Stub your toe. Stubbed little toe earlier on the table leg. Of course no shoes or slippers on to cushion the blow. Air very quickly turned blue Blush followed by toe turning a lovely shade of bluey/purple. Nice 9 hour shift later and it is bloody agony.

LegArmpits, I did that and still have the dent in my head.

Lvajazz · 10/01/2019 18:55

Electric sewing machine needle through your thumb-it hurts more taking it out! Standing on a nail in a piece of wood barefoot.

user1481793247 · 10/01/2019 18:55

Getting your thumbnail caught between two joints of a camp bed when it’s on the way down !!! Thought I was going to faint. Had to hold my hand up in the air for the next 90 mins cos everyone time I put it down it throbbed like buggery. Black nail followed and amazingly, it didn’t fall off Shock

blueangel1 · 10/01/2019 18:59

Talking of hearing things pop, I ruptured a disc years ago and heard it tear. It was OK for about a minute and then it was fucking agony.

llangennith · 10/01/2019 19:00

End of a long day doing DIY. Holding the nail between my finger and thumb and for some unfathomable reason deciding it would be better to hold the nail head still by putting my index finger on it and hammering said finger.
Intensely and excruciatingly painful.

Louiselouie0890 · 10/01/2019 19:00

My OH stubbed his toe except it was two toes and the skin in between your two toes spilt down his foot

ItchyAnkles · 10/01/2019 19:01

Wearing flip flops and a huge iron gate skimming over the top of your feet as it opens and lifting your big toenail up off the nailbed like a hinge. Horrific pain! Plus I get very queasy at the sight of my own blood so kept having to lie down so I wouldn't faint or vomit.

delboysskinandblister · 10/01/2019 19:01

Nasal injury Toblerone related

alwaysthepessimist · 10/01/2019 19:04

Oh my god these are making me want to vomit/pass out/since and close my eyes all at once.

My worst was opening a very heavy metal adult scooter but left my index finger right where the bit you stand in and the upright meet - split my bone lengthways, never lost the fingernail though!

expatinspain · 10/01/2019 19:04

I was cutting a sweet potato and the knife slipped. I cut my middle finger through the nail to the nail bed and sliced open the side of my index finger and thumb. I actually went into shock with the amount of blood. The pain on the finger sliced to the nail bed was horrific and throbbed for days 🤢

sideorderofchips · 10/01/2019 19:04

Slipping on the stairs and landing on your own heel

Falling between a bed and a cot

Falling off a desk at work in front of 30 year sevens....

IHaveBrilloHair · 10/01/2019 19:06

Blood gasses.
Getting a vent line stitched in.
Breaking my back.

Zoejj77 · 10/01/2019 19:06

Kicked a marble ledge (accidentally) and big toe nail flew completely off. Pain upon pain

WhoTookTheChristmasCookie · 10/01/2019 19:07

Having a totally incompetent junior doctor attempting to do an emergency lumbar puncture.
He tried and failed eight times. Each time I was receiving another injection of 'anaesthetic' which may as well have been water. Told him in no uncertain terms to get as far away from me as possible and let someone who knew what they were doing carry out the procedure.

Never ever felt pain like it and I have a fairly high pain tolerance due to chronic pain each and every day.

musicalprof · 10/01/2019 19:10

I could mention the plantar fasciitis I've had since spring (imagine constantly stepping on Lego)... or the staples used to 'sew up' my C-section scar turning the wrong way up & having to be dug out... or coming round from a hysterectomy to be told "God you've got a high pain threshold - we didn't need to top up your pain relief!" I didn't feel like I had a high pain threshold then... :(
But no - the worst has got to be trigeminal neuralgia, which luckily I have only had once, but which has to be the worst. Lots & lots of Flowers to any Mumsnetters who get it frequently...

Nicknackpaddywack16 · 10/01/2019 19:12

Toe stubbing can be incredibly sore....

I once used an epilator downstairs. The revolving metal bits yanked my labia straight into the device. Thats painful.

Ruddyfreezin · 10/01/2019 19:15

Instead of neatly placing it, having your doctor push the coil in and then straight through the wall of your uterus to the other side. Cue pass out in agony, blood pressure drop and 999 call. Ergh. Removal under GA after too much unwelcome internal prodding and poking 🤢

But standing on a plug defo 😅

Lvajazz · 10/01/2019 19:16

In my case wear safety goggles when cooking-twice I’ve stuck a fork in my eye!! I have no idea how😂😂

TSSDNCOP · 10/01/2019 19:17

Anything where you have to reverse the originally extremely painful thing so you experience it twice.

The other night at 3am I stepped onto a broken wooden coat hanger DH had left on the carpet. It was bad enough driving into my skin, but then I had to summon every ounce to pull it back out again. Vomit.

Ruddyfreezin · 10/01/2019 19:17

@musicalprof Flowers . I witnessed my little sister suffer TN as a toddler, she tore the skin on her face to shreds 😢 was awful to see, thank god she no longer suffers.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 10/01/2019 19:19

I’d say having a huggggge lump scooped out of your armpit while the surgeon says ‘tell me if you feel anything...’(ie when I hit a bit that’s not been anaesthetised).

SchadenfreudePersonified · 10/01/2019 19:20

Getting the bit between your thumb and pointer finger pinched by anything at all or bitten by your cat...

Or by your budgie stripper.

Many years ago, our budgie, Grumpy, got hold of me in that tender little web of skin and wouldn't let go, despite my screaming and swearing like a docker and shaking my hand furiously - I thought she would never let go.

It was agony and even after a quarter of a century I am ready to weep with self-pity at the remembrance of it . . .

userschmoozer · 10/01/2019 19:23

Oh reversing the painful thing - that reminded me that I once had a thimble fail and stuck a darning needle into my thumb nail bed. Then had to use pliers to pull it out.
I never use cheap thimbles now.

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 10/01/2019 19:23

The top 3 for me are labour for 36 hours, sitting bare-arsed on my very hot GHD straighteners and my dislocated shoulder popping back into place at 3 in the morning (I didn't know it was dislocated until I went to hospital for the pain!).

Lozz22 · 10/01/2019 19:23

The headache after a lumbar puncture. I thought I was going to die it was that bad!! By the 2nd day of vomiting constantly and screaming every time i moved or tried to sit up I actually wanted to die. 6 whole weeks I was like it. Second worse pain slipping in the bath and landing on the edge of it, felt like I’d broken my vag. I had the biggest lump on my groin and bruise going from my groin downwards to my knee and all the way back round my leg to my bum cheek. smashed all my lip in on the tap as I went down and even now 7-8 years later the top of my leg still looks deformed. That goes with my deformed neck after I nearly broke it at roller disco
