Whenever I look online for clothes I always use the filter option to select my size which is a 20. Why do the majority of clothes then pop up for maternity wear!! Not every size 20 woman is pregnant... may be they should have 2 options when selecting larger sizes such as 20 (pregnant) or 20(just fat) grrrrrr

@MadamJosephine I think they've changed the pics and the model since I bought mine, but pretty sure it's these:

www.yoursclothing.co.uk/black-tapered-trouser-p

I'm 5'3" and they are the only ones that aren't too long. I have two pairs in a size 18 and they've lasted me 2 years so far!

Elephantina · 31/12/2018 00:23

Incidentally, I have criminally ugly legs and would never wear a mini skirt even if I were a size 8.

Nice tits though.

Tigger365 · 31/12/2018 00:24

I’m a size 24 and if I want to wear a mini skirt I fucking will. I dress for me, nobody else.

The PP who said 16 is plus size, shockingly it’s 12 in some places Shock

Birdsgottafly · 31/12/2018 00:25

SheilaHammond, whenever anyone talks about bigger Women in mini skirts, I think of Nessa from Gavin and Stacy, who I thought always looked good.

BrendasUmbrella · 31/12/2018 00:26

I absolutely don't think 'fat shops where fat people can shop should be the norm.

And they're not the norm. So... yay?

For what it's worth, I was a size 8 until I developed a thyroid disorder. I gained 12 dress sizes in 5 years before the doctor finally diagnosed me. In that time I went to WW and SW, and continued to gain weight while following their plans because my metabolism was fucked. I'd imagine very few people just think "Oh I know, I'll eat pizza and doughnuts until I can't fit into high street clothing anymore, fun challenge!"

If you end up falling ill and gaining weight in the future I hope you'll be embarrassed at how lacking in empathy you were.

Elephantina · 31/12/2018 00:31

Birds I always thought Nessa looked badass too. Terrifying, yet somehow hot.

So anyway, who is starting a diet on the 1st then, now we are too fat to be normal?

AnduinsGirl · 31/12/2018 00:34

Size 24 here - apologies that my existence offends some :D However, while I'm working my arse off and making a difference to society, I'd quite like some pretty clothes to do that in, thanks!
Incidentally, any other big-boobed ladies noticed how the bra style names change as you go up the sizes?! The smaller sizes tend to be be named things like "Heaven," "Lucrezia" or "Jolene." No word of a lie, the ones in Debenhams in my size are called "Doreen," "Doris" and "Maude."
NOT EVEN JOKING :(

recklessruby · 31/12/2018 00:35

Can't believe a UK size 12 is considered plus size. Just congratulated myself on losing a stone and buying a nice size 12 dress.
Fwiw I think clothes should be available in all sizes and larger ladies shouldn't have a stupidly small selection to choose from.

Klobluchar · 31/12/2018 00:39

it’s almost funny that someone thinks plus-size clothing outlets are “the norm”. Our choice is laughably tiny, in fact it couldn’t be any narrower without not existing at all.

If your desire is that larger sizes are pushed to the margins of retail so as to in some way shame us then congratulations, you’ve got your wish

Tigger365 · 31/12/2018 00:44

I’d just like to put out there that it can be as difficult to find the smaller sizes too eg 4 and 6
DTD are 6ft Amazonian goddesses skinny cowbags that struggle to find clothes that fit them

Chouetted · 31/12/2018 00:50

I've ranted about this before, but for tall and broad people, "plus size" can often be our normal, non obese size.

Why the hell should plus sizes not be considered normal? Do people think everyone stops growing at 5 foot 5?

InAPreviousLife · 31/12/2018 02:33

I've ranted about this before, but for tall and broad people, "plus size" can often be our normal, non obese size.

See as a short arse I forget this aspect often, but one of my closest friends wears 18/20 just because of her height and body shape. If you met her you'd just think she was an Amazonian warrior from legend...but she's still stuck with clothes that are hard to find on the high street and the label of being plus size.

brizzledrizzle · 31/12/2018 02:47

Maybe the intellectually challenged on this thread want fatties to either wear saris or shop at Cotswold camping.

WiddlinDiddlin · 31/12/2018 03:18

What would happen if we followed the ridiculous idea that 'making bigger clothes means we normalise being a fattyfattybumbum and that shouldn't be allowed'...

So, no bigger clothes.

So fatties like me, well, we'd either go out naked (oh the anti flab-brigade would LOVE that.. not) or, stay in.

What will we all DO when we just.. have to stay indoors under blankets because there are no clothes for us?

Works out, yep can't do that naked (welllll......)

So, whose funding all these naked fatties who can't leave the building....

Also our heating bills are going to be higher, thats going to cost extra and we can't work so hello tax-paying fat hater... thats on you too.

And as we can't leave the building, we need drs to come to us, thats spendy...

Or maybe. juuuuuuuuuust maybe.... we could all have clothes to fit us all and make us look at the very least, nicer than we probably do naked (and i count the anti fatters in that, hardly anyone looks good in the nip, y'all look at the very least, silly), and we can all go on with our lives doing our own thing.

I really don't think anyone, ever, has thought 'hey, THIS shirts available in a 25XL so pass the pies please, I'm gonna get FATTER'...

littlebillie · 31/12/2018 10:33

Curve is in most high street now

Ollivander84 · 31/12/2018 10:36

14/16 usually high street plus size
Modelling it's a 12 and over - I'm a 16 and model as a plus size

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 31/12/2018 10:42

I am glad to see that there is more choice for larger sizes now. I’m on the smaller end of plus so have always been able to shop in regular stores but it’s bloody ridiculous that it is so hard to find nice clothing in good fabrics without spending a fortune. It is not a fucking criminal offence to be fat and a polyester tent (with some token embellishments to draw the eye away from your “problem areas”) looks good on nobody.

Downtheroadfirstonleft · 31/12/2018 11:09

Anduin, I'm still traumatised by the Doreen bra that was the only thing I could get, as a teenager....

Praise be for Bravissimo.

It's not just you op I get annoyed when I use anything above a size 12 lets say a size 14 and it shows me maternity. I'm not short either Grin

PumpedUpTermite · 31/12/2018 11:16

Obviously larger women can’t walk around naked so I don’t think “normalising” such clothing is the issue here. You need clothes even if you’re fat! And I say that as someone who’s gone down from a 22 to a 16 (still more work to be done I know).

Klobluchar · 31/12/2018 11:23

I like the old lady name bras. Look fabulous under clothes 😕

Bertiebitch32 · 31/12/2018 11:24

@waxahatchee odfod

Hoddykins · 31/12/2018 12:11

Fashion world.co.uk has been a game changer for me as a plus size lady! Gorgeous clothes in (what I consider) normal sizes!

I've found some fab dresses on there and work clothes.

I'm a teacher and one of my 5 year old students once told me "you're a bit fat Miss, but I like it because you give squishy cuddles" So I'm alright not being "normal" thanks Hmm

PissOffPeppa · 31/12/2018 15:32

All these fatties who, like me, want to wear mini skirts, I love Pretty Little Thing. It’s very ‘young’ but it’s filled with mini skirts, bodycon dresses and-god forbid- crop tops. Not a lot of people know they do plus size because they don’t advertise it but I’ve bought quite a lot from them. They go up to a size 28 in some items- the horror!
