Inspired by this thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/3473658-sexiest-coolest-job-for-a-partner

What is the sexiest/coolest accent for a spouse.

I think the sexiest is French, the cutest is Swiss.

DH has a gorgeous Irish accent. Glad I’m not the only one that appreciates it Grin

That said, I can barely understand a word of what some of his family say...

VampirateQueen · 13/01/2019 00:23

I love a Scottish accent.

SecretWitch · 13/01/2019 00:25

I had a boyfriend in my twenties from El Paso, Texas. I could have eaten his thick southern drawl with a spoon😍😍

EmeraldShamrock · 13/01/2019 00:31

Newcastle not so much the males but I could listen to a female Newcastle voice all day, I love it.

binkyblinky · 13/01/2019 00:45

Welsh. Closely followed by Northern Irish. Love them both

dellacucina · 13/01/2019 00:49

This is amazing! When I first heard a northern Irish accent I thought it was dreadful, but it's really grown on me recently. I thought this was idiosyncratic on my part.

My DH has a lovely deep voice and a RP accent which really reeled me in.

KC225 · 13/01/2019 00:51

South African accent is like fingers down a chalkboard

ernestandjuliogallo · 13/01/2019 00:56

Norn iron all the way!

AGnu · 13/01/2019 01:01

Irish Aidan Turner, Southern US Reginald D Hunter, the cast of NCIS: NO, most country singers, Canadian, Welsh... I'm also rather partial to a Jamaican accent... Oh, & Mexican. Or probably pretty much any central/south American, especially if they were speaking either Spanish or Portuguese.

DH is English & really bad at all the above accents... Somehow any attempted accent ends up being Indian. Confused

policeandthieves · 13/01/2019 01:03

Totally amazed by the love for the NI accent - have one myself and spent many years in England being mocked, derided and generally having the piss taken - including by a policeman.
I think its been rehabilitated by James N among others though as always used to be the bad guy but less so now.

JimCricket · 13/01/2019 01:04

I love a Dublin accent 😍😍😍

dellacucina · 13/01/2019 01:09

Oh, and creepily enough, my first intro to norn Ireland was probably Jamie Dornan in The Fall Blush... though I now also have some friends from there so the appeal is a bit less creepy!

Stroller15 · 13/01/2019 01:13

Yes to SA being like fingers down a chalk board! I'm Saffafrican and it sounds terrible, people can tell I have an accent when I only say 'yes'. I do also love an Irish accent, an Irishman can do no wrong in my eyes.

YouGotRedOnYou · 13/01/2019 01:47

When I heard Michael Fassbender speak in his natural County Kerry accent I got and instant wide on. He'd definitely get the ride.

LellyMcKelly · 13/01/2019 01:56

My DP has a very deep voice with a Scottish accent from somewhere outside Glasgow. Sometimes when he’s talking my knickers spontaneously combust.

HotelRedFace · 13/01/2019 01:59

A soft Black Country accent makes me go weak at the knees. My first love who I lost my virginity to was from Wolverhampton and his accent made me melt.

AmIthatbloodycold · 13/01/2019 03:17

I love Manchester accents

And a western isles accent, especially if they're gaelic speakers, their accent in English does it for me Blush

pineapplebryanbrown · 13/01/2019 03:33

Northern Ireland - very sexy accent.
Also Russian accents are super sexy and butch.
But most of all i love a really old fashioned dyed in the wool London accent.

Scottish, Welsh, Oz, NZ and SA is a cats bum face from me.

Returning2thesceneofthecrime · 13/01/2019 03:40

French. But I married an Aussie.

sashh · 13/01/2019 03:41

Lancashire. And Manchester , Liverpool and Burnley are NOT in Lancashire.

I'll give you the first two but Burnley and Blackburn ARE in Lancashire.

For me it has to be an Irish accent, either side of the boarder, but I think it's the turn of phrase I like so much. Things like, "I'm going to do X, so I will" and how adults in NI still refer to their parents as 'Mammy and Daddy'.

If anyone wants to listen to a nice voice, Seth Andrews hosts 'the thinking atheist' podcast, it's not his accent but his actual voice, I could listen to all day. I don't care what he's saying, he could be reading a shopping list.

eachtigertires · 13/01/2019 03:48

I pretty much like any kind of accent. DP is Canadian and I am from Bristol. I only dislike two accents that I can think of right now which are South African (agree with the posters above - nails on a chalk board) and RP English - it just sounds so awkward and unfriendly to me.

Rocknroller85 · 13/01/2019 04:19

Liam Neesons accent works for me

champagneplanet · 13/01/2019 04:53

Definitely N Ireland accent wins for me every time.

Also the Russian accent can be quite alluring.

DH is from Liverpool, not too broad but enough to be able to tell straightaway where he's from!

Praguemum · 13/01/2019 05:22

Southern Irish or Scottish. Unfortunately mine has neither. 🤔

CheddarIsNotTheOnlyCheese · 13/01/2019 05:49

What is a wide on? Should I get one? Will listening to Hugh Grant saying "Bugger, Beastly, Bollocks and Bastard " help?
