It’s chaos in Trump’s world, more so than usual, with #TrumpResign trending in Twitter after a number of key debacles: the pull-out of US troops from Syria, the resignation of General Jim Mattis, and the shutdown of the government over Christmas due to bipartisan disagreement over wall funding. (Those are just 3 issues.) The next few weeks will be rocky.

The Governor is deft and his son is cute.

They could compromise on the propaganda and add a fact check delay or split screen, as some people have suggested. It also looks like lots of people won't bother to tune in as a protest.

Republicans on the Hill are sweating. To sum up what I’ve heard: They don’t know Speaker Pelosi’s plan. They don’t know what Trump will do next. They don’t know who’s going to prison next. They don’t know what Mueller’s still doing. They know they can’t keep defending Donald.

The fact-check delay and split screen sound like a really good idea.

I like David Packman, although I haven't watched his videos in some time. Good analyses. :)

I think we may have mentioned it here before, but his sniffing is a sign of lying and being uncomfortable. As noted, he sniffed a lot.

Actually, I don't think it's a widely talked about (the sniffing). I've made the correlation, at least. And I think we talked about it here.
But it does become more obvious when he's talking bullshit (more than the usual spin) and he knows it.

Schumer and Pelosi to deliver rebuttal to Trump
Get ready for Chuck and Nancy.

The official Democratic response to Donald Trump’s televised address to the nation will be delivered by Democratic leaders Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi.

The move by Democrats to offer a rebuttal came after all major US networks and news channels heeded the White House’s request to carry Trump’s remarks live.

In a joint statement on Monday, Schumer and Pelosi called for Democrats to be given equal airtime. The networks subsequently agreed.

It was not immediately clear who would deliver the counter-speech on behalf of Democrats, but it was confirmed on Tuesday that it will be none other than Schumer and Pelosi themselves.

The two leaders will speak to cameras from the US Capitol.

🚨 NEW: Paul Manafort's attorneys failed to properly redact their filing. They reveal that Mueller alleges Manafort "lied about sharing polling data with Mr. Kilimnik related to the 2016 presidential campaign". Konstantin Kilimnik has alleged ties to Russian intelligence.

I have not tried this but apparently you can copy the redacted parts, past them into another doc and the redaction is cancelled.

I've heard before of redaction issues – people pasting black boxes over text and the like.

Erm, who has screwed up here? The person who uploaded the documents to documentcloud ? Or the person who supplied the document to whoever uploaded them?

Is is definitely Manafort's attorneys who are at fault?

I don't think it was on purpose.

So, Pence was on a morning news interview and (according to DH, I was out of the room) was apparently doing the 'advance guard' prep work (ie ringing alarm bells about immigrants) for Scrotus to declare a national emergency tonight.

A constitutional expert was on MSNBC last night and said that basically Scrotus can declare an NE, but getting money apparently still needs go to thru Congress.

I know I need to watch this, it's so important to stay informed with one's own ears, not just rely on news reports of what he said. But (excuse my frankness) it's like watching explosive diarrhea. There may be a good reason to watch (like it's your DC or whatever) but that doesn't mean it doesn't make you retch.

I really have a visceral, physical reaction to his face and voice, even if he's saying something innocuous. I need to conquer this.

DH and I were perusing the document. DH thinks that it was released that way on purpose since a lot of the redactions are Manaforts rebuttals to allegations. He thinks they think it will draw more people to read his rebuttals. idk🤔
