AIBU to be glad Chris Evans is leaving

Getting fed up of him promoting his mates/people who scratch his back. He lives in a world where everyone is middle class and wealthy with young kids and this is who he broadcasts to. Yes, I know I can turn him off and will do so - the Noel Edmonds back-slapping and promotion interview has just pushed me over the edge!

I can't stand me, me, me Chris Evans, especially when he's doing children in need week.

LuckyDiamond · 06/12/2018 19:35

Zoe Ball. Eugh. Surely not everything is that lovely and wonderful and exciting and gasp-inducing. Geez, calm down

Certainly not her marriage

Beaverhausen · 06/12/2018 19:40

Can not stand Chris Evans but even less so Zoe Ball at least we have Sarah Cox for the drive time yippeeeeee!

Ilovedotcotton · 06/12/2018 19:58

What I love about this thread is the love for Ken Bruce. I just love him and dread hearing that he’s going to retire (he’s about 67 I think). He’s the only one with the warmth and wit of the Togmeister.

thepotato · 06/12/2018 20:29

Unkind post LuckyDiamond.

ringoargh · 06/12/2018 21:21

@Wooooooooaaaaaaaahhhhhhh
Just noticed your username, a childish part of me wants to change mine to woooooooaaaaaahhhhhh

Wooooooooaaaaaaaahhhhhhh · 06/12/2018 21:31

You could do it! It would confuse the hell out of me mind....

A580Hojas · 06/12/2018 21:32

So relieved other people have noticed about Sarah Jarvis!

Yes, it's definitely time for CE to leave. I love Zoe Ball and am really looking forward to her starting. Of all the others, I'm absolutely desperate for them to ditch the hideous Jeremy Vine.

LuckyDiamond · 06/12/2018 21:41

Unkind post LuckyDiamond

You’re welcome 😇

WindyWednesday · 06/12/2018 22:06

Is Ken Bruce that old? I thought he is in his 50’s.

WindyWednesday · 06/12/2018 22:07

I have to switch off with Dr Sarah Jarvis. Her wet mouth sounds so awful. I wondered if it’s nerves on air, and she’s ok the rest of the time.

rockingthelook · 06/12/2018 22:36

Yes, glad he is going, it's all me, me, me with CE, it's very easy to have an easy come, no worries attitude when you are as minted as him, he has loads of cars worth an absolute fortune. I can't abide the kids chat at 7.30, the 500 words, leave it out, I don't care. He pontificates about the most random things, get over yourself Chris, I bet his wife loves the peace when he is out of the house. I loved Terry, sometimes I would be sat in my car in traffic absolutely hysterically laughing at some of the things he said, I'd look around and others were also laughing in their cars too. I think Chris can be very passive aggressive, I remember Johnny before Vassos, CE was horrible to him, on the verge of bullying, but pathetically sycophantic with Moira, but Zoe Ball will also be rubbish, rabbits on about sod all, think I'll be changing stations until Ken comes on, but keep on Graham Norton, Liza Tarbuck, Paul O Grady and Michael Ball

roisinagusniamh · 06/12/2018 23:00

Recently I have been switching over to R4, especially when CE was overcome with emotion about some trite thing a kid said on 'Good morning Chris'
He needs to get over his self congratulations on being a father too .... bloody hell , he's a old boy to have kids that young !

TheClitterati · 06/12/2018 23:08

I can't wait. Bbc2 mornings might be played in our house again.

Bring it on!

noodlenosefraggle · 07/12/2018 00:12

Yes him and Vassos are like they are in their own club. They use the show to talk about themselves all the time. The endless shoving of his kids onto the radio. Tarquins first piano concerto. I quite like my own kids. They are endlessly fascinating to me. I'm fond of the kids of my family and friends. Random other people's kids I don't know? Couldn't give a fuck.

Patroclus · 07/12/2018 05:52

Chris Evans is in fact the only man in the world who has children.

maddiemookins16mum · 07/12/2018 06:36

Can’t abide him. Shouty, those silly ‘banana’ jingles etc. Last week he spent 20 minutes mocking Germans and this week there was a discussion about how the roads are quieter on a Friday. Why you ask? Well it’s because some kids don’t go to nursery on a Friday because they stay at home with their mum because she loves them 🤔. All this from a bloke who appeared to take no leave when his wife had twins (in case you didn’t know).

keely71 · 07/12/2018 06:44

Yes, you’d think he was the only person in the world who’d ever had kids the way he goes on & on about then. Chris, no one gives a fuck.
And that irritating ‘first time ever’ at 7.30, I literally switch off then.
Vassos also has the most awful voice,
Just can’t wait for him to go.

Greycat11 · 07/12/2018 06:50

Well I'm sad he's leaving and need to find a way of listening to his new show in the car, I'm glad he's taking Vassos etc with him.
Zoe Ball in the morning? God no. Love Ken Bruce, so will tune back in for him when I can.

Eve · 07/12/2018 06:56

I’ve switched back to Simon and Jo recently after giving up in early days and really liking it. They seem to have settled into it and have established a good rapport.

Think radio 2 bosses are managing the whole station very badly though - come across as not knowing their audience.

Alfie190 · 07/12/2018 07:03

When I used to drive to work, I switched to CE when Nick Snaith was replaced with Ronan Keating and Harriet Scott. I thought he did s good show and am sorry he is leaving.

flumpybear · 07/12/2018 07:11

I do like CE but the constant promoting of his friends is a bit shallow - saying that I bought x4 of the QI books for Christmas presents after that interview ... none of the supervet ....

BlueSuffragette · 07/12/2018 07:15

Can't stand all his wittering on, he is so full of self importance. Likes the sound of his own voice far too much. I'll be glad when he's gone.

5amWakeUo · 07/12/2018 07:15

I worked at the bbc. Just before my induction they announced he was coming back. At my induction the facilitator worked on bbc radio 1 and took the opportunity to announce to the room that he was a relentless bully and how disappointed she was in management for hiring him back. I was Shock.

cushioncuddle · 07/12/2018 07:23

I can't stand him. Fingers crossed Zoe has a better choice in music. You'll all probably disagree with me but someone needs to change the play list on most of its programmes.
I think I'm at a stage between radio 1 and 2. Radio 1 is too young and 2 seems to concentrate too much on bland.
Also Jeremy is so passive aggressive and quite rude especially if someone corrects him.
