pineapplebryanbrown · 31/12/2018 00:12

I have:
a small amount of Christmas cake
Half a Christmas pudding
One and a half tubs of brandy butter
Some cheese
Some Christmas ham - bin?

We finished all the chocolates and sweets today.

PickAChew · 31/12/2018 01:02

Actually completely forgot about the cake, until today.

TigerTooth · 31/12/2018 01:05

All the cheese and lots of the sweet stuff left because i'm the main cheese and sugar fiend and I got the horrible tummy bug on boxing day morning and spent 3 days on the loo!

pineapplebryanbrown · 31/12/2018 01:06

We have to remember this for next year! Less cheese, less cake, no panettone, more roast tatties, more stuffing, more pigs in blankets, no sprouts.

This year I bought no biscuits as i became a human shortbread last year.

OP posts:
pineapplebryanbrown · 31/12/2018 01:07

All our savoury stuff went by boxing day.

Kintan, Christmas is a crap time for Ill relatives.

3 yesrs ago, FIL HD just taken really ill.

2 years ago, mil was not so good, seemingly mulling over his death.

A year ago, we buried mil on the 28th, the loss of appetite having turned out to be cancer.

Thinking we need to turn Christmas plans around to spend with my parents, next year, as my dad hasn't been so well ;(

FortunesFave · 31/12/2018 01:11

Nothing! I buy what seems a lot but it gets demolished within 3 days.

pineapplebryanbrown · 31/12/2018 01:19

Fortune that means you buy the correct amount. How much do you think you spent on food, not booze, per adult?

OP posts:
pineapplebryanbrown · 31/12/2018 01:22

Per adult sized appetite (therefore 2 oldies, 4 toddlers or half an older teenager) i think I spent £30ish on food.

Lots, it's fab. We've been given a lot of posh biscuits this year, Christmas cake usually lasts until around easter, fridge still has a beautiful array of leftovers as we had a party last night. Bit of Christmas day ham left but that will be finished tomorrow. Cheese mountain in the 'emergency' fridge outside as didn't manage it Christmas day and forgot last night. Also still have Christmas day chocolate mints etc, and found the missing 'santa' choc oranges today that missed delivery!

tillytrotter1 · 31/12/2018 01:35

A few tubes of Pringles, some GF stuff bought for a guest and some red cabbage. I consider red cabbage to be the tardis of food stuffs, no matter how much is eaten it gets bigger!
Just polished of the last of the pudding, cold whilst I waited for my hot chocolate to ping and that's about all. There is a cake that hasn't been cut, I might save it for next year and a few mince pies I think, OH will eat those when he thinks no-one's looking!

NonaGrey · 31/12/2018 01:35

Nothing except chocolates.

I try only to buy what we will actually eat for Christmas Day. I hate food waste.

ohtheholidays · 31/12/2018 01:39

2 Unopened boxes of matchmakers,1 salted caramel and 1 Gingerbread,
Half a box of orange matchmakers,
nearly a whole tub of Quality street,
half a tub of celebrations,
all 4 Christmas cakes,
1/3 of a packet of dates,
half a tub of mixed nuts,
nearly a whole box of biscuits,
nearly a whole tub of spiced chocolate biscuits,
nearly a whole tub of Ginger bread hearts,
Some cheeses,
2 bottles of mulled wine
2 bottles of bucks fizz
3 boxes of different types of crackers
Savoury and sweet food in the freezer
Custard
Spray cream
Pickled onions and chutneys
A big pack of cheesy biscuits
Tons more alcohol
Lots of tubes of pringles
and I dread to imagine what else.

But I will lay on a massive buffet for NYE and I hope to get rid of lots of it then.

Bloodybridget · 31/12/2018 01:40

Very small amount of mincemeat which I will probably use for stuffed apples.
Quite a lot of cheese, but we will make significant inroads this week. I put some of it in the freezer.
Some salted almonds and cashews.
Most of a bag of veg crisps.
Half a box of Elizabeth Shaw mint crisps.
Some delicious Serrano ham that friends brought us from Spain; now we've started it we'll get through it quite quickly.
The only thing we bought that isn't that nice and we might struggle to eat is some "party food" from Iceland, prawns which mostly tasted of greasy batter, and some little Chinese-y nibbly bits.

