To know it's all gone wrong night before 12 week scan?

I've had such a good gut feeling this entire pregnancy. Now my 12 week scan is tomorrow and I feel so numb because I just know the baby's dead. I know it's gone wrong. I can just sense it. All the threads I've read about mmc say that they just knew and that's exactly how I feel. The day before my scan. What a sick joke :( can these feelings ever be wrong? Sorry I know it doesn't belong here but posting for traffic I need answers or I'm going to do nothing other than cry all night. This can't be happening.

Hi @missymoon I am currently 21 weeks and I felt exactly like this before my 12 week and my 20 weeks! I even said to my OH after the scan I am so relieved because I thought they'd tell me she'd gone. She is currently wriggling away in my stomach as I type. I'm not saying it doesn't happen but our anxieties think of our worst fears and feed on them. Flowers good luck today and update us please, thinking of you! :)

Just saw this thread. Best of luck OP there is absolutely no reason why anything is wrong. It is just a feeling you have and nothing more. Anxiety and worry can really distort our rational thoughts and convince us what we are feeling/ thinking is true. Best of luck, deep breadths and tell them how anxious you are so they can get you in and scanned quickly xx

CliffordDanger · 10/01/2019 09:04

@WhirlieGigg the OP may indeed benefit from getting help with her anxiety for herself so she can enjoy the rest of her pregnancy and life in general, but to suggest her anxiety itself could harm her baby is very out of date and discredited. And really, really nasty in this context, on this thread. Shame on you.

Thinking of you OP
Some people love pregnancy, for me it was a constant state of worry and anxiety
I had my 12 weeks scan the day before my wedding.
I hope it all goes well for you OP

Worst advice ever
Do you know anyone that might have a fetal Doppler you can borrow for tonight? Might put your mind at rest. BlushBlush

Please don't.

Why? I had a doppler and used it every day during both pregnancies, it really put my mind at rest as I had had a miscarriage previously.

That feeling of dread that you have could be your nerves replaying your awful experience before, rather than being connected to this pregnancy. The mind can play unpleasant tricks like that. Good luck today Flowers

Sexnotgender · 10/01/2019 09:40

Thinking of you, hope you get to see a beautiful little baby on the scan. We all get anxious, I'm nearly 39 weeks and still panic things are going wrong!

So sorry to hear about your miscarriage Sad

There are a few reasons, this link explains
1 is that as an anxious mum, if you can't find the heartbeat as it might be too early or you are not an expert, the anxiety can get a lot worse
Another is that if you suspect something is wrong, like reduce movements, and use it for reassurance, it can have very bad consequences
Using a doppler for "fun" or to show your partner or something, up to you, but all the medical experts and organisations advice against

The link is much better than me! www.tommys.org/pregnancy-information/about-us/tommys-midwives-blog/word-us-home-dopplers
