Sitting here eagerly awaiting 5pm when I'm off work for the rest of December! Using up all my annual leave so I'll regret it in a few months but hey ho! Do you get a Christmas break? If so, how long are you taking Xmas Smile

@Ragwort
Thanks for the reply.
Hmmm, I can see that being annoying, having to lose holiday at other times when it'd be more convenient. But I guess the upside is knowing you'll spend Christmas at home and for those families with children and another parent who had to work Christmas, having one parent at home and childcare - that's always been my nightmare, the days when nursery was shut and having family that had to work Christmas too threw up a few childcare issues. As well as missing out on family Christmas. But then the upside is the only limitations on my holiday time is if you don't get in fast enough and there's too many off! Or the last 2 weeks in December when we're not allowed to time off. So I get my full holidays and take them when I want.
I'm just grateful to have Christmas day and new years day off this year (working the nights before though)
I knew when I started the job I'd need to work and I guess growing up in a family where someone was always at work over Christmas it's just normal to me.
Xmas Smile

Finishing Friday 21st and go back Monday 7th. 2 days annual leave used at the end. Counting the hours.....

Aragog · 15/12/2018 09:24

I break up on Friday next week and then the two weeks school holidays off.
Dh finished that Friday too, back in for the day on the 27th, then off for a week.
Teen Dd is currently in a school trip in Spain. She arrived home late Thursday next week and has INSET on the Friday.

We go on holiday on the 28th for a week, then back to work and school the Monday after.

NHS nurse here, I'm actually finishing next Thursday and don't go back to the second. I'm very fortunate to work in an area which close bank holidays and as long as there are enough staff to cover the reduced lists we can take annual leave. I worked in a different area last year and so worked Christmas so looking forward to this break with the kids this year.

My workplace closes down from the Friday before Christmas until NYD but I have booked that Friday 21st and 2nd Jan off too.

At the moment I'm on maternity leave but i work in higher education so we normally close the day before Christmas eve and go back the day after new years day. No annual leave needed Smile

Late afternoon Christmas day is when I finish Xmas Smile

Gillian1980 · 15/12/2018 10:45

Last day is Thursday 20th and back on 7th January. We usually take a long Christmas break instead of a long summer break.

Shoxfordian · 15/12/2018 10:49

Last day is Christmas Eve and back on 27th Sad

ForalltheSaints · 15/12/2018 11:20

Last day is the 21st as I have taken Christmas Eve as leave.

AlwaysWantedToBeATenenbaum · 15/12/2018 11:36

fibonaccisequins · 15/12/2018 12:05

Having been an NHS nurse for years, I'll be enjoying finishing at lunchtime on Friday, and not going back til 4th Jan. I've done my time Xmas Wink
