Hi everyone

I have lurgy and I feel miserable with it. I'm feeling rubbish and drowning in my own snot. Who else is sick? Remedies please! Grin

My Dad has D&V
My Mum has a cold
DH has a cold
One of my nieces has Hand, Foot & Mouth

I have a sore throat and a newborn, desperately trying not to get anything that my family have!

pineapplebryanbrown · 29/12/2018 11:51

Pattern when pg i only vommed during the last month when I had no room left. Incidents during that time included giving two people with bad breath a lift, cue Vom driving with head out of window. Another was a very elderly person with dementia shat themselves a lot whilst standing in front of me. Big vom. Plus vomming all through labour, every second of it. I'm a puker.

Am worried to post this as karma may yet kick my butt.... tentatively feeling a little better today. Still coughing a lot, but less than yesterday, have taken to holding my stomach when I cough as some sort of preventative measure to it falling out 😒

But cough is v much less dry and feels like it's now a cough with a purpose, like it's been on meditation retreat in the Himalayas, rather than the annoying, teenage ne'er do well kicking cans in the street, not achieving anything dry, barking cough of yesterday..

So am keeping fingers crossed that I may just may have turned a corner (either that or about to eat a massive slice of humble pie)

Myrtle me too, i had a great sleep last night and didn't get up till 11. I'm very drugged though and benylin night cough knocked me out for hours. Big thumbs up from me.

Client facing sonreally difficult to be smiley and chatty and have the energy needed (think on my feet all day,no break and fully booked)
Have topped up with coffee during the day as the nausea kicks in randomly every now and then Sad

The cough is tippin gme over the edge along with the headache.

Am now home in pjs and bed socks. Fluffy dressing gown. Doses up with cold and flu capsules and dh just made me a baileys on ice.
Currently lying on sofa watching him wrestle with Xmas tree lights and baubles Grin

Me. D and V bug at the beginning of the month, never had anything like it. Myself and twin daughters were wiped out for over a week.
Yesterday, D and V lite returned. Fortunately it only picked on me.
Today, have woke up with the snot and coughing and spluttering all over.
I think my immune system is slowly dying.

pineapplebryanbrown · 30/12/2018 12:03

Loodally I don't know what's going on. Is this winter worse than others or is it my imagination? Thankfully my elderly parents haven't caught anything.

Loodally · 30/12/2018 12:12

It seems so but maybe we've just been unlucky?

jinglewithbellson · 30/12/2018 12:14

Day 5 here. Woke up with rampant head ache and ear ache to match.

Taken cold and flu capsules and a bucket load of tea and coffee and dh is about to make egg and bacon on bagel which I will be taking back to bed to eat closely followed by more festering.

This lurgy seems to have floored my energy totally.
Am hoping I feel abit better by tomorrow. Have friends round and hosting New Years with games and picky food.

Olddognewtricks2019 · 30/12/2018 12:24

I had flu start of month, cough has persisted and now got second bout of flu. Fed up!

Harryo · 30/12/2018 12:30

I still have the dregs of the cough 7 weeks later. You're in it for the long haul.

BlimeyCalmDown · 30/12/2018 12:40

First defence
Nasal irrigation
Night & day nurse
Anti-histamine (to stop any posta nasal drip turning into a cough)

I had it 1st 2wks of dec and then 2 milder/shorter bouts since :(

myrtleWilson · 30/12/2018 12:44

Still hacking away here but do feel am edging towards a life beyond the cough. But my goodness yes it sapped my energy. A walk round Sainsbury's the other night (I was actually shopping I don't just perambulate the aisles for fun) was exhausting.
Blankets, medicines and helpful partners and families to all those suffering!

arranbubonicplague · 30/12/2018 12:44

All of us.

My throat has been abscessed for days but I don't have a high temperature so don't need antibiotics.

We're all cranky, coughing messes.

Fantastic way to spend our rare time together. Grin

pineapplebryanbrown · 30/12/2018 12:51

I urgently have to do some paperwork but I have no attention span and can't even watch TV properly, only cooking programmes.

I felt shit for 3 weeks, It keeps reappearing then going again 🙈.

shins · 30/12/2018 12:58

Fucking day 4 here. Kids ok but me and dh in bits, coughing, aching, snotting. Worst dose in years. The kids are actually very good, we feel guilty at wasting our time together but we can hardly leave the house. They are watching too much TV and eating sweets, and generally ruling over us all.

pineapplebryanbrown · 30/12/2018 13:46

Porridge has never been so appealing, eating huge bowl of it.

I had to finish my course assignment whilst high on lack of sleep and lemsip. I passed, but only just. This lurgy is draining.

Olddognewtricks2019 · 30/12/2018 15:30

This thread in itself has made me feel a better, knowing that it’s not just me!

Allfurcoatandnoknickers · 30/12/2018 20:21

I started with this on Boxing Day as a tight chest and bad cough and as I always do with any virus, feeling sickly and faint (I’ve got POTS too and viral things seem to set it off).
I’m more peeved as I’ve just done Couch to 5k and am now thinking it’s going to set me back....
What’s everyone taking for their cough? I’ve been taking Bronchostop and drinking lots of big drinks, taking blue inhaler as
I’m wheezy- not sure if anything else to add to that!

Allfurcoatandnoknickers · 30/12/2018 20:22

That should be hot drinks not big drinks....

Readysteadygoat · 30/12/2018 20:27

I've caught the lurgy from my 8 month old. She in turn caught it from DS1. Hers has turned into a chest infection so no choice but to go to the doctors. We went Thursday and our new GP cocked up the prescription and we ended up being there 2.5 hours?!
I do think she's on the mend and hopefully I won't be far behind
