I like Daenerys but I’m hoping for Jon Snow to get his happy ever after, and Arya too :)

My favourite is Tyrion. Witty, intelligent and kinder than most in Westeros.

Honeyroar · 14/01/2019 06:49

Yes I like Tyrion too, and Jaime, although he started all this mess by pushing Bran off the wall!

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 14/01/2019 07:05

That trailer!! They can do what they like to Jon but leave Arya & Sansa alone.

MyOtherProfile · 14/01/2019 07:45

Thanks @MischiefManagedAlways

TimeIhadaNameChange · 14/01/2019 10:23

Think I may have to get a Now TV subscription for the duration. Don't think I can wait until it comes out on DVD! But will Now TV carry them as they run, or will there be a delay?

Bittermints · 14/01/2019 10:30

I've watched the last two or three series on NOW TV. No delay. You could watch the 2am transmission if you were sufficiently obsessed, I think, as I watch on catch up first thing on Monday morning (I don't work on a Monday, fortunately!)

TimeIhadaNameChange · 14/01/2019 10:43

Thanks, Bittermints, that's really good to know. As there's only 6 episodes then, if they're still doing the 14 day free trial by then I'll only have to pay for one month, which is fantastic!

LaurieMarlow · 14/01/2019 11:06

I subscribed to NOW for the last series and I'll reluctantly do it again.

They know that ppl sign up purely for GOT so they don't have the good offers on when it's out.

They're also a total pain in the arse to use. It won't work on chromecast or anything like that and I could only get it to function on one of our laptops (DH's that he uses for work unfortunately).

Bastards.

BartonHollow · 14/01/2019 11:08

Interesting that the focus was heavily on Jon with the two sisters as his support...

@OneInAMillionYou

Yes! Not met many who've heard of them

Bittermints · 14/01/2019 11:10

We didn't have a smart TV two years ago but we do now, so I've got everything crossed that it works on that. On my laptop I got it to work on Firefox. I struggled to get it to work on Chrome or Edge.

ABigBraclet · 14/01/2019 11:15

That trailer, tho'...

Cupcakecafe · 14/01/2019 11:24

Are they stood in the crypt in front of themselves? If they are does that suggest all three will die?

Cuddlykitten123 · 14/01/2019 11:30

I just want to see the wolves!
Arya leading Nimerias giant wolf pack into battle. And the jon/Ghost reunion! ....do you think Jon would be able to convince Ghost to get onto the back of a dragon?

OneInAMillionYou · 14/01/2019 12:22

Sorry for off thread moment..

@BartonHollow

I adore them. Saw them live at the Union Chapel and was gutted when they broke up. John Paul still making good music though.

BartonHollow · 14/01/2019 12:30

@OneInAMillionYou

So Jealous - was upset but not surprised they'd split, singing with a beautiful woman with whom you have obvious chemistry has got to strain a marriage.

ABigBraclet · 14/01/2019 12:39

I can't understand the recent dislike for Dany.

OneInAMillionYou · 14/01/2019 12:41

All sorts of rumours, but never confirmed by either of them. JPW now very vocal about his family life...

Back to GoT, do we think Nymeria will find her way back to Winterfell and Arya? I will sob my heart out if so.

OneInAMillionYou · 14/01/2019 12:43

ABigBraclet

It's interesting, I was a big fan of Dany until S7 then gradually found myself going off her, don't really understand it myself...

Flanuary · 14/01/2019 12:50

I can't understand the recent dislike for Dany

Honestly, I’ve disliked her from the start.

SweetSummerchild · 14/01/2019 12:51

Not particularly looking forward to the next season, I hate to say.

Season 7 was an absolute car-crash. The whole thing has been going steadily downhill since season 5.

I’ll be glad to know the ‘ending’ but have a horrible feeling that, despite all the hype, it’s either going to be sickly sweet or a bit like Lost where you’re left wondering why the fuck you watched it in the first place.

I’ve lost all hope of the books every being published. We’re more likely to get Fire and Bloody part 67 and another million short stories about Targaryan princes that no-one cares about than Winds.

I still think Tyrion is going to betray Dany and end up being roasted by dragon fire. I can pretty much cope with antying else the series throws at me as long as I get to see that.

Yamayo · 14/01/2019 13:10

Dany' s original story arc was compelling- the young girl used and abused by all around her who finds strength and courage and takes control of her own destiny.

However, ever since she freed the slaves she's shown herself as a useless leader and as she's getting closer to her goal of taking over Westeros she's shown increasing signs of tyrannical tendencies. She's capricious and unpredictable- originally she wanted to break the wheel of power and 'free' Westeros, now she's burning armies and resources and has been as destructive as Cersei.

Not exactly a heroic leader IMO. Plus it's getting a bit repetitive 'I'm a Targaryen, I was born for this, blah blah blah'.

Yawn.

LaurieMarlow · 14/01/2019 13:15

I agree with a lot of what you're saying sweetsummerchild (great UN)

However it will be an ending. I'd bet significant money it'll be the only ending we get (heck I'm pretty sure we won't even get another book out of George Hmm)

And I'm looking forward to some kind of closure, even though the storytelling skills of D&D don't in anyway match up to George's.

Yamayo · 14/01/2019 13:16

I'm puzzled by the fan hatred of Sansa. I've always liked her, books and TV.
She's faced so much shit- she's not a superhero (à la Arya), she doesn't have dragons, she just survived.

I also don't get why people think she doesn't like Jon. She was overjoyed to see him and she supported his claim when he became King in the North.
In the seventh season she kept saying she wished he was back in Winterfell and the first thing she thought of when Arya came back was how pleased Jon would be.

I think she's grown up a lot and has had consistent character building throughout the series, unlike a lot of others.

Snapsnapsnap · 14/01/2019 13:21

Book and tv Dany lacks the charisma and complexity of the other characters.

I've always liked Sansa, and love Sophie Turner's interpretation of her. She's a much more realist depiction of how a noble girl might behave in this set of circumstances than all the medieval Lara Croft types. And she has eventually sharpened right up.

CheerfulYank · 14/01/2019 13:23

Ahhhhh my people.

I don't even care who wins anymore, I just want Sansa and Tyrion married for real.

And badass little Lady Mormont still alive.
