... what subjects would you revise?

I am going on a well-known TV quiz show. I’m an ridiculously excited. I’ve been really depressed lately and am on maternity leave and this has really cheered me up.

However, I’ve just realised that I should probably revise some shit... Filming is in less than a week and I don’t want to embarrass myself but it’s lookimg increasingly likely!

If you had 5 days until you were quizzed on a wide range of general knowledge what subjects would you concentrate.

Where I’m reasonable:

Monarchs
American TV
Science
Literature

I’m going to try current affairs and politics, history, geography but they’re such wide ranging subjects - which bits would you concentrate on?

Geography - countries and capitals. By country I mean a sovereign state that's a member of the UN in it's own right, obviously.

God - reality is setting in and I’m feeling a bit ill.

Could you watch loooooaddds of quiz shows and get the pause button ready. Look back at the ones you struggle with and write them down to revise.
Rivers, capital cities always seem to come up. Presidents of America, political parties and number one artists?

If you are on pointless elements of the periodic table comes up lots.

I watch them ALL! I love game shows so that’s a great plan! Hopefully I can cram a bit whilst hanging about as my show is the last one of the day.

I love it and honestly am so shocked I got through the audition, let alone invited to one.

Nobel prize winners in different categories come up a lot on the chase, as do odd-sounding animals/insects. Have a look at the New York Bestseller list, and memorise a few facts about our planets. Good luck!

American states, capital cities, American presidents, flags, distances e.g. distance from Lands End to John O’Groats (sounds weird but does come in useful!), also have a good read of recent news.

If it’s the one I’m thinking of then I’ve been on it as well.....I got caught though!

Planets are sorted thanks to my child’s encyclopaedic knowledge.

Great about Nobel laureates. And insects is an excellent call - I never know those.

The chase is quite a range of subjects. Good pub quiz style questions. Perhaps you could find some pub quiz games online or acting as if you were trying to set up your own pub quiz.
There is also a chase app 😊.

Sports is my weakest subject.

My brain is quite good at picking up and remembering random facts except for sport, it just blanks it out.

I would work on the element table as well. I know the basics and the most known but everything else I sometimes get confused about.

Thanks to the Animaniacs songs I know all the American presidents and most of countries of the world circa 1993.

Is it Pointless? Revise the periodic table.

Another thought - word meanings. Like Oxymoron, Similie, etc - they come up a lot. Old English words for stuff, Latin variants.

And there's always a bit of Greek mythology!!

And African countries, the Central African Republic is usually pointless.

Periodic table is ok I think thanks to Pointless!

I would revise Kings and queens because I am hopeless at those.
