Stolen Bin thread

ichifanny · 10/01/2019 10:22

I have one of the larger council issued bins as I have 4 children , my neighbour also does though their bin is far older as they have grown up children .
I clean mine after each collection with bleach etc so it’s still fairly new looking .
I realised last week we have a stinking mouldy one instead now so been watching on bin collection day and realised my neighbour has swapped them over .
Now this could be a mistake I highly doubt they haven’t noticed theirs is now cleaner and bigger , so today is the day I’m getting it back . The man next door can be strange so I’m relauctant to approach him to ask for it back as I think he won’t back down so I’m just going to do a swap as soon as they are emptied , currently lying in wait .... wish me luck .

*Our bins always get emptied a day later when there's been a bank hol. NYD was a bank hol so instead of Thursday our bins will be emptied Friday.

Does this not happen in anyone elses area?*

Ours takes about three weeks to get back to normal. Our collection day is Friday, so simce Christmas we have had two Monday collections and this weeks is on a Saturday.

Quite efficient I thought, as years ago you could wait two weeks over Christmas

You must must must promise to come back and tell us what happened.
I have told my DH and DD about your bin saga and your CF neighbour and we all need to know what happens.
Please please........don’t forget about us😳

Notwiththeseknees · 10/01/2019 18:19

My CF neighbours pinched my lovely clean bin. After I re-appropriated it DP made me a beautiful big bin sticker with the house name on it. Looks v.v. posh. And in- nickable! Grin

Notwiththeseknees · 10/01/2019 18:20

^ un-nickable obvs.

ichifanny · 10/01/2019 18:44

Haha fennella i’ll be back I’m glad my boring maternity leave exploits are interesting to someone . Husband has inspected bins and declared it’s definitly ours as it has scrapes in the same place he remembers from opening it beside the house as it rubbed on the roughcast so feel a bit more sure about my bin aggression .

Bin and parking threads are a joy to our lives.......we don’t get out much!!

PaddingtonBearHardStare · 10/01/2019 19:43

Our bin day is normally Thursday but has been changed to tomorrow as they still aren't caught up after Christmas collection changes!!

wictional · 10/01/2019 20:02

Can you chain the wheels to anything?

BitOutOfPractice · 10/01/2019 20:33

Can you chain the wheels to anything

Like yourself!

brighteyeowl17 · 10/01/2019 20:41

Label the base. We did this, someone stole it, we went out and tipped the one over we knew it was! No one checked the base they had just removed the sticker on the side.

badlydrawnperson · 10/01/2019 20:44

I clean mine after each collection with bleach etc so it’s still fairly new looking .

Am I the only person in the world who doesn't do this?

maddening · 10/01/2019 20:48

Have to get Chris packam to do bin watch overnnight

ResistanceIsNecessary · 10/01/2019 20:53

Oh I bloody love a bin war!

We have 4 bins; ours are a mixture of new and shiny and old but well loved Grin All are nice and clean. I caught a neighbour "accidentally" wheeling one away not long after we moved in. Lots of jovial laughter at the mix-up (yeah right).

Ours are all nicely labelled now with these We found a supplier on eBay and it was a couple of quid for 4 stickers.

Disfordarkchocolate · 10/01/2019 20:54

Get yourself a bin lock, no point in stealing it then. Good luck in keeping possession.

FiveNightsAtMummys · 10/01/2019 20:59

@badlydrawnperson I've never cleaned mine it's got a old pizza box mixed with a lump of mould / deadly disease stuck to the bottom for about 2 years.

Maelstrop · 10/01/2019 20:59

NChangeForNoReason · 10/01/2019 21:05

Shamelessly place marking for tomorrow. Blush

tillytrotter1 · 10/01/2019 21:20

Can you get the stencils we had in Germany 40 years ago for painting onto wheelie bins? They looked great, our was like a meadow growing from the bottom.

Reccy2018 · 10/01/2019 21:33

Shameless place marking again!
