart.

GrouchyKiwi · 14/01/2019 08:28

A highly underrated band that everyone should know is The Cat Empire. Properly uplifting music. Sly is a favourite.

squashyhat · 14/01/2019 08:29

Let the river run by Carly Simon (theme to Working Girl)

IamFrauBlucher · 14/01/2019 08:31

Divine Comedy - A lady of a certain age
Space - Avenging Angels

We are 111 songs strong with a following of 10 folks. Please do keep adding and share the song list.

Rosie Vela - Magic Smile
Suzanne Vega - Caramel
Cyndi Lauper - All Through the Night (huge in the US; flopped here)
Taylor Dayne - Love Will Lead You Back (ditto)

MrsWillGardner · 14/01/2019 09:17

Anything by Delta Goodrem. She deserves so much more recognition across the world than she gets.

SearchAndDiscover1 · 14/01/2019 09:24

Gypsy - Lady Gaga

tellmewhenthespaceshiplands · 14/01/2019 10:05

Wow some ace tracks! OP I used to love that Phil Collins track (actually most PC stuff) but some tracks now I can't hear without thinking of American Psycho!
Will look at your Spotify list Smile

Mondeo love that Pet Shop Boys one, actually that whole album was great.

Another vote for Damn I wish I was your lover.

Going to add Hold me Now by Thompson Twins, Love Cats by The Cure.

A few summers ago DD, DH and I went to London for the day. On the tube back to Euston to start our journey home everyone on it was hot, packed in and grumpy. Then a chap got on with a proper old school ghetto blaster and turned it on, straight away you could see people's expressions of "oh Christ, really???!!". However a few minutes later to the sound of Gladys Knight and the Pips "Baby don't change" you could see smiles coming back, feet subtly tapping and chins doing that nodding to the music thing! It was a really lovely moment to a lovely song and really finished my birthday off perfectly! Chap in question got off same stop as us and almost when the entire same way (wonderful tunes still playing) and I really wanted to stop and say thanks but thought I'd look like a weirdo!

Branleuse · 14/01/2019 10:24

Jericho - Simply red

tellmewhenthespaceshiplands · 14/01/2019 11:09

Fallen down a wonderful music rabbit hole today...

Rent, Pet Shop Boys

LakieLady · 14/01/2019 11:21

I Saw The Light - Todd Rundgren

Once In a Lifetime - Talking Heads

CoughLaughFart · 14/01/2019 11:42

Another vote for Damn I wish I was your lover.

If we’re talking Sophie B Hawkins, can I throw ‘Right Beside You’ into the mix?

Also just listening to Kirsty McColl and could happily nominate most of her catalogue. People only seem to remember ‘Fairytale of New York’ and ‘Days’, but there are some real forgotten classics - ‘He’s on the Beach’ is probably my top pick.

Jody21 · 14/01/2019 12:01

Rest Stop - Matchbox 20

Second Chance - Shinedown

All or Nothing - Theory of a Deadman (Or anything else by them really!!)

CoperCabana · 14/01/2019 12:04

I would add, if we are talking Pet Shop Boys:

It couldn’t happen here
Kings Cross
Jealousy

HunterHearstHelmsley · 14/01/2019 12:07

Drops of Jupiter by Train
Affirmation by Savage Garden

TrickOrRuddyTreat · 14/01/2019 12:11

Running Up That Hill - the Placebo version

Anything by Matchbox 20 - Rob Thomas writes beautiful words and has a fantastic voice.

ForalltheSaints · 14/01/2019 12:18

Squeeze- Some Fantastic Place. The best song they have ever written, and they have written many excellent songs.

minionsrule · 14/01/2019 12:20

Anything from the album 'The Hurting' by Tears for Fears.... some songs are so moving when you listen to the words especially The Hurting and Memories Fade... not sure if either of those were released as singles but imo they should have been

winobaglady · 14/01/2019 13:09

Will give the spotify list a go. Why not, eh!

Branleuse · 14/01/2019 13:46
