Getting fed up of him promoting his mates/people who scratch his back. He lives in a world where everyone is middle class and wealthy with young kids and this is who he broadcasts to. Yes, I know I can turn him off and will do so - the Noel Edmonds back-slapping and promotion interview has just pushed me over the edge!

Too shouty. The only good programme was the tribute to Terry when they played his old music. I bizarrely became a fan of stuff like rhinestone cowboy when listening to Terry. Confused
I have long since given up and find Zoe Ball too shouty too although she is an improvement on Evans.

Daisymay2 · 06/12/2018 09:19

Apart from the odd listen to Ken Bruce I have given up with Radio 2. I knew I loathed Chris Evans but I realised how awful Steve Wright is and as for jo wiley intruding on Mayo -ugh. 6Music and R4 for me.

bludgertothehead · 06/12/2018 09:20

You're right. It was ok for a while but lately all he talks about is himself, his friends, wife, kids etc and Car sodding Fest.

I just wish Sara Cox was taking over, she's grown on me and I find her nice and quiet in the morning and she's funny! Zoe Ball is awful.

I'm not in the car when the evening show is on so won't get Sara Cox then.

WinterfellWench · 06/12/2018 09:26

Agree OP.

I loathe the irksome little individual. What does my head in (apart from the fact that he is arrogant, narcissistic, and annoying,) is that he ALWAYS has to mention his 'wealth' and his 5 million pound yacht, and his 25 million pound mansion and so on and so on and so on..................🙄🙄🙄

Horrible little man. Makes me nauseous just looking at his face.

JudgeRindersMinder · 06/12/2018 09:28

Oh god Car Fest! I’m so glad it isn’t just me who’s fed up hearing about that!
I’ll admit I did used to like him but this past year or so he’s been slowly doing my head in, and he’s got even worse the last month or 2-probably because he’s leaving very soon and doesn’t care?
I have my reservations about Zoe Ball but will see how she goes.

I’ll own up to still liking Steve Wright, but I went through my school and student years with him on Radio 1 in the 80s.

Sad to see Simon Mayo going though, well done on that one BBC 🙄

CloudPop · 06/12/2018 09:28

Can't bear that bloody "how do you like your eggs in the morning" jingle

BitOutOfPractice · 06/12/2018 09:28

I am counting down the days more eagerly than he is

All this stop worrying / live your best life / cod psychology is really starting to get on my last nerve

TheGonnagle · 06/12/2018 09:29

I’ll keep Ken Bruce. The rest of them can do one. Particularly Jeremy Vile, who gives me the rage. Why he has to invade the last 30 minutes of Ken’s show I don’t know. Daily Fail radio.

Gardai · 06/12/2018 09:30

I hope Zoe Ball is good, fingers crossed.
I agree it’s all self congratulary super rich chatting to each other.
Would be better if they actually considered going outside the box and getting a presenter who isn’t part of the 90’s millionaire club. Someone new, god forbid !

Truckingonandon · 06/12/2018 09:31

Love Sara Cox and also Vanessa (so intelligent and eloquent) and a bit of quirky Liza too.

morningconstitutional2017 · 06/12/2018 09:33

I could never take to Chris Evans and I'm very much a morning person. To my mind he was much better suited to his previous drive time slot. I'm not very keen on Zoe Ball either - I feel that she gabbles at great speed at times and is not very distinct. Literally due to my bad hearing I can't always make out what she is saying.

I'll continue with my usual routine of listening to the lovely Ken Bruce and then Classic FM before and after his show.

lynnepot · 06/12/2018 09:34

tbh radio 2 has completely gone down the pan the last couple of years. Its only really popmaster that I tune in for half and hour then turn it off again these days.

AdamNichol · 06/12/2018 09:42

I really like Chris Evans and will miss him. I don't agree with all he says and I can't stand Noel Edmonds; however, I like the fact that Chris is cool if you disagree with him - so many others have this ingrained need to be on the popular side of everything.

You might get sick of carfest, but I went and it was great. Between that, dine-and-disco and other promotions, he raised £7m for Children in Need. I don't see Zoe Ball coming anywhere near that.

Would have preferred Sarah Cox to take over as she was easily the best of the cover folk. I have liked Jo Whiley since back in the day too, so I'm cool with her on Drive Time.

Steve Wright drives me up the wall, although I tend to like the music in serious jockin (if not the rest of the concept). I'm at least 10 generations too young for Vanessa Feltz's show (sometimes I get the tail end of this on drive to station - V for victories and all that). And absolutely detest the fake voices doe by Liza Tarbuck, to the extent that I have to turn off the advert for her show.

