To ask which of these pictures to give to my mum?

I like landscape photography.

My mum said back in the summer that for her Christmas present from me she would like one of my photos framed (bless)

I've narrowed it down to 3 but not sure which to choose.

Can I borrow some mumsnet wisdom to help me decide?

By the way this is not a fishing for compliments exercise, I am no David Bailey (he's a photographer...right?)

The middle one is lovely, it’s very fresh and vibrant.

SaucyJack · 17/12/2018 11:28

The first one is most appealing to my taste.

It also might suit an otherwise neutral room as a high-contrast feature.

The middle one is my least favourite. It’s a well taken photo, but it’s not “of” anything in particular IYSWIM.

starkid · 17/12/2018 11:28

They're all lovely, but I think the middle one will go best with light grey walls :)

ApolloandDaphne · 17/12/2018 11:31

No 1 is my favourite. It has an almost spiritual feel about it.

No 2 is a standard landscape. My least favourite.

No 3 is very artsy. I like the feel of the water moving in it.

Notrusthere · 17/12/2018 11:32

Apollo I think you've summed up how i feel about them

I would be very happy with any of these but I’d pick the black and white one if asked - I could look at that one all day long.

Notrusthere · 17/12/2018 11:34

What type of person she is is quite hard to sum up. Art wise in her house she has a lot of different types. My dad paints so she has a lot of his up, some are quite bright.

I'm tempted to get 1 and 3 both done. I think she would like 2 but I'm not particularly proud of it

I think the third one is the most striking but would it get lost on the grey wall? The first one is my least favourite as it looks like a fire to me. The second one is pleasant.

Notrusthere · 17/12/2018 11:35

Some of your comments are inflating my ego. I'll be going into business if you keep it up 😅

Number two or three for me.
I'm not sure I like the composition of number one so much.

shirleyschmidt · 17/12/2018 11:40

They're all gorgeous and it's very hard to choose because all are so different to each other. If it were my house I'd probably go for smaller versions of all 3, in a row in a triple frame. There's no bad choice though!

ApolloandDaphne · 17/12/2018 11:43

No trust here I am glad I summed them up correctly. I am currently revising for an art history visual test and was trying to use my analytical skills to assess them!

Lovemusic33 · 17/12/2018 11:44

Yes, depends where she’s going to put it. I display some of my photos on my wall but they are probably not my best photos, I love black and white, you last photo is probably the best (love long exposure shots) but being on the wall in a bright living room would not do it justice. The 3rd photo is lovely and colourful so I would probably chose that one.

Lovemusic33 · 17/12/2018 11:45

Sorry, meant number 2 not 3.

formerbabe · 17/12/2018 11:45

I like number 1 best.

SaucyJack · 17/12/2018 11:45

Yeah, I like the element thing too.

What starsign is she? Just pick the corresponding fire/water/air/earth to that if you can’t decide otherwise.

Mayhemmumma · 17/12/2018 11:45

Two is very pretty and the colours are fresh. It's not boring just not as dramatic as the other two.

1 is my favourite but I personally wouldn't want number 3 up as it's too dark for my taste. Nice shot though.

I think a mini frame of all three would be lovely, I'm sure your mum would be super proud.

gottastopeatingchocolate · 17/12/2018 11:48

All 3 are lovely. But you know your mum and her home best.

From what you have said so far, I'd go with 3 (but that's my favourite too!) but I haven't seen her house.

Number 1

peachgreen · 17/12/2018 11:52

1 or 3. The colours in 2 are lovely but I don't think it's quite so well-framed (more a comment on how well-framed 1 and 3 are rather than a criticism of 2). Beautiful shots.

Papergirl1968 · 17/12/2018 11:52

1 and/or 3. They’re all good photos but those two “speak” to me and would work well on a wall, whereas I don't think 2 would work as well if it was enlarged.
You’re very talented.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 17/12/2018 11:54

One. Two is too flat and horizontal and three is too monochrome and ubiquitous. One, however, has real depth and originality. It's gorgeous.

rebelrosie12 · 17/12/2018 11:55

One.

ElainaElephant · 17/12/2018 11:56

1 or 3.

But 2 is pretty much what I see every day so maybe I'm biased against that one.
