To ask which of these pictures to give to my mum?

I like landscape photography.

My mum said back in the summer that for her Christmas present from me she would like one of my photos framed (bless)

I've narrowed it down to 3 but not sure which to choose.

Can I borrow some mumsnet wisdom to help me decide?

By the way this is not a fishing for compliments exercise, I am no David Bailey (he's a photographer...right?)

The first one! By miles! Made me go 'wow', so that's a compliment to you! Decor irrelevant in my view - I'd love to have that on my wall regardless Smile

SciFiScream · 17/12/2018 12:38

No 1 has the wow factor. No 2 isn't great (IMHO and sorry!) No3 is a bit "mass produced" - lots of photos like that. Could be any image taken from the internet of a black and white stream on a long exposure

No 1 has more of you as artist in it.

Dreamscomingtrue · 17/12/2018 12:40

Isn’t the fourth element air? So a photo with wind in it?

I like number 1 best
Then number 3
Number 2’s nice but I prefer the others

As others have said it depends what room that it will hang in. The Colour scheme and the natural or artificial light in each room might make a difference.

Polkasq · 17/12/2018 12:41

The middle one is the most uplifting IMO.

justilou1 · 17/12/2018 12:42

I love the first one, but if she loves neutrals and couldn't handle her colour scheme being interrupted, maybe the third one. The first one is spectacular, though!

BertrandRussell · 17/12/2018 12:44

Could you frame one but in a frame you can take the back off and give her all three mounted so she can swap to suit the season/her mood?

AdaColeman · 17/12/2018 12:45

Number 2, the rocks and heather, nice range of colours and play of light, a recognisable place, and very easy to live with.

flumpybear · 17/12/2018 12:51

1 or 3 ... for me I'd be putting a blue hue on 3 if possible but that's because I love grey and blue 😉
Great pix

CazY777 · 17/12/2018 13:05

No 3 has my vote, I would hang that in my house

californiascreaming · 17/12/2018 13:05

I like 1 and 2, colours of 1 would probably suit my living room/hall, the pinks in 2 would suit our bedroom or the guest room.
Not a fan of 3 - nicely done but i'm not a fan of that style and in a wierd way it looks of a period and shop bought rather than personal.

bruffin · 17/12/2018 13:06

I dont like the middle one , too much sky and doesnt obey the 3rds rule.
I really like 1 and 3 but it does depend where she is going to put it

JaneJeffer · 17/12/2018 13:20

The thirds rule is nonsense IMO

Robyn1986 · 17/12/2018 13:21

The first one is my favourite

Littleraindrop15 · 17/12/2018 13:22

Love all of them would say number 3 would go with her decor

brizzledrizzle · 17/12/2018 13:26

With the right photo composition you don't always need to adhere to the rule of thirds - some of my most popular photos don't stick to it. I wouldn't say it is nonsense because it can sometimes make photos more appealing to the viewer without them actually knowing why but it's not the most important thing; it's a good rule of thumb for people starting out in photography IMO but when you are more experienced you can do things differently and get a stunning photo.

JaneJeffer · 17/12/2018 13:37

I just think it makes them a bit samey and less interesting to me.

Reaa · 17/12/2018 13:39

I want the 1st one

Your mum can have 2nd one

Grin
bruffin · 17/12/2018 13:46

Brizzled
The composition isnt right though on the middle one. The colours are nice, but not sure what they would be like enlarged.

DorisDances · 17/12/2018 13:59

They are fab - the middle one is most all year round although perhaps least challenging

Limensoda · 17/12/2018 14:12

Number 3.

Bluntness100 · 17/12/2018 14:17

One and three are fab. I'm not a big fan of number two I'm sorry, it looks a bit mundane to me, but get others like it.

I'd probably go number one, becayse it's likely the most recognisable as a place. Number three is more generic.

You're very good.

woollyheart · 17/12/2018 14:19

Number 3 is gorgeous.

Penhaligon · 17/12/2018 14:33

Number 1- gorgeous colours and vibrancy

KeepingEveryoneSafe · 17/12/2018 14:40

1 & 3 are lovely and would both fit with my house style but 3 sounds like it would be better for your mum plus it's my favourite.

furrysheep · 17/12/2018 14:42

As she has mostly light grey walls i would go with no 3. I think it's the nicest anyway. All fab though.
