To ask if showing your lady parts is "a thing"

A millennial friend has told me about “you know that thing when you show each other your vaginas?” And on seeing my shocked face didn’t say much more other than to explain she’s been showing a colleague at the work’s party and now is embarrassed
Is the comparison even a thing? Is this normal. It was delivered in a way which suggested it was totally normal like comparing hand size...
So tell me - have I been living under a rock? I’d no sooner display my wares than poke needles in my eyes

I don’t think this has anything to do with being a millennial 🙄

OliviaStabler · 23/12/2018 15:36

Not normal with my friendship group!

SneakyGremlinsBrokeTheSleigh · 23/12/2018 15:36

Bit patronising towards millennials

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 23/12/2018 15:36

I’ve not seen my friends’ genitals.

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 23/12/2018 15:37

(I’m not a millennial but I don’t think that particularly matters).

NotSuchASmugMarriedNow1 · 23/12/2018 15:37

YABU - I've shown my fanny to all my friends and colleagues. How come you haven't?

PorpentinaScamander · 23/12/2018 15:37

Apparently I'm a millennial. I have no desire to see my friends genitals. I doubt they want to see mine either. How weird.

MissIndependent18 · 23/12/2018 15:37

I think I'm a millennial, and I've not seen any of my friend's.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 23/12/2018 15:37

Er no.
No, I've never done that.

Armadillostoes · 23/12/2018 15:38

I can confirm that this did NOT happen at my work Christmas party and if it had I would not have participated and would probably now be suffering from PTSD. Not a "thing" as far as I know.

legalseagull · 23/12/2018 15:38

Don't people stop doing this around age 7?

squaksquak · 23/12/2018 15:42

Sometimes I just lie with my legs akimbo in the office so my colleagues can all get a good look

Abra1de · 23/12/2018 15:44

We all do this in our village. It’s part of the normal greeting. Bit chilly in December.

redandyellowandpinkandgreen99 · 23/12/2018 15:45

Not the done thing unless you're a massive attention seeker!

OnAScaleOf1to10ItsA7 · 23/12/2018 15:45

I’ve had two tricky births. The whole world has seen my genitals.

kaytee87 · 23/12/2018 15:47

What's being a millennial got to do with it?
And no, it's not a 'thing'

squee123 · 23/12/2018 15:47

totally standard in my office. How else would you know which vajazzle kit would best suit the colleague you picked in the Secret Santa?

Polkapjs · 23/12/2018 15:49

See this is my exact point. It was introduced as perfectly normal so I wanted to check. Added millennial bit in case it was because I am old I haven’t been party to “you show me yours” since, as you say, age 7!

OP posts:
FadedRed · 23/12/2018 15:49

I am not a millennial, but in the past I have seen lots and lots of genitals, a few belonging to friends and work colleagues and a couple of friends and work colleagues have seen mine.

However................I worked in gynaecology for eighteen years. Bit of an occupational hazard. Grin

thefinn · 23/12/2018 15:51

Absolutely not! And my feelings are similar, many things I'd rather do. Weird.

Oysterbabe · 23/12/2018 15:51

Mine's my profile picture on FB, totally normal.

userschmoozer · 23/12/2018 15:52

This took me straight back to when I was 6 and invited for tea at a friends house.
Weirdest tea ever.

supersop60 · 23/12/2018 15:54

Not normal.

pisspawpatrol · 23/12/2018 15:55

I've never shown mine to (medical examinations aside) or been shown anyone else's! I'm a millennial. I don't think it's normal to show your colleagues your vulva or well... anything.

BlueSuffragette · 23/12/2018 15:56

Er no. Not for me.
