People who say “bits” as in “I got a few bits”

PouchofDouglas · 26/12/2018 12:35

They need to die.

Very naff

OP posts:
BumDisease · 26/12/2018 14:01

I agree with you OP but then you had to go and say "naff"...

FestiveLemur · 26/12/2018 14:02

Only on mumsnet do I see people get into such a rage about words like "bits" and "picky" food.

I suppose at least it isn't as bad as that mass hysteria over the word "moist" in the real world.

Anyway, I'm off to have a picky lunch with some bits that DH picked up on Christmas Eve, and you can all deal with it Xmas Wink

brizzledrizzle · 26/12/2018 14:02

anditstillsaidfouroftwo I liked MMM and the messages too.

AgnesNaismith · 26/12/2018 14:03

One of the first convos I had with FIL after moving in with DH:

Me - ‘Do you have any plans today FIL?’
FIL - ‘going to town’
Me - ‘getting anything nice?’
FIL - ‘going to do some bits (severe emphasis on the s) ’
Me - 😐.........

Disembowelling seems appropriate.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 26/12/2018 14:05

Yes AndItStill - I think it might be used in Scotland as well?

AndItStill -

OP and others have expressed that people who say bits "need to die" - a lovely sentiment.

They are the ones calling for others to be killed and I'm interested to know what thay have in mind. On a thread about using language it seems fair enough to ask people what they mean.

Or do other people need to think before they speak but it's AOK for OP and others to assert that millions who use a word they don't like should be killed?

brizzledrizzle · 26/12/2018 14:07

and maybe Sussex since that is where Joyce Lancaster Brisley was from.

DurhamDurham · 26/12/2018 14:10

Naff Grin I didn't realise people still used the word naff! It's a bit naff to use the word naff.

Although I don't wish immediate death upon you and your family.

MsChookandtheelvesofFahFah · 26/12/2018 14:10

Two nasty words just appeared on here 'moist' and 'errands'. I will add 'panties' before I leave the camp and declare to everyone I will be SOME TIME.

MagnificentSevenHeaven · 26/12/2018 14:11

People who say "things" and then expect you to know what they're talking about.

Cunts

Storminateacup1 · 26/12/2018 14:13

Grin So much anger for Boxing Day!

ILoveMaxiBondi · 26/12/2018 14:13

“Bits” (and pieces actually) invokes images of lots of broken parts of Various items in a carrier bag. Who wants bits of anything? You want the whole thing. And your want it whole! Grin

(I’m a bit, genuinely, worried about the poster describing increasingly extreme methods of killing her own children.)

Storminateacup1 · 26/12/2018 14:14

However... people who say textes Angry I get some very real rage right there.

AmIthatbloodycold · 26/12/2018 14:17

I've got to stop reading this threadGrin. Bits, yum, picky, moist Envy

I'm pretty sure the OP meant to be lighthearted. In the same vein as those that want to do unspeakable things to their OH for eating the last kit Kat

NothingonTelly you seem to have taken this very personally judging by the tone and number of responses. It's a thread on MN. Chill

brizzledrizzle · 26/12/2018 14:18

Perhaps you are putting on your panties before going on an errand to buy some moist bits which will take you some time after you have left the camp?

LeilaDarling · 26/12/2018 14:19

I’m assuming the original OP was a BIT (see what I did there) tongue in cheek.
The responses are too funny 😂

WithAllIntenseAndPurposes · 26/12/2018 14:36

I've no idea what I'm finding more amusing. The ops faux outrage over a very legitimate phrase or the very real outrage regarding the ops faux outrage of 'wishing people dead' 😱😱😱😱😱😱
Won't someone please think of the children

Marriedwithchildren5 · 26/12/2018 14:38

**People who say "things" and then expect you to know what they're talking about.

Grin i love this.

Member745520 · 26/12/2018 14:39

I daresay Pouch is just having a stir with that wooden spoon some acquaintance gave her for Christmas - you know, the one who thought she'd better get in some extra bits for the unexpected guest? Xmas Wink

NothingOnTellyAgain · 26/12/2018 14:40

I think casually wishing millions of people dead is pretty bad, genuinely.

I just wonder if OP has throught it through. What the aftermath will be like and so on.

What she has actually said > she wants my children to die. Along with millions of other people.

If she's so keen on words then I can only assume she considers what she says quite carefully before committing it to writing.

WithAllIntenseAndPurposes · 26/12/2018 14:41

There really MUST be nothing on telly

brizzledrizzle · 26/12/2018 14:47

The drama about the Duchess of Devonshire that I recorded is surprisingly good.

MsChookandtheelvesofFahFah · 26/12/2018 14:47

If I hadn't already died of frostbite brizzle, that would have been the killer.

ILoveMaxiBondi · 26/12/2018 14:51

I think casually wishing millions of people dead is pretty bad, genuinely.

Well yes, if that’s what had happened, it’s pretty horrible. But we all (you included, despite your terribly acted faux shock) know OP isn’t actually wishing anyone dead.

JamieVardysHavingAParty · 26/12/2018 14:55

Too harsh, OP.

Now, if you'd restricted the death sentence solely to perpetrators of picky bits, you could probably have garnered enough support on MN to topple the present government and install your own fascist dictatorship.

Once you'd got your puppet government sorted, then you could have led up to introducing execution for increasingly minor quibbles.

I hope you'll take my advice on board for next Christmas.

arealnamechanger · 26/12/2018 14:56

Can’t believe so many people are taking the OP literally. Life must be bloody hard for you lot.

“Textes” - yes, anyone saying that should meet a bad end.
