Sitting here eagerly awaiting 5pm when I'm off work for the rest of December! Using up all my annual leave so I'll regret it in a few months but hey ho! Do you get a Christmas break? If so, how long are you taking Xmas Smile

Merrychristmasyoufilthyanimals · 14/12/2018 17:10

Friday 21st, then off til 2nd, my first christmas off this year as i have my step kids and Im going to rome for new years! so fucking excited!

TheBaltictriangle · 14/12/2018 17:11

I break up on Thursday 20th until Monday 7 Jan. A nice long and much needed break, I'm just going to hibernate for a fortnight.

LoubyLou1234 · 14/12/2018 17:11

I'm working over Xmas (NHS) I do have 3 days off together over New year which isn't bad.

MarshaBradyo · 14/12/2018 17:11

Now!
But we’ve booked a holiday so leaving early

BarbedBloom · 14/12/2018 17:12

Finish next Friday. We close completely between Christmas and New Year so not due back till 2nd Jan but I took annual leave and am not due back till 7th. Cannot wait.

MarshaBradyo · 14/12/2018 17:13

Not back until 7th which is brilliant

U2HasTheEdge · 14/12/2018 17:13

Working Xmas day and NYE but have the days in-between off.

Palegreenstars · 14/12/2018 17:20

We’ve just been told we are closing Christmas week paid without having to take holiday. A lovely surprise. My last day is Thursday and I can’t wait to hangout with my kid and eat cheese.

Arnoldthecat · 14/12/2018 17:24

Im working 23/24/25 ,,essential services...cant say im bothered, christmas is crap. Im off new year but purely by default not design or desire..

elQuintoConyo · 14/12/2018 17:25

Thursday 20th, after i crawl home from the work dinner (only 5 of us) ds finishes the following day at 1. We both go back on the 8th January.

I am ridiculously excited!

And i am as enthusiastic about the cheese as a pp - i can calmost smell it!

NewGrandad · 14/12/2018 17:26

Finish the 21st and not back until the 7th. One of the good things about this job.

DarlingNikita · 14/12/2018 17:27

I work for myself so it varies year on year. This year I'll finish on the 24th but have to get back to work after a few days. I don't mind. I don't bother with Christmas and think, beyond the day itself and Boxing Day, which I like to take off to relax a bit, it's just dead time; I'd rather fill it with work.

JudasPrudy · 14/12/2018 18:59

I'm surprised lots of people are back on the 7th!

Where i am, 6th January is a holiday. As it falls on a Sunday, the Monday is a holiday instead. Schools start back Tuesday 8th.

IWouldPreferNotTo · 14/12/2018 19:24

After years of having a team who don't celebrate Christmas and were happy to provide cover in return for me providing cover for their festivals I'm now in the position where I'm the Christmas cover.

Luckily it's working from home and bank Holidays have a longer response time but I'm doing the whole holiday period including new year.

Can't complain though as it's flexible, reasonable etc.

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 14/12/2018 19:26

Finish weds 19th. Back on weds 2 Jan but have friday 4th jan off as well.

Athena51 · 14/12/2018 19:26

My office is closed from Christmas Eve to 3 January (we are given 5 days at Christmas in addition to our ordinary annual leave).

I'm taking a few extra days so I'm off from 19 December to 7 January and I can't wait Xmas Smile

GobblersKnob · 14/12/2018 19:27

Finish on Christmas Eve and have 6 days off.

Ragwort · 14/12/2018 19:32

About 4pm on Christmas Eve and back at 9am on the 27th, I genuinely don’t mind, I knew a career in retail would always involve working around Christmas (& I am fortunate in that we don’t open Boxing Day), I don’t think it’s a particularly good time of year to have leave. My DH has to take annual leave & is off from 21st Dec to 2nd Jan, and not particularly happy about it - I am hoping he will do some decorating. Teenage DS is off on a school ski trip & not bothered if we are around or not.

Kittenrush · 14/12/2018 19:32

NHS so no time off and the nursery is shut so DH will have to take some leave the days I’m working, we’ll only get the weekend after Christmas together this year Confused
One day I’m going to get a job in a place that shuts over Christmas and I’m going to dance for the entire Christmas period

Spicylentil · 14/12/2018 19:33

Sad no time off and not allowed to put in for annual leave either! Working 25th, 28th and the 1st. My dh and kids will all be off for 2 weeks. I’m very jealous of everyone getting a long break at Christmas 🎄

LittleLlamaontheduskyroad · 14/12/2018 19:35

Working all over xmas and new year, inc xmas day, nye, nyd etc.

MonsterRehab23 · 14/12/2018 19:37

Finish up on 21st until the 4th Jan. This is the first year I’ve had Xmas off [Xmas Smile.

Thesmallthings · 14/12/2018 19:38

I finished today for 3 wonderful weeks.

I work in a nursery, normally it's only 2 weeks but because of how the funded hours fell this year we get 3 weeks.

My children finish on the 21st. For 2 weeks. So I have a week of free time. Instance some day drinking Grin

PatchworkElmer · 14/12/2018 19:39

Finished today! I’m now on the train home.

Like you, I’ve rinsed my annual leave and will regret it later, but I am so completely exhausted and run down that I don’t think I could drag myself through another week. I’ve got 3 days off on my own next week, which will be weird!
