What side is your hand soap ?

AIBU or is it a bit control freaky to move someone hand soap? A friend came round for a coffee and used the downstairs toilet. When I used it later on, I noticed the hand soap was on the wrong side.

I have an antibac pump hand soap, nothing fancy, but very easy to use, doesn't need picking up to operate. I have it on on the left, but she moved it the right hand side- this is weird behaviour right ?

She probably didn't even think about it. It might have fallen over and she just put it back without noticing or worrying about where it was originally.

theaudacity · 07/12/2018 17:20

She probably knocked it into the sink by accident and then just put it back in the place that came naturally to her. I knock the soap over all the time because in most sinks there doesn't seem to be enough space for it to sit comfortably

PerkingFaintly · 07/12/2018 17:21

This is a very important question for me, too. I have been pondering soap placement recently.

I do not live a very exciting life.

Fluffyears · 07/12/2018 17:22

Mine is on the right

Omzlas · 07/12/2018 17:23

Mine's on the right. I use pumps that are easy to use one handed and we're all right handed

PerkingFaintly · 07/12/2018 17:23

Mine is currently (experimentally) on the left.

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 07/12/2018 17:23

Mine is on the left (I am left handed and don't know if that's why)

HappyEverIftar · 07/12/2018 17:25

Hmm, we live and work abroad and in this house the hand soap is on the left.

In our house in the UK it's on the right. Wonder what that says about me? Confused

Yellowbird54321 · 07/12/2018 17:25

You have it at the side!!!! Shock

This would not enter my head and it just would not be right!

Mine is always in the middle!

goes for a little lie down to recover from the shock

DramaAlpaca · 07/12/2018 17:26

Mine's in the middle because that's the place it fits best.

hohohobags · 07/12/2018 17:27

Hmmm well I think it's unlikely to be knocked off on the left .. see my downstairs toilet diagram. Plus my sink edges are flat, but I know what you mean about ones with the old school soap bar shaped sides.

What side is your hand soap ?

@Yellowbird54321 I couldn't have mine in the middle because my taps in the middle and there's only space to the left or the right.

hohohobags · 07/12/2018 17:30

@WhenISnappedAndFarted my diagram is inaccurate, I actually have a single mixer tap too Grin

Is your abroad house south of the equator? Or if you're on the equator, shouldn't you be putting the hand soap in the middle?

Doghorsechicken · 07/12/2018 17:33

I’ve never realised but the soap pump is always on the left in our house! A subconscious thing obviously.

CryingMessFFS · 07/12/2018 17:34

Always in the middle between the taps.
She probably knocked it into the sink and plonked it back down without thinking

marcopront · 07/12/2018 17:35

It used to be on the left but I have recently moved it to the right. This means I can put my phone on the left because that is nearer the toilet.

RavenLG · 07/12/2018 17:36

You have it at the side!!!!

I would struggle getting mine in the middle as the taps are rather inconviently in the way.

Left side here but right handed. We used to have a pump (also on the left) but switched to bar to try and ditch plastic.

Tiredmum100 · 07/12/2018 17:37

Depends on which room you're in. Kitchen sink it's on the right. Downstairs toilet in the centre. Bathroom upstairs depends who ever used it last. I usually place it back to the right though ( we have 2 bathroom sinks) as it's closer to the towel as obviously my little darlings can not shake excess water off their hands so it's less distance to drip.

Perfectly1mperfect · 07/12/2018 17:38

I think you clearly have some issues that need addressing and you must seek therapy as a matter of urgency. The root cause of your indecisiveness must be found. 😂

hohohobags · 07/12/2018 17:38

But if she did knock it off by accident, it still means that she thinks it should go on the right Shock

AnastasiaVonBeaverhausen · 07/12/2018 17:40

Does your penguin always face due south? Grin

I do move handsoap sometimes without thinking, as am (very) left handed. Mine is in the middle!

DoYouLikeBasghetti · 07/12/2018 17:40

Mine is on the right, but that's only because it's hiding a chipped tile Wink

HappyEverIftar · 07/12/2018 17:40

Buteo our house abroad is in the ME, so north of the equator (just). Both houses have mixer taps so I really can't understand why in one, all hand soap is on the left (ME) and on the right in the UK.

Maybe I'm subconsciously adopting the local custom knowing you wash with the left (hand) Grin

Allthewaves · 07/12/2018 17:41

Left. I'm right handed so put right hand underneath and pump dispenser with left
