Sitting here eagerly awaiting 5pm when I'm off work for the rest of December! Using up all my annual leave so I'll regret it in a few months but hey ho! Do you get a Christmas break? If so, how long are you taking Xmas Smile

Lovely thread to read for us essential workers

Thesmallthings · 14/12/2018 19:43

withall don't read it then?

It sucks you don't term time of but you chose the job knowing this. Don't piss on other people's chips because they get time off

cptartapp · 14/12/2018 19:50

Practice nurse. Because of the days the bank holidays are this year I've taken four days leave and am off from 21st Dec- 8th Jan. Off to Copenhagen too, can't wait!

Runworkeatsleeprepeat · 14/12/2018 19:50

I've recently changed from working in retail for 23 years to working in a school and you can't imagine how excited I am to be breaking up on Fri 21st and returning on Monday 7th no childcare needed on boxing day this year yipee!

Girlicorne · 14/12/2018 19:52

I finish next Thursday until 7th January :-)

chickydoo · 14/12/2018 19:53

Self employed
Only have Christmas Day and Boxing Day

iLoveFoood · 14/12/2018 19:53

Finishing the 24th and back the 2nd 😁😁😁

AnneEyhtMeyer · 14/12/2018 19:57

Finish next Wednesday, back on 7th Jan. Doesn't come out of my holiday entitlement.

Rarotonga · 14/12/2018 20:03

I finished today and am off for three weeks

I've worked extremely long hours for years over Christmas so this is a huge novelty for me.

rubaduhlo · 14/12/2018 20:04

55 hours work left (Monday to Friday next week)
I finish next Friday at 4. Back in on the 3rd. I can't wait for some time off. And am already so excited for that drive home for Christmas and the song of course.

I feel sorry for those who have to work. I think any non essential workers shouldn't have to work.

Jamieson90 · 14/12/2018 20:08

I finish on the 21st of December and go back on Monday the 7th January. I'm a Teaching Assistant though and my pay is pro rate'ed so while it is lovely to have the holidays I won't be getting paid for them.

Still can't wait though!

ChristmasWrappingTheWaitresses · 14/12/2018 20:10

It's fallen brilliantly here this year so I finish on 20th of December and don't go back until the 7th of January. I've only had to use about 3 days holiday as I don't work Fridays. I am so looking forward to a massive break. We've even managed to squeeze in a week away to the sun.

cstaff · 14/12/2018 20:11

Finish up next Friday until the 7th. Yay can't wait to do nothing. I work for a solicitor so should be back on the 2nd but was due a few days from this year and just added them on. Happy days.

Pinkgin50 · 14/12/2018 20:11

Finish on the 21st , back on the 27th December

Eeyoreismyspiritguide · 14/12/2018 20:14

Working Christmas Day, off Boxing Day, back in 27th and 28th, then 2 whole days off before back in for 4 days. The joy of working in essential services.

Don't tell my DP, but I'm fucking ecstatic about this arrangement as not a fan of Christmas and I get out of cooking Christmas dinner!

isseywithcats · 14/12/2018 20:16

i have this sunday off then christmas day off thats it not allowed touse holiday over christmas or new year as service industry and the only day they are closed is christmas day

plominoagain · 14/12/2018 20:16

Working all over Christmas for the ninth year on the trot . Was supposed to be off Christmas Day until they cancelled my rest day , so now I’m doing 3 11 hour changeovers and a 68 hour week until 7am on New Years Eve . Great .

ClumsyFool · 14/12/2018 20:23

Finish 8pm Christmas Eve and back in 6am Boxing Day, gotta love retail 😂😂 still, I get Christmas Day off which is more than some to be fair!

PlayingForKittens · 14/12/2018 20:25

Working night shifts Christmas day and boxing day. Then I'm off until the 30th. Off for new year though.

Toomanybaubles · 14/12/2018 20:26

I have got eight weeks leave to take before April and am off from 20th until 8th Jan. I will take a couple of weeks off at Feb half term and carry the rest forward.

Looking forward to having all the school hols off but H hasn’t left the marital home yet so that takes some of the joy away.

catgirl1976 · 14/12/2018 20:30

Finish 21st back on the 7th. Literally cannot wait. One more week to go.

Darkestnight · 14/12/2018 20:30

I don't I'm only off Xmas day and the Friday of Xmas week.. The joys of retail...

ShitOnItt · 14/12/2018 20:38

I’m working Xmas eve because we are usually allowed to leave early anyway so I see it a waste of a days leave Grin then I’m off for the rest of the week until the 2nd of jan, can’t wait! Wine

guzzlepuzzle · 14/12/2018 20:39

Next Thursday , got to work half a day between the 20th December and 7th Jan! Wahoo!!

AirandMungBeans · 14/12/2018 20:39

I work term time only, so I finish on the 18th and with the days I work, don't go back until the 10th Jan. I'm looking forward to the break, but not the fact that I won't get paid.
