People who say “bits” as in “I got a few bits”

They need to die.

Very naff

OP posts:
IAmAlwaysLikeThis · 26/12/2018 17:12

Jesus nothing do you always nitpick this much?

You must be a right laugh at parties.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 26/12/2018 17:13

There are also the practical implications.

Maybe OP hadn't considered that it is certainly millions of people who will need to be killed.

And they'd have to be murdered - you couldn't have a disease that only attacks people who say "bits", for example.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 26/12/2018 17:16

I'm not the only poster who was rather taken aback by the start pronouncement of the OP, BTW.

I am going on about it because there's nothing on the telly and also because I'm genuinely quite interested in whether OP has thought through what her words would mean in practice.

I'm not upset or offended or anything, I've got celebrations and coffee and a comfy sofa. I've been out for a nice walk. And I still can't think of anyone > whether indidividuals or groups > that I want murdered.

Takes all sorts really, I suppose.

InspectorIkmen · 26/12/2018 17:16

What Nothing is saying is -80 on the ridiculous scale compared to the OP - who has disappeared, hopefully never to be seen again.
What a stupid premise for a thread.

ErrolTheDragon · 26/12/2018 17:18

Only one drama llama appears to have the hump about it.

Is a drama llama with a hump actually a camel?ConfusedGrin

RandomObject · 26/12/2018 17:19

Ugh I agree OP. Not on the wishing death but 'i picked up a few bits' is up there with 'my little family' for insufferable phrases I can't stand.

IAmAlwaysLikeThis · 26/12/2018 17:20

nothing

do you never say ‘my head is killing me’ or ‘oh I could murder a cake’?

Do you only speaking completely literally?

If so, is your TV broken? Cos there are loads of things on my TV.

That’s the level of ridiculousness you’re talking about.

ILoveMaxiBondi · 26/12/2018 17:22

I went to the horse tack shop to look at saddles but just came back with a few bits.

😂😂😂

howtobehuman · 26/12/2018 17:32

People who overreact need to die

NothingOnTellyAgain · 26/12/2018 17:34

I assume you are talking to me?

Or not?

Would be good to know :)

WithAllIntenseAndPurposes · 26/12/2018 17:35

Yy human

NothingOnTellyAgain · 26/12/2018 17:36

Oh that's nice.

Is that directed at me, WithAll?

Interested to know.

brizzledrizzle · 26/12/2018 17:36

What about if you ask for 'bits' at the fish and chip shop? Is that allowed?

Pompombears2 · 26/12/2018 17:37

Sorry I've only just seen this thread, I was busy picking up a few bits and bobs from Tesco Xmas Smile

Bring on the 'bits' people ! (Better than 'buts' which my phone auto-corrected to!)

NothingOnTellyAgain · 26/12/2018 17:40

Lots of people over-react to things.
Again, it would be logistically tricky to murder them all.

However, I supsect that is directed from two posters towards me in particular. Wishing death on one particular person is much more realistic.

It'd be good to get confirmation whether the two posters who have said that want ALL people who (in their opinion? - bit subjective to warrant death penalty?) have over-reatced to anything need to die, or if it's just me specifically that they want to die.

OnlyaMan · 26/12/2018 17:43

NothingOnTellyAgain is quite right in her/his analysis of my linguistic pedantry.
What I should have written, of course, is that the phrase "and bought a few bits" contains no worthwhile or useful information-though it purports to do so, whilst being empty of anything significant.
The hypothetical speaker might as well have said "I went to the shops and did something".
I had time to think up this answer, because I am still on my Christmas hollibobs.
And, ikltownofboothlehem, I have just remembered that when I passively-aggressively ask "Bits of what?", the people I ask do in fact reel off everything they have bought. Either to teach me a lesson, or because my implied criticism of their phrase has gone over their heads.
I must learn to keep my mouth shut.

MaisyPops · 26/12/2018 17:56

What about if you ask for 'bits' at the fish and chip shop? Is that allowed?

Absolutely not... because they are called scraps. Smile

JamieVardysHavingAParty · 26/12/2018 18:02

Malmi Grin Brilliant.

HarrySnotter · 26/12/2018 18:04

I say it. I'm terribly sorry.

I'm not a knobhead though so ...

JamieVardysHavingAParty · 26/12/2018 18:04

Has the OP come up with a method to achieve the objective without ruining the rest of Christmas for the righteous remainder of the UK?

brizzledrizzle · 26/12/2018 18:15

Maisy Scraps are leftovers that haven't been eaten not bits that have fallen off :-)

MrsItsNoworNotatAll1 · 26/12/2018 19:08

I hate Nom Nom Nom. Fucks me right off! Don't wish anyone dead for saying it though.
I say Bits. I don't want reel off all the BITS I've been to the shops for. They've been bought and that's the end of it.

WendyWoofer · 26/12/2018 19:12

We had "bits" for tea yesterday. I'm so pleased you weren't invited OP. I don't need to remove the knife from between my shoulder blades Hmm

Ivegotthree · 26/12/2018 19:14

nothingontelly you ok hun?

We just had turkey pie for supper. It was bloody delicious. And by bloody, please let me explain there was no actual blood.

MaisyPops · 26/12/2018 19:33

brizzledrizzle
Round here scraps are the pieces that fall off so you'd have fish, chips and some scraps.
