Stolen Bin thread

I have one of the larger council issued bins as I have 4 children , my neighbour also does though their bin is far older as they have grown up children .
I clean mine after each collection with bleach etc so it’s still fairly new looking .
I realised last week we have a stinking mouldy one instead now so been watching on bin collection day and realised my neighbour has swapped them over .
Now this could be a mistake I highly doubt they haven’t noticed theirs is now cleaner and bigger , so today is the day I’m getting it back . The man next door can be strange so I’m relauctant to approach him to ask for it back as I think he won’t back down so I’m just going to do a swap as soon as they are emptied , currently lying in wait .... wish me luck .

Yeah it will likely be filthy so will clean it and number it up , annoyed at my day being taken up watching out for a bin lorry .

I cant go out till i know bins back where it belongs. Hurry up bin men.

glitterfarts · 10/01/2019 11:57

check the council website - our collection was a day later this week due to the new year public holidays.

ichifanny · 10/01/2019 11:57

I know I can’t even cancel going out as it’s an important appointment for the baby

Our council have given us a week for collection not the specific day , see if I come back and bin has been collected and he’s taken it away ..

Whatabloodymessthisis · 10/01/2019 12:01

I have never in my life cleaned my bin and now I really want a nice shiny bin which will be the envy of the street ... but there’s lots of old funk stuck in the bottom which I don’t want to get involved with :(

I’ll never be a clean bin person.

MountPheasant · 10/01/2019 12:03

Well done for writing on it!

At least you can comfort yourself that if you do have to go out, and if your bin is stolen when you get back, you can go and claim it back now you’ve sharpied it.

God I love a bin thread.

Andjustlikethat · 10/01/2019 12:04

If we have leakage in our bin that we've caused then it gets blasted with the pressure washer but we rarely need to do that. Other people's filth in my bin would make me heave and I'm normally a fairly level headed person.

ichifanny · 10/01/2019 12:08

Ok they went out so sharpied under lid too will give me leverage should they say it’s theirs Wink

We’ve got a company (one man and a steam cleaner), that comes round on bin day and cleans your bins for a couple of quid a pop.

FreshlyWashed · 10/01/2019 12:09

I admire your courage, OP.

ichifanny · 10/01/2019 12:09

Yeah loads of bleach and a pressure wash , you need to be careful it doesn’t spray detritus up in your face though .

OP posts:
ichifanny · 10/01/2019 12:11

I can be a prickly sort sometimes if pissed off Freshly , on fairly good terms with all neighbours so don’t want to be a complete dick .

I bet the bastards argue with you on this... even though they must know it's not their bin because it's smaller ! Cheeky fuckers

sparklyllama · 10/01/2019 12:12

Whatabloodymessthisis I am the same; but I now buy wheely bin liners from Amazon. Changed my life and I now have a really clean bin. Smile

FenellasRedVelvetDress · 10/01/2019 12:14

Just out of interest did you know that if you clean the inside of your bin out then you should phone the local water authority to find out which drain you should put the dirty water into.
You can’t just let it go into the general water system - ie down a drain at your home, or a drain at the side of the road.
This is why legitimate bin cleaning companies carry two tanks of water - one clean and one dirty.
Just thought I would throw that into the mix.........

Got to say though.....I’m loving this thread. I can’t get over the utter cheek the neighbours nicking your bin. They must have known because the large family bins are quite different from your normal bin. New year CF’s aren’t they.

Is that the bin wagon I can hear??

ichifanny · 10/01/2019 12:15

Yeah summers I don’t think this will be the last of it wish me luck in doing my nice neighbour but don’t fucking mess personna .

Horrordoeurvres · 10/01/2019 12:17

My work mate is having the same issues with her CF neighbours!
Shameless place marking so I can keep up with this thread - she ended up putting her house number under the bin lid, on the front of the bin and on the underside just in case they covered the ones on the front or side.

If it continues I'd set up a wee camera and catch them in the act

summersoonplease · 10/01/2019 12:17

You let them have it if they get shitty!! And as you walk off flick ya hair and say btw your bin fucking stinks 😂😂
Come on bin men !! Feck sake

Shimy · 10/01/2019 12:21

Can i ask a question whilst we are here? when you wash your bin, where do you empty the dirty water and all the gunk in it?

ichifanny · 10/01/2019 12:21

Haha summers had a laugh at that , going for classy bin reappropriation .
