Stolen Bin thread

I have one of the larger council issued bins as I have 4 children , my neighbour also does though their bin is far older as they have grown up children .
I clean mine after each collection with bleach etc so it’s still fairly new looking .
I realised last week we have a stinking mouldy one instead now so been watching on bin collection day and realised my neighbour has swapped them over .
Now this could be a mistake I highly doubt they haven’t noticed theirs is now cleaner and bigger , so today is the day I’m getting it back . The man next door can be strange so I’m relauctant to approach him to ask for it back as I think he won’t back down so I’m just going to do a swap as soon as they are emptied , currently lying in wait .... wish me luck .

I would have sent dh out at night to switch the rubbish over...

Andjustlikethat · 11/01/2019 08:36

We have these bin stickers from eBay just in case people wanted more choice, just put in bin number stickers. They're properly stuck on too, no bastard is getting them off.

I make car vinyl stickers. So I made a load of garishly bright flowers, bees and stars and stuck them all over our recycling bin.
Then the general rubbish black bin has “exterminate” all over it and doctor who tardis.
Then we have a blue bag, but it’s a horrible material, so I just sharpied that one.
No one touches our bins, even though everyone else in our street has lost theirs....

picklemepopcorn · 11/01/2019 08:48

Previous neighbour nicked ours more than once! When we moved in we were issued with a brand new blue glass box. Neighbour immediately snaffled it leaving us with her ancient one. After a year or so the ancient one broke so we requested a new one, which was promptly nicked again so we got our original one back. Honestly. Barking.

Littlemissdaredevil · 11/01/2019 08:49

Will your bin be emptied today or do they work Saturdays?

wombatron · 11/01/2019 09:11

@picklemepopcorn that is the most absurd thing 😂

@ichifanny I know you're on mat leave, so I assume you have a tiny human to take care of, but can you please not forget us over here.

Wotev · 11/01/2019 09:23

Update!

ThanosSavedMe · 11/01/2019 09:32

We need to know you’re bin has safely been rescued! Where are you op?

DaffodilPower · 11/01/2019 09:36

First thing I did when I got to work?

Checked this thread!!!

ichifanny · 11/01/2019 09:38

Bin emptied at school run time so bolted kids to school and ran back and grabbed bin and shoved it round behind my locked gate . Saw neighbour come back from work in his car obviously to try intercept bins and doorbell rang a few times . I ignored door and now away out so going to let it sink in a bit for him that the bin is MINE again 😀and can’t be bothered with the confrontation . Away out to get spray paint to start work on it .

So he obviously has developed some sort of entitlement over my bin in the 2 weeks he has had it . Hilarious .

Well done OP!
It’s shocking that cheeky fuckers, once caught and put right don’t go quietly. This twat actually had the gall to ring your doorbell to presumably ask you to give the bin back to him that he originally stole from you. The mark of a true CF!

Yinv · 11/01/2019 09:41

I’m ordering bin stickers now!

DaffodilPower · 11/01/2019 09:42

Hahahaaa this is brilliant!!

I can't believe he had the cheek to come around and ring your bell!!

Get it decorated nice and pretty, and make a note of the number etched inside the lid (you could perhaps call the Council and ask them to confirm which house it is registered to?).

Well done OP! Loving your super-stealth work (and even funnier that he came home but you'd beat him to it!)!

Yay to Bin-Wars!

LaurieFairyCake · 11/01/2019 09:42

I don't think you've heard the end of it from you. What a nobber.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 11/01/2019 09:43

He rang your bell, most probably to demand back your bin that he stole?
Bonkers

ApolloandDaphne · 11/01/2019 09:43

You have won that battle but I don't think the war is over yet!

MrsJDornan · 11/01/2019 09:44

I don't think he's going to accept that it's your bin, probably accuse you of taking his one

EnglishRose13 · 11/01/2019 09:45

I wish you'd answered the door!

ichifanny · 11/01/2019 09:51

Definitely not heard the last of it , I was a bit taken aback at the door going I’ve had time to practice my resolve though so will be ready when he comes back , he can just let it sink in that he isn’t taking my bin .

Snowydaysaregreat · 11/01/2019 09:53

I'd go round there and say. Sorry was feeding baby so couldn't come to door.. Is everything OK? Then Confront him
