Sitting here eagerly awaiting 5pm when I'm off work for the rest of December! Using up all my annual leave so I'll regret it in a few months but hey ho! Do you get a Christmas break? If so, how long are you taking Xmas Smile

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 14/12/2018 21:42

I finish at 4pm on Christmas eve and I'm back in work 8am boxing day 😭

RitaMills · 14/12/2018 21:46

Next Friday, back to work 7th Dec. Grin

mrbob · 14/12/2018 21:48

Finish 5pm on Christmas Day and back in 4pm on Boxing Day. Big break for me! 4 days off later that week though so shall hold out for that

GuiltyPleasure · 14/12/2018 21:56

Finish on the 21st, working on the 27th, then off till 9th January

BillyAndTheSillies · 14/12/2018 21:57

We shut down for Christmas until January 2nd. Usually on Christmas Eve but the MD (FIL) decided it wasn't worth opening up for half a day so our last day is Friday 21st.
It's our family business and my first year working there alongside DH. I'm so used to shutting down half day on Christmas Eve and being back on the 27th and getting extremely jealous of DH being at home! So this year it's nice that we will get time off together.

Itswineoclocksomewhere · 14/12/2018 22:45

Finished today Grin to be fair I recently trebled my hours at work and have had the week from hell so am absolutely shattered.
Back in for a short day on the 27th then off again until 2nd Jan. This is the first year in so long that neither me or dp are working Xmas eve so very excited for a relaxed christmas

homeishere · 14/12/2018 22:49

Broke up today at 2pm. Not back until Mon 7th Jan. 😎

BlitheringIdiots · 14/12/2018 22:50

We close our company for two weeks from next Friday and give the staff the extra days holidays in addition to their statutory annual leave. We work hard all year and feel they deserve a decent Christmas bonus and some time off when the office is closed and all have auto out of office messages on

Osirus · 14/12/2018 22:50

I finished on 6th December and go back on 3rd January. I’ve taken annual leave, which actually is only four days due to the days that I work (part time).

My office is closed from 21st December to 2nd January.

brizzledrizzle · 14/12/2018 22:53

Two weeks ago! :-)

JaceLancs · 14/12/2018 23:11

I finish Xmas eve at lunchtime
Not back in till 2nd Jan, but will still check voicemail and emails remotely and do a bit of work in between
I work for a charity and don’t mind giving a bit extra despite being poorly paid

Iknowthatguy · 14/12/2018 23:12

Finish up on 21st and back after the new year bank holidays on the 3rd.
DH off til 7th.

GlitterPixie · 14/12/2018 23:25

I have Christmas Day and New Years Day off this year but that’s not guaranteed every year

Kintan · 14/12/2018 23:35

I'm off from end of the day on the 19th Dec and not back at work until 7th Jan. My work shuts completely from 21 Dec until 2nd Jan so I haven't had to use too much annual leave :)

WhiteDust · 14/12/2018 23:48

Lovely thread to read for us essential workers

I am sympathetic as Christmas is traditionally a time when the majority of people are off work but, you do still get annual leave.
Think of the weeks you'll have where you can take holidays when everyone else is back at work.
Christmas is overrated. Everywhere is busy, it's expensive and everyone is rushing around. I'd swop for time off in January any day.

ShesAnEasyLlama · 14/12/2018 23:51

I was going to be off on leave 24th-2nd inclusive, but I've got pneumonia, so I'm signed off instead. I'd prefer the leave tbh. 🙄

AnnabelleLecter · 15/12/2018 00:00

Saturday 22nd December around midnight back on the 2nd January.

eachtigertires · 15/12/2018 00:34

I have Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day off.

MercianQueen · 15/12/2018 00:43

I've never had Christmas off in 18 years. This year, I finish on the 21st and go back on NYE. I genuinely don't know what to do with myself, I'm so excited!

Pinkprincess1978 · 15/12/2018 00:43

I break up next Friday for 2 weeks and I can't wait. I really need a few good lie ins!

icannotremember · 15/12/2018 00:44

Next Thursday, and after that I'm only in on the 28th and 31st until January 7th :)

CherryPavlova · 15/12/2018 00:48

I’ll finish around 2pm on Christmas Eve, work gently through twixtmas and back on 3rd. It’s much quieter than usual though.

JudasPrudy · 15/12/2018 00:48

Yaaay @MercianQueen!
If you're anything like me you'll waste it lying about watching Netflix

Currently on maternity leave, but I work in a job that requires 24/7 staffing, I worked on christmas day last year!

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 15/12/2018 00:52

Broke up today (Fri 14th ) til Jan 7th. Have used a few days of leave outside my allotted days off, but this is my first Christmas out of retail in 5 years. I appreciate that this is no where near as big deal as people working in the nhs & emergency services, but I'm so excited.
