To want a Dyson Airwrap

LadyHooHa · 29/12/2018 19:37

My hair is hideously straight. Poker straight. Not-in-a-good-way straight. Just sodding straight.

I have, over the years, spent much money on heated rollers. I've tried blow-drying with a big metal brush. I've tried every effing thing to get a bit of bounce into my stupid straight hair. My current curling device is Remington straighteners - it's fine for about 25 minutes (so long as there isn't a scrap of moisture in the air) but my hair is snapping off at the ends. It's long - or was, until it started snapping off. FML.

I covet the Dyson Airwrap. I could afford it if I gave up eating for several months, and cut back on several other things. But is it worth it?

I can shoulder the blame. In fact, I think it's really all the fault of amusedbush

If I’m going to make poor decisions I’m taking you all down with me Grin

Flannelled · 05/01/2019 21:29

Is the dryer on it suitable to use as an actual proper hairdryer?

pantyclaws · 05/01/2019 21:34

Flannelled since I got it I've not used my other dryer. But tend to use it once my hair is damp rather than wet.

U2HasTheEdge · 05/01/2019 21:51

I ordered it. I had to. I have buyers remorse and excitement all rolled into one. If I don't think it is worth the money I can always send it back.

BifsWif · 05/01/2019 22:19

You don’t need it Lady, and therefore you must buy it.

I intend to send mine back if I don’t absolutely love it. Watch this space!

NameNotImportant · 05/01/2019 23:54

@Flannelled the dryer attachment will get you hair from wet to dry but it's not designed to style so if you want to just rough dry your hair for a tousled look it'll be perfect but if like more control like you get with a nozzle then you may not get away with using this as a dryer only if that makes sense. I usually potter about a bit, out Male up on or something and by the time I go to do my hair it's mostly dry anyway as it's do fine and I use the brush or curler to finish off but I'm really hoping they bring nozzle attachments out that you can click into the dryer head as then it would be totally complete for me :)

I had my hair cut yesterday so went from long fine hair to a little longer than a bob. She took a bit too much hair off and I was worried I'd not be able to use the curler on my are wrap but it's actually even better on my shorter hair. She usually dries with a round brush to add body and it's the first time I've been to a salon since getting my air wrap and I genuinely think the brush attachment does a better job and looks nicer than the salon job. I really wish I was brave as I'd post photos of salon blow dry and my air wrap blow dry.

Flannelled · 06/01/2019 11:05

Thanks for answering my questions. I think I need a hairdryer instead then. I so keep looking at the Babyliss Big Hair though.

amusedbush · 06/01/2019 11:06

I got my dispatch email this morning Grin I was starting to panic as I ordered it on Thursday and I want it NOW but hopefully it should arrive in the next couple of days!

MissMatty2hats · 06/01/2019 11:18

Think I may have posted too soon, the longer I have it the more I love it. The problems I had were more due to technique than the actual Air wrap. My hair looks so shiny and swingy when I dry it with the smoothing brush and I've worked out how to get the curls to last. Definitely give it at least a couple of weeks before you decide if it's for you or not. I'm so glad I didn't send mine back after my early disappointment.

BifsWif · 06/01/2019 11:30

Thanks for updating MissMatty, I’ve heard a few people say they disliked it only to fall in love with it after watching tutorials on YouTube and getting the hang of it that way.

I must step away from
This thread....

I want one Confused

Stopwoofing · 06/01/2019 16:15

Yes I will be evasive on the subject of the price tag whenkt finally comes back in stock on dyson for all the heads.

ElizabethMainwaring · 06/01/2019 19:07

Yes. That's how the ads work. Mumsnet is a site paid for by advertisement. That is how it works. It's not a charity. I think a lot of posters misunderstand the Mumsnet business model.

LadyHooHa · 06/01/2019 20:39

I’m starting to get a bit concerned about mine now. It was dispatched on Saturday but my tracking info isn’t working. I spoke to DX Delivery (never heard of them before today!) and they don’t have any record of a parcel for me. QVC can’t get the tracking details to work either Sad

I need to phone tomorrow between 9am and 5pm so they (QVC) can contact their own carriers to find it 😩

LadyHooHa · 07/01/2019 20:59

Amusedbush (love your username, btw)... I will share your worry, given that I have nothing to look forward to at all. Pah. Will keep everything crossed for you...

I got mine about six weeks ago. I was really meh about it, found it took ages and didn’t think it was worth the money. My husband talked me out of bringing it back. I used it a few times over the holidays, have gotten much quicker, and I am in love with it now. It is a very subtle look, but lasts ages. So glad I invested.

LadyHooHa · 07/01/2019 22:28

I wish you had not told me this, Cailiunna. I want one, but now can't have one!!

OP posts:
BillyAndTheSillies · 07/01/2019 22:35

That's got me worried @amusedbush mine is also showing as shipped but with no tracking details. Didn't have an email saying it was dispatched or anything though. Their postage can take forever.
Hope you manage to get it sorted!
