I like Daenerys but I’m hoping for Jon Snow to get his happy ever after, and Arya too :)

Tommen’s suicide was the only gasp worthy moment of the entire series.

Must admit I am thoroughly disinterested in the book and how it ends at this point. I say that as someone who was reading the books before the tv show existed.

agirlhasnonameX · 12/01/2019 23:35

Am I the only person who doesn't think Bran is the night King or that he will warg into Bran? Considering he seen Bran at all I don't think he needs Brans powers and is probably already equipped enough. I hope I'm right too tbh it would kinda annoy me if this ends up being true.
I do kinda think Bran is Bran the builder though.
A PP said Varys could be a faceless man which would be cool but doubt it, faceless men don't partake in politics so wouldn't make much sense.
Don't know why all the hate for Arya she is a wee badass I love her and of course she is different now after all she's been through, they all are!

EwItsAHooman · 12/01/2019 23:37

I've lost interest in the books because there's only so many times you can reread something before it becomes stale. I'll still buy Winds Of Winter, I can't not buy it, but fuck me can Martin not write any faster!? I'm sure I've read rumours that Neil Gaiman is going to finish the series if Martin becomes unable to for whatever reason.

SemperIdem · 12/01/2019 23:42

Ew

He’d have finished it a lot faster if he hadn’t spent years fancying around with all the side bits. To think it’s been going since 1996 and isn’t done, over half a decade since the last book was published 🤨

EwItsAHooman · 12/01/2019 23:47

He does seem to have a lot of time for cash cow side projects.

UsedtobeFeckless · 13/01/2019 00:15

I think he's milking all the spin-offs while the interest's there - DP is convinced he's actually finished the series and is just sitting on the manuscripts so he can get all the pointless froth published whilst the going is good ... Git.
Give it to Gaimen!

BartonHollow · 13/01/2019 00:20

Two theories on George

1 - He's become pissed off with the show and its producers (rumoured) and has deliberately delayed the books even though they are done so they have amazing stuff in the show can never do. Total Fuck You to Weiss/Benioff

2 - He has got Writers Block and is basically waiting for them to write the end so he can write their version as prose with a few embellishments because he's lazy and bored

Both options plausible

OneInAMillionYou · 13/01/2019 02:40

Re Varys mentioned above.. That conversation with Melisandre referenced " this LAND" not ISLAND, that is, Westeros, not simply Dragonstone.
So he and she will both die in Westeros at some point.

Feel I have to defend my girl Arya. Yes, she has become a bad ass killer, but because of everything she has seen/that has happened to her.
She has a true sense of what is fair, or right. Even as a trainee Faceless Man, she wouldn't kill Lady Crane, even knowing that it would mean she herself was in danger.

She has learnt that no one can protect or save her, so she has to do it herself. Her father was beheaded before her eyes, she saw the aftermath of the Red Wedding, with Robb's headless body being ridiculed. She got to the Vale just in time to hear that her aunt, another potential protector, had died. I loved that moment where she burst out laughing.
My theory with her and the Hound is this, she refused to kill him when she could have done. I am really looking forward to her reunion with him. I loved that moment in S7E7 when he and Brienne were talking fondly and ruefully about her, how she has grown to not need their protection.

Her soft spot is of course Jon. Out of all the true born Starks, she loved Jon the most. She will be VERY wary of Dany!

Justagirlwholovesaboy · 13/01/2019 03:29

There’s still the whole the dragon has three thing to get around. One is obviously Dany, already ridden one and the proclaimed mother of them. Tyrion and Jon are the only others who they have allowed to touch them, which means Tyrion’s blood lines are questionable (already been suggested). Since one of the dragons is now of the undead I think it will be Jon riding it, this would bring meaning to why they killed him off and brought him back. Somehow these three dragons acting together with their riders will defeat the Night King

Should have read three heads

But Jon will have to die (again). Saving Westeros with a bittersweet ending...

witchhazelblue · 13/01/2019 07:38

About Ellaria Sand - is she actually dead? Cersei poisoned her daughter in the cells and told Ellaria she had to watch her die and her bones crumble but I don't recall her saying what would happen to Ellaria herself. I assume just left to rot in the cells? But when you don't see an on screen death in GOT you never know!

