Unexpected ham found in the freezing area.

We will still be eating Christmas leftovers for ages Grin

Today we had leftover bread sauce + leftover ham turned into croquettes for dinner, followed by Christmas cake.

There is still prob 3 dinners for 2 worth of ham in the fridge - will do ham and parsnip (yes over bought so kind of a leftover) hash then put rest of ham in freezer.

Cake still going strong as is pudding. There are 3x portions of duck and 2x portions of pork in the freezer.

And that is without counting the 2 massive toblerones, box of liqueur chocs, box of Raffaello, box of Green and Blacks and whatever crap DH bought at Lidl sitting on our Christmas table. That will be going well into Feb.

But the ultimate leftover is the duck fat - the last of that often gets used for the roast potatoes on the next Christmas day GrinGrin

Lots of bits. A few uncooked Brussels. Some red cabbage. Lots of cheese and crackers. A bit of mixed white fish. We catered for more than 10 people every day except Boxing Day so we have lots of leftovers!
In the freezer:

  • leftover turkey (enough for one big stir fry for whole family)
  • Leftover lamb tagine (same)
  • Leftover beef chilli

We managed to get rid of a lot today by having friends over for lunch.

Mince pies, cheese biscuits (no cheese except cheddar and dairylea though lol) we ended up throwing away a family size Marks and Sparks chocolate melt in the middle pudding.Cake

Went away to a friends holiday house so we didn't have much left over. I bought cheese in small packs, Parma ham, which I have left over. The salmon nibbles and little cheese tartlets went.

Have put the biscuits and sweets away as well as the booze. Panettone makes a wonderful base for a bread and butter pudding, very yum with slices of orange soaked in orange liqueur.

Christmas cake - I made it and it's gorgeous so no problem there. Some cheese, which I'm working through. We finished the Turkey and ham in a lovely Stephens day pie and the leftover lamb went into a Rogan josh which did 2 days. Finally, I had a monster soup making session yesterday to clear up odd bits - watercress, butternut squash and chilli, Turkey and veg, curried parsnip and Apple. I love leftovers!

None. As a childless widow I always visit others therefore I don't have to buy copious amounts of food. In fact from yesterday I was completely back to normal for which I'm thankful as I need to maintain the weight loss (just 7lbs to go) - it's been a rotten December due to dental surgery.

Bertiebitch32 · 02/01/2019 10:21

Loads. Enough Christmas treats e.g chocs to stock Sainsbury's. Lots of nuts crisps pretzels. 5 botles of wine, a crate of larger, a few various Christmas puddings. Various ice-cream. Sticky toffee pudding. Various frozen party food. 3 boxes of biscuits

PoesyCherish · 02/01/2019 10:36

Most of a box of Thorntons given to us as a gift
A box of biscuits again given to us as a gift
Half a chocolate cake
About 1/3 of a Christmas cake
Half a box of mince pies
1 pack of biscuits
Frozen beige food which will last for months
Half a block of cheese which will be used for various pasta dishes
A box of crackers

The cakes and mince pies will all be going into work with DP as I'm on a diet as of yesterday. I'm surprised we don't have more left but then again we did both put on several lbs over Christmas Blush

Sarcelle · 02/01/2019 10:42

Untouched bottle of sloe gin
2 big packets of crisps
6 bottles of wine

(Over the years we buy less and less. This year, apart from the turkey dinner, a few mince pies and Christmas cake, that is all we have have over the Christmas season. We are not killjoys, my DH and I have changed our unhealthy ways over the last few years and have got out of the habit of chocolate munching etc. It makes getting on the scales less of a shock!)

feelingverylazytoday · 02/01/2019 10:45

Strawberrypineapple I saw a 'dairyfree' cheeseboard in my local morrisons.

Expatworkingmum · 02/01/2019 10:49

We live overseas and I was thrilled to find a really big selection of Christmasy snacks in the supermarket - After Eights, selection boxes, Twiglets, Walkers Crisps and Matchmakers. We weren’t even here for Christmas to eat it so now I have a fridge full of junk food and I’m supposed to be eating healthily!

45andahalf · 02/01/2019 10:54

So much chocolate and sweets. Biscuits and icecream and desserts. Crisps and Pringles. No proper food though.
