What is the first thing you would think of? Would you give it a second thought at all? This is just a poll cause I wanna know.

I’d assume a medical condition or side effect of medication

TonicClonicAndTheWaves · 23/12/2018 08:12

Parkinsons would be my first thought.

Unescorted · 23/12/2018 08:13

I would assume that he has the same fine tremor as I have had since childhood and not give it any more thought.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 23/12/2018 08:13

Too much caffeine
Nervous/anxiety
Adrenaline/agitated
Drug/alcohol use/withdrawal
Neurological condition

Any number of things really. I wouldn't give it a second thought unless he gave me another reason (concern for welfare, erratic behaviour etc.) Why do you ask?

Lemoneeza · 23/12/2018 08:13

Medical issue or alcohol dependency.

Felicitycity · 23/12/2018 08:13

My son has them. There s absolutely nothing wrong with him. We don't know why.

ShesABelter · 23/12/2018 08:13

Nerves or possibly medical like asthma my brothers hands tremble non stop due to his asthma.

Handprints2018 · 23/12/2018 08:13

All the time or as a one off? Hands can get shaky from anything: nervousness, illness, dehydration, hangover....

No way I'd make a judgement there unless they looked like they were going to keel over. In which case i ask if they ok first.

HowDeep · 23/12/2018 08:13

Medical condition, low blood sugar, low blood pressure, alcohol issues.

Birdsgottafly · 23/12/2018 08:13

I'd also assume that there was something medical going on.

ConfusedWife1234 · 23/12/2018 08:14

@TonicClonic Can young people get Parkinson? Really?

OP posts:
Namedrama · 23/12/2018 08:14

I’d guess anxiety as I often have trembling hands due to that.

Or caffeine withdrawal, or I suppose other withdrawals.

A lot would depend on the context and what I knew about his personality and life style.

Grimbles · 23/12/2018 08:14

He has a tremor that has been exacerbated by something. I get one sometimes when holding a mug of coffee in each hand.

He's cold

He's nervous

Doje · 23/12/2018 08:15

Medical / that's just what they do.

I knew a guy like this at uni. It was never discussed tbh.

abcriskringle · 23/12/2018 08:16

My brother had this as a teen and was then diagnosed with epilepsy. It stopped once he was on medication.

FlibbertyGiblets · 23/12/2018 08:17

Why are you asking OP?

Wrt young man, do you mean an older teen, a schoolboy, a bloke in his twenties?

I could think DTs you see, but not in a teenager I don't think.

Unescorted · 23/12/2018 08:17

felicitycity I hate them too..and likewise no known reason for them. It annoys me that people assume I am withdrawing from alcohol or drugs or I have some neurological disease. I don't just shakey hands.

cheesenpickles · 23/12/2018 08:17

If he works a manual job it could be white knuckle.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 23/12/2018 08:18

I have trembling hands. Always have. Don’t no why. Not Parkinson’s as I was investigated for this.

Stuckforthefourthtime · 23/12/2018 08:18

My cousin has this, it's a condition he was born with that has otherwise very little impact on his life. Interestingly he has a job that requires a very steady hand and he's absolutely fine with that - it's only at rest that it trembles.

RedDwarves · 23/12/2018 08:18

Too much caffeine
Low blood sugar
Nervous/anxious

They would be my first thoughts. I likely wouldn't think anything beyond that.

steff13 · 23/12/2018 08:19

#Can young people get Parkinson? Really?*

Michael J Fox was diagnosed at 29. I'd call that young. The youngest on record was 12.

BertrandRussell · 23/12/2018 08:20

Depends on many factors. My ds suffers from anxiety and the first sign is his hands starting to shake.

chemenger · 23/12/2018 08:20

Nerves, or something medical. Students are often shaky when they come to see me, but I am terrifying.

ivykaty44 · 23/12/2018 08:20

Hyperthyroidism has a typical tremor

Why do you ask OP?
