To take Dd to Hospital

Wallywobbles · 06/12/2018 19:24

So Dd12 had a sore tummy yesterday. It's a band across her stomach from under her tummy button to the top of her thighs.

Last night she did 5 poos and vomited multiple times in the night.

This evening the pain is worse. 9.5/10. Pain killers are making no difference. Spasfon no difference either. She has a temp of 38.7. No vomit and no poo. She feels like she needs to poo. She hasn't eaten all day.

I've rung the French equivalent of 101. They said wait to see Dr. appointment at 11.45 tomorrow.

Tonight is the big student night so hospitals will be full later.

Do I go or not?

I hope your DD makes a speedy recovery Flowers

Thedukes · 08/12/2018 18:56

So glad to hear surgery was successful. Not sure what the various things you mentioned are, but it sounds like she desperately needed surgery.
And now for a speedy recovery for her!

littlemisscomper · 08/12/2018 19:00

Thank goodness it's all in hand now! I'm sorry it's all so extreme though, poor munchkin. Fingers crossed she'll have picked up a lot by Christmas. The idiots who sent you home and the JD who suggested it want slapping. Angry

Eatmycheese · 08/12/2018 19:05

Goodness me, I’m so relieved you got to the bottom of her pain and that you used your super mum instincts.
I wish your daughter a speedy recovery and hope you all manage to have a lovely family Christmas. She has a great mum in her corner, seriously.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 08/12/2018 19:49

Oh blimey. Well done you for persisting. I hope recovery is quick.

Itshouldbebetter · 08/12/2018 20:08

Poor love. That's very tough. But she's in the right place. My dd had peritonitis last year and emergency surgery. It was very frightening with sepsis. Was in hospital 3 weeks but is now a picture of health. Take care of yourself too. Flowers

Rachie1986 · 08/12/2018 20:15

Oh goodness. Your poor poor daughter. I hope she makes a quick recovery xx

amymel2016 · 08/12/2018 20:18

Oh crikey OP, I hope everything goes ok. Do you have someone with you? Flowers

TheFairyCaravan · 08/12/2018 20:31

My jaw dropped when I saw your update of what they'd found.

I do hope she's soon on the mend. 💐

Haggisfish · 08/12/2018 20:33

I also hope she recovers well.

Sexnotgender · 08/12/2018 20:36

Burst appendix is horrendous!

My nephew had one and spent about 2 weeks in hospital. My brother had taken him to the doctor at least twice in the week leading up to it and was told it was a virus.

LeopardPaws · 08/12/2018 20:39

Your poor DD! No wonder she was hurting so much. Hope she recovers soon xx

HPandBaconSandwiches · 08/12/2018 20:46

I hope she recovers quickly and easily OP.
If you have the strength for it later, please consider questioning the decision to send her home the first time. I can’t believe with that history, fever, raised white cells and a sky high CRP, that they didn’t scan and keep in overnight at least. Pretty questionable management. The whole story screamed appendicitis from the very start.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 08/12/2018 20:49

Your poor dd!! Hope she starts feeling better soon

ChasedByBees · 08/12/2018 20:52

Has she had her operation OP? I hope she’s feeling better now.

Pfingstrose · 08/12/2018 21:14

Really hope all is going well now 💐

frothy · 08/12/2018 21:28

My daughter had exactly this earlier this year and it ended up being appendix. Please get it checked. Our was a horrible experience oh guess work until too late

Mishappening · 08/12/2018 21:38

I am so sorry that your poor wee lass has been through so much; and that the diagnosis period (and thus her suffering) was so prolonged. I do hope she will be recovered soon.

It is interesting how tests and scans feature so highly in diagnosis now. My OH is a retired GP and appendicitis was diagnosed on the clinical history, examination and symptoms. I have to say that your lass would have been in theatre getting sorted a very great deal sooner.

What a dreadful time you are all having. I send all good wishes. x

KittensAndChristmasCake · 08/12/2018 21:45

Thank goodness they've finally treated her.
But how come posters on here could tell those results were not right but the hospital couldn't and sent her home and wanted to send her home again? Bloody frightening.

Hope she's better soon, OP 🌸

thesepretzelsaremakingmehungry · 08/12/2018 22:51

Christ that is terrible. So lucky she has you for her mum advocating for her. I wish her a speedy recovery. BiscuitThanks

thesepretzelsaremakingmehungry · 08/12/2018 22:52

Sorry no idea why the biscuit is there.

kisscub · 08/12/2018 23:05

Having just been through a very similar experience of being sent home & my DD ending up extremely ill (only with her brain not her abdomen) I just wanted to say well done for sticking to your guns OP.

I could smell infection on her too. Doctors thought I was barmy.. but I was right!

Hope she makes a full, fast recovery.

Pieceofpurplesky · 08/12/2018 23:07

Hope
Your Dd is ok Op Thanks

donajimena · 08/12/2018 23:14

That's awful. This happened to a friend of mine. She had a tough recovery but is doing ok. I really hope she is ok.

mummymayhem18 · 08/12/2018 23:54

I hope she's soon on the mend and back home again with you. Take care.