BitOutOfPractice · 06/12/2018 09:46

This.

Though I'm looking forward to Sara Cox's new show

AnotherPidgey · 06/12/2018 09:53

I haven't had a morning commute for the last couple of years so don't reliably listen until Ken Bruce comes on. CE does feel stuck in a rut on the occasions when I do listen in.

How could I have forgotten about Terry's other listener? Ken has that similar style of a conversation which you feel a part of. He also has a broad Radio 2 demographic play list for people who love music. (Too much vacuous contemporary music on most play lists at the moment)

Not looking forwards to Zoe Ball. Apparently I'm completely out of touch with 21st century radio broadcasting, but I still think that being articulate and able to enunciate properly is a very basic requirement of a DJ/ presenter. Similar to Dermot O'Leary, I can't cope with the gabbling, mumbling and waffle. Zoe just gabbles and waffles faster. Thank good Vanessa Feltz is off air before I wake up. I hate her covering for JV. She struggles to remain impartial and gets ranty over contributors. I like Jeremy Vine himself, I think he does a good job of presenting a diverse range of topics.

Sara Cox is growing on me. I have found myself listening to her at bedtime. Drivetime shouldn't have been messed with, but Jo and Simon seem to have been settling better in the last few months after the initial awkwardnesd between their varying styles.

TJsAunt · 06/12/2018 09:54

See I quite like CE. He has an amazing knack with language and is generally very witty. Also like Vassos et al.

But what I don't like is his pseudo philosophy. Very easy to say "worrying is bad for you so don't do it" or "the morning always follows the darkest hour" when you are that rich!

And while I have been to Carfest and enjoyed it, I hate the Children in need auctions as they are only accessible to the top 0.00001% of the population and it's always the same people who "win". He has accused people who hold this opinion of being whingers who just don't get life (or words to that effect) and that is just offensive coming from someone who is in that top 0.00001%.

So - meh. Was disappointed it wasn't Sara Cox. Not sure I'll get on with Zoe. Will be switching to radio 4 in the morning!

llangennith · 06/12/2018 09:57

Liked CE years ago but not when he returned. Looking forward to Zoe Ball taking over. I really dislike the fad for having multiple presenters on a radio show. It's like they're doing their own thing and I'm eavesdropping. The presenter should be engaging with his/her audience not chatting to each other. Are they really not capable of doing a show on their own?

NancyDonahue · 06/12/2018 09:57

I gave up on CE ages ago and went back to local radio in the mornings. Far better for travel anyway.

I love Craig Charles when he stands in for SW. Lovely warm guy.

Also love Liza Tarbuck and Vanessa.

Coniferhedge · 06/12/2018 09:58

I agree about Chris Evans. Can’t stand him. You all need to start listening to 6Music. Shaun Keaveny is really funny on the breakfast show, though he’s leaving at the end of the year and Lauren Laverne is taking over. I listen to her current show too though and I think she will be okay.

Riotingbananas · 06/12/2018 10:00

I enjoyed the show at first, but it's just him him him now. Oh and the sharing private off air jokes with Vassos does my head in. The difference between him and Terry Wogan is that Terry Wogan was all about the listener. Chris Evans is all about himself.

I'd have loved Danny Baker to take over. He makes the listener the center of everything and is genuinely interested in people. The whimsy of his Saturday show is a delight. Such a talent.

keely71 · 06/12/2018 10:01

His constant ‘stop worrying & just go with the flow’ lectures really turn my stomach. It’s ok for you Chris with 50 million quid in the bank. Remember. not all your listeners can just shrug off major setbacks & disappointments with a cheery ‘oh well, I’m sure tomorrow will be just fine’
Arsehole.
Angry

keely71 · 06/12/2018 10:03

And Tom Odell has literally killed Billy Joel’s ‘piano man’
Stop torturing me by constantly playing it!

mirren3 · 06/12/2018 10:04

Thank goodness I found you all, I cannot stand SW and seem to be the only person I know who hates his show/him with a passion. Shut the fuck up, you're not funny or clever. As for Sunday love songs, I can't explain how much I hate it. If he was chocolate he'd lick himself to death... hopefully!!

Agadododo · 06/12/2018 10:04

Not surprised that he's left (or more likely pushed). He's been a very naughty boy and the BBC wanted to get rid of him before the news comes out.

agedknees · 06/12/2018 10:10

Enjoy ken Bruce’s show. That’s about all.
