People who try and convert others to vegetarianism and especially veganism are just as bad as those who try and convert people to their religion.

I'm vegetarian. Would never dream of trying to convert someone else, that's what gives us all a bad name!

My sister converted me to vegan. It didn’t last though as my heart wasn’t really in it (though 5 years is quite a long time, I suppose). Why try to convert somebody that clearly isn’t into it though?

I have but not deliberately! I just answered questions when asked and didn't try to ram my views at them - that never works anyway.

I’ve converted plenty of vegetarians and vegans to eating meat, so same thing really.

If someone tried to convert me I'd explain that I have Coeliac Disease, IBS and Chronic Anaemia. If they didn't listen and continued to try and "convert" me, I'd cut them out of my life because they'd clearly be lacking in both empathy and sanity and I've had enough abusers and gaslighters in my life.

You'd be given very short shrift if you tried to convert me. I'm old enough to make my own decisions thank you.

People try and convert me to vege/vegan thing quite alot. I find it fucking tedious as I have literally no interest.

I’ve pretty much converted my dp as we eat (delicious home cooked!) Veggie food together at home. But he will have meat when we eat out.

Been vegetarian for over 30 years, never tried to convert anyone. Several younger family members are vegetarian now, I’ve emphasised to them eating enough protein as I didn’t know about that when I was a teenager. I have however had countless people try to convince me to not be vegetarian.

Here is a revolutionary idea. How about you let people make their own choices and stop forcing yours on others?

Is this a specific person you want to convert, if so, why them? Do they live with you?
Or do you just want to convert someone, doesn’t matter who, and again if so, why?
I imagine people often try to tell you how delicious meat is and what you’re missing by not eating it, and my guess is you find this annoying and it doesn’t make you eat meat. Maybe consider how equally annoying and ineffectual trying to convert someone to vegetarianism might be.

I wouldn't ever try to convert anyone tbh. It's a personal choice.

No. I’m not a vegan, but even if I were I would not attempt to ‘convert’ people because I’m not a sanctimonious self-righteous dickhead.

Why are there so many vague OP's around today?

I'm sure some do it on purpose so they return to a busy thread, with everyone asking the same question.
