...if you were going on a TV game show...

... what subjects would you revise?

I am going on a well-known TV quiz show. I’m an ridiculously excited. I’ve been really depressed lately and am on maternity leave and this has really cheered me up.

However, I’ve just realised that I should probably revise some shit... Filming is in less than a week and I don’t want to embarrass myself but it’s lookimg increasingly likely!

If you had 5 days until you were quizzed on a wide range of general knowledge what subjects would you concentrate.

Where I’m reasonable:

Monarchs
American TV
Science
Literature

I’m going to try current affairs and politics, history, geography but they’re such wide ranging subjects - which bits would you concentrate on?

Royalty.

Questions on those topics always seem to come up on The Chase.

Oh definitely worth looking up winners of major tournaments eg Wimbledon and other opens, world cups, masters..going back 20 or so years

If you don't know much about cricket then look that up. I had two cricket related questions.

Practice your response times for buzzing in case you get through to the final chase. I knew so many of ours but missed out on the buzzer because we had someone else who was always half a second faster than me. We'd have had about 3 more points if I had buzzed first.

Hi all - update as promised!

I had my filming and had an utterly great day.

I’m not allowed to tell you the results so all I’ll say is I didn’t embarrass myself which was what I was most worried about.

The best bit was The Chaser felling me I was a good quizzer and asked if I did lots of quizzing when the cameras were off for a bit.

Life. Complete.

The states of America is a good one. Lots of games with the letters they start with etc. Good luck - I’ve been considering doing this myself!

The Dark Destroyer was the quiz master at a quiz i went to last year. He and his partner were really friendly and we had a good night, but he's much better at answering questions than asking them! I want to apply for the Chase but I'm sure I will fall apart and make a show of myself.

I don’t know if I can! I best not but it was so much fun - the banter and the questions etc.

Gretchen - just apply - it’s great fun. There’s no shame in getting caught. All I’ll say is I didn’t get caught, but I would’ve on two of my team mates’ rounds - the questions are just about luck.
