Inspired by this thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/3473658-sexiest-coolest-job-for-a-partner

What is the sexiest/coolest accent for a spouse.

I think the sexiest is French, the cutest is Swiss.

XingMing A Russian speaking English fluently induces quivering;

This!

I love the Spoken Russian language but English spoken with a Russian accent is so incredibly sexy.

cragfastsheep · 15/01/2019 09:51

Northern Irish for me too (but I'm biased because DH is from there)
Welsh comes second

MonsterTequila · 15/01/2019 12:03

@Dieu I’ve never heard one that I could stand, so I am going to generalise it.
@katekat383 ofcourse that’s your reaction judging by your other posts 🙄.

katekat383 · 15/01/2019 12:07

??

DarlingNikita · 15/01/2019 12:36

Russian, Northern Irish, Geordie and Mackem.

PQ77 · 15/01/2019 12:44

I know it's not the point of the thread but it's pretty disheartening to read that the accent I speak with is one that people "can't stand" and is "awful". Does that mean if you hear me speak your toes are curling and you aren't listening to a word I'm saying? I've lived in London for 15 years but my accent isn't going anywhere, it's just how I am and I can't help it. But am feeling a bit down about it having read some of the nasty comments here Sad

Flyingfish2019 · 15/01/2019 14:45

I like you accent @PQ77.

Manchester or newcastle or scotland
Not midlands or wales or glasgow

PQ77 · 15/01/2019 14:47

@Flyingfish2019 - you’ve made my day!

PierreBezukov · 15/01/2019 15:05

Russian, South African, Southern American (especially Texan/ cowboy accent) and of course, Northern Irish. Liam Neeson has the sexiest voice ever.

katekat383 · 15/01/2019 15:14

Like Jamie Dornan’s NI accent too - especially when he is beardless!!

katekat383 · 15/01/2019 15:14

Thought this thread was about UK accents???

katekat383 · 15/01/2019 15:15

NI accents are hugely popular, it seems. Awwww

beanaseireann · 15/01/2019 19:53

Liam Neeson is on an ad at the moment for Water safety in Ireland. It's now a Northern Ireland accent / Mid Atlantic accent combined.
Very soft.

Unobtainable · 15/01/2019 21:55

DarkingNikita nice to see some appreciation of the Mackem accent. I get confused between that and Pitmatic & Sunderland.

RoboticSealpup · 16/01/2019 07:21

Of, I forgot German. Grrrr.

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 16/01/2019 07:24

Turkish accent, Istanbul especially from a more softly spoken man

Really when it says the OP likes a french accent Hmm

isthismylifenow · 16/01/2019 07:31

I too love an Irish accent.

I live in South Africa, and yes I am totally biased that I just love DPs accent, he is from Cape Town. His voice is so smooth and goddamn sexy. I don't live in CT unfortunately but there is vast difference in accents across the country.

For those that think its like nails on a chalkboard, well yes Leo DiCaprio did a total hash of that accent in the Blood Diamond. That was definitely not sexy.

blockChainStrategy · 16/01/2019 07:34

DH (my preference) has a nice RP accent. Not unlike Jack Whitehall's father. Definitely has an air of confidence and authority. I like that in a man.

DarlingNikita · 16/01/2019 10:30

Unobtainable, yes, I love a Mackem! Used to work with one, which got my ear in and stopped me calling everyone from the north-east of England a 'Geordie' Grin

LinoleumBlownapart · 16/01/2019 10:40

I love Irish or Scottish in a deep voice. Lovely. DH is Brazilian, his accent is very sexy. Brazilians speaking English is only sexy though if they don't try to sound like Americans, but many Brazilians seem to want to do this. They think they sound American, but to English speakers it sounds like they have a speech impediment.

anappleadaykeeps · 16/01/2019 10:56

Portuguese.

It's not just the accent, but the choice of words and phrases.

I once was asked out by a Portuguese colleague, after a project we were on together finished. I didn't say yes, as the feeling wasn't mutual. He was a good friend, and a nice guy, but just not my type.

But I kept the voicemail ......

Think South European charm, but without any sense of arrogance. i think he asked if I would do him the honour of having Saturday lunch at the Oxo Tower one weekend. Saturday lunch = very clearly not a work-related lunch, but equally none of the pressure of a Friday or Saturday evening first date.

KellyanneConway · 16/01/2019 11:00

NOT posh RP English - such a turn off, who wants to shag Jacob Rees-Mogg? (someone obviously as he has 6 kids, but not me). I like DH's soft Manc accent.

bubbles1960 · 16/01/2019 11:26

Woah so much hate for my kiwi accent! I never knew It could be such a turn off for the Brits. Luckily I'm married to a Frenchman :)
Also, French say the English (or maybe it's my NZ accent) pronunciation of French is very sexy.
