Vogue Williams pumping and dumping

I thought this was an outdated practise yet Vogue insisted on her new reality tv show that she had to pump and dump her milk as she'd been out having a few drinks.

AIBU to think that it's irresponsible for Channel 4 to show this sort of nonsense?

Queen, don't be an idiot. James' piece was about mental illness.

dementedpixie · 12/01/2019 19:37

Pumping wouldn't get rid of the alcoholic milk though. Fair enough if it was for comfort but it wouldn't have helped make the alcohol content of her milk any less.

honorariam · 12/01/2019 19:37

@Huffleypuff @dementedpixie @Zebrasinpyjamas @Xmastummyhasgonebig understand what I'm saying.

To be clear: I don't have a problem with dumping milk

What do you have a problem with then?

AhoyAhoy · 12/01/2019 19:39

Had to google vogue Williams. Was expecting a cousin of Venus.

Louiselouie0890 · 12/01/2019 19:40

She probably couldn't be bothered having to educate a bunch of trolls that will run down her throat if she didn't dump.

Puggles123 · 12/01/2019 19:40

She even said it’s just as for her, personally, she found it made her extremely uncomfortable otherwise. People want breastfeeding normalised, but also moan when someone mentions it on telly Hmm

honorariam · 12/01/2019 19:41

I don't have a problem with it if you're away from baby and it's for engorgement purposes but she clearly said she didn't want baby Teddy to have the alcoholic milk and that was why she was pumping.

It's totally unnecessary as as a PP said, just puts more pressure on new mums who are watching this shite (guilty as charged!) because i guarantee there are women out there who now don't think they can have a relaxing glass of wine while their baby sleeps or partner takes over for a bit etc, without whipping out the pump and getting rid of it.

I'm assuming that it makes her feel less guilty about drinking while bf. Some people are naturally more cautious than others. For example when my kids moved into beds, they didn't have bed guards. Their low beds were against the wall on one side and I assumed that there would be the odd fall. Some people sleep better knowing that their kids have a full length bed guard.

MrsJayy · 12/01/2019 19:41

Is it the drinking and bf that is bugging you ?

BartonHollow · 12/01/2019 19:43

Her body, her baby, her business

Momasita · 12/01/2019 19:44

I didn't know who she was, I used to casually watch made in Chelsea. I can't belive how different Spencer seems with vogue! So respectful and humble..

MrsJayy · 12/01/2019 19:44

But that is what she thinks vogue isn't some role model just because she had a baby maybe she doesn't know what you pointed out and thought she was doing the right thing,

SemperIdem · 12/01/2019 19:45

Maybe she wasn’t having “just a few” drinks and actually got fully smashed off camera.

MrsJayy · 12/01/2019 19:46

And again her milk to do what she wants with

Stephisaur · 12/01/2019 19:47

But maybe Vogue doesn’t realise you don’t need to dump it?

Wouldn’t exactly be convenient to store to take home though and it didn’t look like much fun leaving her friends to pump in the loos.

TulipsInbloom1 · 12/01/2019 19:47

I would hope most people who BF wouldn't rely on a reality show to give them facts about it.

Maryjoyce · 12/01/2019 19:48

Does anyone care what someone we have never heard of does or dosent do ?

cherrryontop · 12/01/2019 19:49

Maybe she had nowhere to store it/keep it cool/didn't want to put it in her handbag?

Maybe her boobs were sore so needed to relieve it but didn't need to/couldn't keep the milk.

Why do you care? What is the problem?

MrsJayy · 12/01/2019 19:49

You couldhave tweeted vogue and tell her she doesn't have to D&P that would have been a kind thing to do for a new mum or she could just read a random slagging her off

BathshebaKnickerStickers · 12/01/2019 19:49

OMG even if you breastfeed you get criticised for not doing it right....

MrsJayy · 12/01/2019 19:51

Maybe the woman was full and didn't want to say that on telly

BitOutOfPractice · 12/01/2019 19:54

I had to pump and dump (ugh. What a horrible phrase) when I was working.

And who on gods green earth is Vogue Williams?

honorariam · 12/01/2019 19:54

Yes, yes: like I've already said, if you're engorged, knock yourself out! If you just fancy chucking some down the drain, go for it! But don't allow totally incorrect information to be shared with young women who will think you're right!

@TulipsInbloom1 that's EXACTLY where some new/ future mothers will get their information!