MaMisled · 31/12/2018 01:42

Tin Celebrations
A ton of fancy cheeses x pate
5 large packs crisps
3/4 gateaux
A cheesecake
3 large boxes biscuits
3 fancy tins of biscuits

LavaLampLover · 31/12/2018 01:43

@MamaHechtick

Lindt bear and reindeer that DC's cry at the thought of eating

I've finally made my way through the head of the big sized Lindt bear my OH gave me.

It was so sad I took this photo after the first ear.

OP, I'm not meant to have dairy, and my OH reacts to it too so I felt lucky to discover my favourite vegan cheese brand make a Christmas cheese board. It has fake cranberry and whatever, something else medium I think and a fake blue. He loves Stilton type cheese. Of course, no one has eaten any. Except the kids who ate the tiny cheeses he bought for himself 😂😂😂

We didn't get much on because we movd over Xmas and were having lunch and dinner with each others families anyway on the big day.

to ask how much Christmas food you have left?
Bloodybridget · 31/12/2018 01:44

Oh and I forgot, some more sweet stuff people gave us that we don't really like, amaretti and something else similar. Will have to find someone else to give them to.

popcornwizard · 31/12/2018 01:52

I try only to buy what we will actually eat for Christmas Day. I hate food waste.

@NonaGrey - where does anyone say food it wasted? I fed 18 on Christmas day, correctly predicting the appetites of so many is impossible. Boxing day pie, party buffets, friends and relatives to entertain and a long shelf life for biscuits etc means not a thing gets wasted.

I may hide the chocolate though :-)

pineapplebryanbrown · 31/12/2018 01:56

Bridget amaretti biscuits? Yum, make tiramisu with them.

OP posts:
pineapplebryanbrown · 31/12/2018 01:59

Lava cheese gives me the snotters - what brand vegan cheese board? Was it as good?

OP posts:
DramaAlpaca · 31/12/2018 02:15

Far too much cheese - I love cheese but there's too much even for me
Too many chocolates
A lot of booze, mainly wine & posh gin
Almost a whole Christmas cake - DH will have eaten it by the end of January so we're OK there
An untouched Christmas pudding - but it'll do for next year Wink
We have eaten all the other leftovers though, and what we didn't eat was enjoyed by the dogs

It's my own silly fault, I'm still adjusting to shopping for three instead of five, after eldest two adult DC moved out earlier this year.

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 31/12/2018 05:59

We have a shameful amount left over - none will get wasted tho

Cheeses - too many to count the cheese box is overflowing however

Chocolate - again too many to count - from recollection 2 tubs in f hero's, celebrations, roses and quality street, 24 selection boxes , and bagfuls of tubes of sweets...

Christmas cake, and a chocolate salted cake bomb thing...

Loads of frozen beige party food and posh crisps.

Loads of anti pasti meats, olives, picked onions etc.

Massive glazed ham, and a huge joint of beef, all of these will be cooked tomorrow at out NYE party, making curries, steak pie, slow cooked gammon with fresh baguettes etc...roughly for around 40 people

Tattybear16 · 31/12/2018 06:13

Too much to list, I’m ashamed of myself, I never learn. Years of having hardly anything, and now I can afford it I go overboard. It will be going to a foodbank where it will hopefully do some good.

Kintan · 31/12/2018 14:03

thighofrelief101 That’s amazing! I’m so glad your dad pulled through, how wonderful. Fingers crossed mine will too.
PickAChew sounds like you’ve had a really tough time, I hope next Christmas is a better one and your dad returns to full health.

Crunchymum · 31/12/2018 14:05

Food isn't too bad but booze is insane.

I have 3 bottles of prosecco, I don't even drink prosecco!!

2019Reasons · 31/12/2018 14:08

An enormous box of posh Italian biscuits someone gave us a gift.

A couple of tubes of Pringles.

A bottle of dark rum and a couple of bottles of red wine.

That’s it! Polished off the meat by the 28th and didn’t ho mad with chocolates and cakes etc this year.
