Stolen Bin thread

I have one of the larger council issued bins as I have 4 children , my neighbour also does though their bin is far older as they have grown up children .
I clean mine after each collection with bleach etc so it’s still fairly new looking .
I realised last week we have a stinking mouldy one instead now so been watching on bin collection day and realised my neighbour has swapped them over .
Now this could be a mistake I highly doubt they haven’t noticed theirs is now cleaner and bigger , so today is the day I’m getting it back . The man next door can be strange so I’m relauctant to approach him to ask for it back as I think he won’t back down so I’m just going to do a swap as soon as they are emptied , currently lying in wait .... wish me luck .

Result flesh . The woman next door is lovely but quite anxious , I’m reluctant to tread too heavily as I know she will get upset , she doesn’t take much to do with the bins .He seems to be the bin monitor of the house.

Or else I would have said ‘ Oi you have my bin fucker’ before now

I’ve got to go out with the baby at 1pm so this is time sensitive

OP You need self adhesive numbers from the Pound shop/Home Bargains.

Wotev · 10/01/2019 11:33

Binmen arrived yet?

ichifanny · 10/01/2019 11:34

Nope no binmen, sneaked out and sharpied my number on the side .

Sharpie on the inside of the lid. If it's a black bin it can still be read at an angle but isn't noticeable at a glance. You then have your proof.
Why are people wankers like this. Just makes life hard and tedious.

Antigonads · 10/01/2019 11:36

Come on bin men.

TheHobbitMum · 10/01/2019 11:36

Cheeky fuckers, they know what they've done so just blatantly take it back

Pk37 · 10/01/2019 11:37

Are they definitely coming today? Our bin schedule is out of whack because of Christmas and new year so ours is usually today but will be tomorrow and then back to normal next week (we got a schedule put on our bins before Christmas )

ChrisjenAvasarala · 10/01/2019 11:37

If they are different colours and size to his then it's bloody obvious it's not his. If they've not been collected before you leave then we you get home, just go and get it. Leave his on the pavement.

Stephisaur · 10/01/2019 11:39

Hope the bin men come soon!

Some fucker stole our replacement bin so I’m on constant alert for our SECOND replacement bin to be delivered (mon-fri 7am-6pm!) before someone pinches that too!

Glad you’ve stealth labelled it now 😂

Hereward1332 · 10/01/2019 11:41

If all else fails, you could be properly passive aggressive and stick his number on his bin while you have it. Then next bin day, he really cannot claim to have taken the wrong one. What a kind neighbour, numbering everyone's bin for them...

ApolloandDaphne · 10/01/2019 11:43

Bin Wars! My favourite.

GOTBackThisYear · 10/01/2019 11:43

Neighbour and I leave our bins out in the open (side of the pavement on a bit of common land) because it's too much hassle completely impossible to pull the full bins up the steep steps at the side of our houses and so far we've never had our bins nicked. This kind of stuff is nightmare. My bin is well looked after and it would be so easy to nick! Good luck OP!

ichifanny · 10/01/2019 11:44

Same colour bin but ours is bigger and has writing on it , there’s is smaller and covered in algae

Ooo love a bin thread

BrendasUmbrella · 10/01/2019 11:47

Ah, so not so much that they want a cleaner bin, they want a bigger one. Once you have it back go for it with stickers, etc, so they can't claim to get mixed up again.

Ariela · 10/01/2019 11:47

Do you have any label stickers? Write your number in bold, take just the sticker (no backing) out and slap it on your bin as you walk past it. They're a bugger to get off once the glue has gone off too!

CallMeSirShotsFired · 10/01/2019 11:50

The spray paint that roadworkers use to mark lines for digging up roads is excellent for numbering bins and recycling boxes etc.

Very weather resistant

Andjustlikethat · 10/01/2019 11:50

Just thought, what if they've made the inside of your shiny bin all skanky?

GOTBackThisYear · 10/01/2019 11:51

@Andjustlikethat bleach and hot water. Sorted.

WhoKnewBeefStew · 10/01/2019 11:51

Come on bin men I’ve got to go out in 15 minutes!

summersoonplease · 10/01/2019 11:55

Bin men bin men bin men !!! 😂😂
