Inspired by this thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/3473658-sexiest-coolest-job-for-a-partner

What is the sexiest/coolest accent for a spouse.

I think the sexiest is French, the cutest is Swiss.

Irish, both North and South.

Gwenhwyfar · 14/01/2019 20:32

Not a partner thing, but I like very light Scouse accent. I think there's a woman who has one on Woman's Hour.

HelloDarlin · 14/01/2019 20:34

ivegotthree, what does it mean though? The letters RP?

whilethechiefputsshineonleith · 14/01/2019 20:35

1.Northern irish
2.Newcastle
3.liverpool

TheHumanSatsuma · 14/01/2019 20:36

Belfast, ‘cos that’m my husband’s accent and he’s lovely.

katekat383 · 14/01/2019 20:37

Does Sheffield have an accent?

Yes! Alex Turner has it when he’s not speaking in a mid-Atlantic twang. Lol

katekat383 · 14/01/2019 20:37

Morningside, Edinburgh.

Richard E Grant's accent. I suppose it's like a more modern version of RP. Very proper, very English, but quite neutral.

YahBasic · 14/01/2019 20:42

DH spent his childhood growing up between two countries, so has a very sexy, slightly gravelly South African-Australian accent.

justnippingin · 14/01/2019 20:51

A soft Irish accent is lovely.

BlimeyCalmDown · 14/01/2019 20:58

I love Southern Irish accent.

South African accent sounds similar to Australian to me.

My boyfriend unfortunately has a Croydon one!

HelloDarlin · 14/01/2019 21:29

Thanks, NJ. I’ve heard of it before, but wasn’t sure exactly! I imagine it to be that nice accent that Bridget Jones & Mark Darcy have?
Also there is another English accent, it may be Home Counties or suburban London, where there’s a question mark on the end of every sentence. That has a name too!
Lived in London centuries ago, and noticed all of the different accents. And the London media voice / Sky News presenter thing where an R is added to the end of a word / name. And an actual R in the middle removed. And an R at beginning never being a hard R.

Battytwatty · 14/01/2019 21:37

My DH Has the Manc’s accent ever. Love it

LanaLily11 · 14/01/2019 21:41

Scouse for me Blush

PawPawNoodle · 14/01/2019 21:57

Mr Noodle has a deep home counties accent, gives me the tingles.

Littlegreyauditor · 14/01/2019 22:02

Another Nordie here surprised by all the love we’re getting on this thread. I agree with treaclesoda we should set up a premium rate line advising on mundane things or reading Seamus Heaney for you all.

I volunteer DH for it, his accent is great - south Derry (not Derry City). He’s a shocking culchie and when he gets animated it just kills me.

LightDrizzle · 14/01/2019 22:04

1: Irish! Eire, not Northern Ireland.
2: French
3: Italian
4: Geordie

Bishalisha · 14/01/2019 22:04

Scouse and redneck Blush

expatinspain · 14/01/2019 22:07

My DP is Spanish and his accent super sexy!

NK1cf53daaX127805d4fd5 · 14/01/2019 22:07

Glaswegian. Makes me go weak at the knees!

ToffeePennie · 14/01/2019 22:09

My husband goes nuts when I switch to “northern Irish” (I’m incredibly good with accents and lived there for over 3 years and developed the accent naturally)
I like a welsh or Scottish accent.

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 14/01/2019 22:10

My favourites are NI, Geordie or Manc

scarbados · 14/01/2019 22:17

I've had a bit of a thing for Welsh accents all my life. So what did I go and do?

I married a Brummie. Grin

Andallwaswell · 14/01/2019 22:35

Northern Irish definitely. DP puts his NI accent on thicker when he’s in trouble and it works every time!