I like Arya but I hope nothing bad happens to Sansa. She's had the most interesting character arc for me. Remember how much the fans hated her silly girly ways at the beginning of the show?

Lolly49 · 13/01/2019 09:38

Jaime will kill the night king he is known as the kingslayer after all.
This time he will be loved for his kingslaying title.
Could not care less what happens to Daenerys hateful little despot.

Trills · 13/01/2019 09:46

I don't FEEL that Ellaria Sand is important. She may just be never mentioned again.

Same for Gendry. I don't think he's going to reappear and play an important role.

Trills · 13/01/2019 09:51

How about:
Sansa and Dany decide they're done with men
Rule together
Arya as their enforcer
Lyanna Mormont as general of their army
Brienne heads up the Queensguard

They'l need a spymaster and someone to handle the money (Arya would be a good spy but I don't think she has the people and admin skills to be in charge of a network of spies)

As a side note, it's easy to type Dany, but has anyone SAID "Dany" since Viserys died in S1?
Maybe the first person to feel safe/familiar enough to call her Dany is her true love.

Morgan12 · 13/01/2019 10:04

No Cersei doesn't want to kill Ellaria. She said she will force food down her throat and she has to stay in the cell with her dead daughters corpse forever.

Savage.

witchhazelblue · 13/01/2019 11:07

That is savage! But very Cersei.

Holidayshopping · 13/01/2019 11:09

Doesn’t Jon call her Dany in the last series and she says that no one has called her that since her brother.

sproutlove · 13/01/2019 11:24

Did Yara Greyjoy survive? I can't remember.

sproutlove · 13/01/2019 11:25

Bran could warg into a dragon.

gunnergirl · 13/01/2019 11:25

hoping they don't turn round and say it was all a dream by Ned stark!!!!!hope that Jon snow makes it to the throne with Aryan by his side also Jamie and brienne to get together

sproutlove · 13/01/2019 11:26

ohh perhaps Bran wargs into the ice dragon and kills all the white walkers!

Yamayo · 13/01/2019 11:29

I was disappointed with last series.

A lot of 'realistic' plot points introduced and then dropped.
For instance the food issue- Sansa is shown carefully stocking up in preparation for winter while Dany is warned she doesn't have enough to feed her armies.

Yet a couple of episodes later everyone cheered while dragon burned up all the food the Lannisters had just stolen from the Tyrells- cos it looked epic and dramatic.

They've also all invested in good teleporters- they cover distances that took weeks in previous series in a few days at most.

It's all turned very fan fiction hasn't it? The pretty 'goodies' Jon and Dany are suddenly randomly in lurve and ready to fight the zombies....

The proper Martin story should be Dany turning Targaryen- mad (which she had shown signs of doing throughout last season until the last couple of episodes).
Curveball as she is the pretty heroine that everyone fancies.
Takes the food Sansa had saved up for the North cos she can, then kills (or tries to) Jon when she realises his claim to the throne is better than hers- he's the heir, she's merely the sister of the dead king.

Never going to happen. The showrunners have totally bought into the fanfic themselves.
I live in hope though. It would make for epic TV.

Disclaimer- I hate the dragons. I totally shared Jaime and Tyrion's dismay and horror during that battle. To me they are the equivalent of Cersei and her wildfire.
The death of Sam's brother was horrific.

Trills · 13/01/2019 11:33

Hah.

Show how much attention I was paying.

I'm rewatching the early seasons, and then I think I have an original thought but I'm just remembering something from S7?

agirlhasnonameX · 13/01/2019 11:38

Totally agree with @Yamayo about the last season. Suddenly random plot points that should have been brought in seasons ago, pointless scenes of Dorne, teleportation, esp Varys, things that didn't make sense at all and as soon as the dragons went over the wall you knew what was going to happen. The whole thing suddenly felt very Hollywood, really hope they bring it back for the last season.
GRRM hated it, so hoping that when the books eventually get back on track he will make up for the show and the ending will be very gritty and sad and none of the theories will be true
