He took DS out Christmas shopping today and after a lot of badgering on my part told me he'd got me seven things in total for Christmas.

Aside an xbox game I've got him I don't know what to get, I wasn't expecting him to get me so much.

Hes getting some walking boots, waterproof coat and a peaked hat as he is a bit fed up of getting cold and wet now he joins me on the dog walks.

JoyofSticks · 08/12/2018 23:18

Nothing yet, I have . no money, dunno what to do, usual stocking of shite [much lower grade] plus me will have to do...

NanooCov · 08/12/2018 23:19

We're also buying each other a fish tank and fish in the New Year

Blondie1993 · 08/12/2018 23:19

A Mountain Equipment jacket he has had his eye on for a while, nice boxers and a bottle of whisky. Will buy him some chocolate too, not sure what yet. I usually get him more things to unwrap but the jacket was expensive and took up most of the budget!

SymphonyofShadows · 08/12/2018 23:21

A tonic suit that he chose. It’s not here yet as it’s being made for him. The Trojan Records 50 years boxed set and accompanying book of sleeve designs.

scrivette · 08/12/2018 23:21

Socks, boxer shorts, a couple of bottles of ale and a Lego Crane.

CaptainCarp · 08/12/2018 23:23

A PlayStation VR which I keep telling him is far to expensive & he'll need to save money he gets at Christmas.
He keeps dropping me hints of what he wants for Xmas & when I asked how he knew I hadn't got him something already he said "you haven't been to any shops without me". So I think he'll be really surprised when he opens it Xmas day because apparently Internet shopping & delivery to another family member doesn't exist Grin Wink

BikeRunSki · 08/12/2018 23:25

Pencils with his name on.
He uses proper ordinary pencils a lot at work and is always mosning that there are never enough and no one thinks to order any because they all just do their drawings/calcs on the computers.

Sailinghappy · 08/12/2018 23:28

A designer coat he wants from his favourite shop, also a surprise scarf and leather gloves from the same place and his usual aftershave. Also a gift card for a sports massage at a place he fancies trying.

Ive done the usual stocking of little bits and bobs: smellies for the gym, fancy training socks, chocolates he likes.

From dc we’ve been working on a special painting of Baby Shark and Daddy Shark (don’t ask - they love dancing/‘singing it together) 😂 I’m planning to put some Aquarium tickets in with it so we can all go and see the sharks together in the holidays.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 08/12/2018 23:28

So far I've got him 4 pairs of jeans,a shirt,2 t-shirts and a jumper,a pair of shoes and a pair of trainers(the trainers he'd been looking at but hadn't treated himself to)some new pj's and socks and 2 football tops for the team he supports,1 is the new shirt and the other one is a retro one from when they had a big win.

I'm also buying him a new coat, some designer boxers,a book he wants,a lock box filled with rum and treats he likes to eat and bits for his stocking.

Is he currently naked, or has HE decided that he needs a load of new clothes, or have YOU decided that he needs a load of new clothes?!

Is it a 'thing' that adult men either chauvinistically expect their womenfolk to buy their clothes for them or don't really care about replacing what they already have? It doesn't seem to happen the other way around (well, not for clothes that are intended to be seen in public anyway Grin).

I wonder is this because men can't be bothered to buy their DWs & DGFs clothes, don't understand the world of women's clothes or are frightened to in case they get it completely wrong?! Too big: he thinks you look fatter than you are; too small: he's telling you that you ARE fatter than you SHOULD BE?!?! Grin

Also, genuine question: do adults normally tend to have a stocking? Confused

biscuittime · 08/12/2018 23:28

So far ticket for a comedian he likes, and a nice bottle of wiskey.
Will also do buy him a top, jeans, socks pants etc

MrsStrowman · 08/12/2018 23:29

Tickets to see his favourite comedian, new trainers a graphic novel I know he wants i managed to get signed by the author and some stocking filler bits, chocolates, socks, smellies, new PJs, a book, oh and a batman keyring/multitool (in joke). We've set a tighter budget this year, new baby.

Brigante9 · 08/12/2018 23:29

He just had a week in America to watch football so has said that's his Christmas and birthday presents sorted, but of course I got him a very posh version of his favourite bourbon too. There will no doubt be chocolate too.

He's got me a sweatshirt for the yard and Harry Potter in French.

It's a bit of a sod to get presents these days when people just get what they want when they think of it.

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 08/12/2018 23:31

A new sat nav and Hugo boss trainers

Maelstrop · 08/12/2018 23:33

@WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll

Blimey, is your Christmas name Grinch?! It sounds like the poster is getting practical stuff for her dh. Maybe he likes her taste and prefers her to get his clothes or maybe she's just spoiling him and why shouldn't she? My dh is too particular so I can't get him clothes.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 08/12/2018 23:36

@Maelstrop

Not at all - just curious - and it got my mind meandering in general! Smile

ImogenTubbs · 08/12/2018 23:38

We are both going to a posh hotel for a couple of nights in Jan as our present to each other. But I did but him a garden badminton set this morning! Will probs add in a few books and some chocolate for good measure.

Maddy70 · 08/12/2018 23:43

A whisky tasting experience

Lynne45 · 08/12/2018 23:47

Nothing. We’re going to book a night away instead of presents. Might get him a little thing but I’ve no ideas yet.

Giggorata · 08/12/2018 23:50

An Eric Ravilious print, the 3ft long chorizo sausage from Lidl, socks and so on and some booze.

Justkeeprollingalong · 08/12/2018 23:53

A Musto fleece
A Boden jumper
Bottle of port
2 novels
An adjustable spanner (the only thing he asked for).
🎅🏽

Notgoodatchoosingnames · 08/12/2018 23:54

He's bought you 7 items. Could be 7 token gestures... 😉

WaxOnFeckOff · 08/12/2018 23:54

A New FitBit
A Bottle of his favourite whisky
A packet of peppermint creams
A new belt
A tub of protein milkshake stuff
A cat tea towel

And i've still to get him a book.

He usually buys me a pile of stuff but nothing is likely to be particularly expensive but it's always stuff i want/need and I'm really hard to buy for. I've asked for a purse. Maybe your 7 things will be like a bag of sweets, a keyring, a book etc so I don't think you need to go overboard.

cricketmum84 · 08/12/2018 23:56

We are skint this year so not spending much. I've been ordering photos from free prints over the last couple of months. Got about 100 from kids being born, holidays, memorable events etc and ordered a photo album for £8 from amazon with spaces next to each photo for the kids to write a memory for each photo.

NotMyOriginalName1 · 08/12/2018 23:56

Lots of great ideas for the other halves here, I hope you guys don't mind if I pinch some Grin

@Sailinghappy I absolutely LOVE the baby shark/daddy shark idea and accompanying aquarium tickets! That bloody song is the theme tune in our household too at the minute Grin
