Tripped up post office steps

Hi mumsnetters. Hoping you can help me here.

My friend Bos asked me to pop to the post office for him. No problem I said. Always glad to help. But when I got there I found him already loitering and, wait for this, he walked up the post office steps!

AIBU?

She came back but WOULDN'T TELL US? That is a heinous crime.

WildfirePonie · 07/12/2018 15:54

I know him as WELL !!! Grin

LoadOfUtterBoswellocks · 07/12/2018 16:14

The idea of a hoard of malicious Pom Bears swarming out of the post office/library/wherever to trip up the mythical Boswell is actually less weird than the bloody Boswell thing itself.

There cannot be anything to 'get' except 'get excited at the idea of loads of people tying themselves in knots for YEARS trying to work out why the nonsense is not nonsense'.

LizzieMacQueen · 07/12/2018 18:33

You'll know him as well.

malpa · 08/12/2018 08:10

I posted this on the other new thread about Boswell, so I wasn't sure whether or not to post here also...

However, many people watching this thread might have missed the other one (which doesn't have many posts), so I'll risk the wrath of the Mumsnet mods to hopefully - hopefully! - put you out of your misery.

(I'm not saying it's the correct solution, mind...)

Whether it's correct or not, your cartoon is lovely @malpa. It's made me Xmas Grin Xmas Grin Xmas Grin

MyOtherProfile · 08/12/2018 08:20

Can anyone remind me where the old thread is?

CalmConfident · 08/12/2018 08:28

I think it is a mental virus. The riddle needs to replicate itself into a new host. The solution / cure if you are infected is to pass it on to a given number of people. This has now been achieved by this thread.

Like some devilish game of non-joke tag. We are now "it"

coolwalking · 08/12/2018 08:45

Hey Boswellians,

I was the one championing 'I know him as Well'

Doesn't make complete sense I know!

I want closure!

malpa · 08/12/2018 09:43

The idea for that cartoon I posted actually came from my Nan (84 years old). She simply said "Well he's ignoring them for not using his correct name; it's obvious!"

And my Grandad (a sprightly 87-year-old) came to this conclusion:

"Boswell's story is incomplete; he's left hanging. Don't you get it? We are all like Boswell.

"Let me run this by you... There once was a man called Grandad. For short they called him Gramps. And he went to a random place.

malpa · 08/12/2018 09:49

coolwalking We will never get closure. The original OP apparently knows the answer (if one even exists...) yet won't share it - this is relevant. Even if somebody here worked out the correct answer, they could never confirm it without speaking to the OP.

This is the third thread.

And there's a fourth thread

But don't bother reading through it all - you'll be hating me for providing you with the links!

ScreamingValenta · 08/12/2018 09:51

To save time, should you wish, on the second thread there's a list of suggestions near the beginning, of which the OP said none was correct.

FreezerBird · 08/12/2018 10:31

My mum once tripped on the post office steps in Bath, gave herself a nasty black eye. A young man came to help and was most put out (and actually quite annoyed with her) to find she was fine and didn't really need his help. Bet it was Boswell, the pillock.

SorenLorensonsInvisibleFriend · 08/12/2018 10:47

@malpa wins best grandparents award this year!

AviatorShades · 08/12/2018 11:17

Malpa and her Nan are both StarStars Grin

winewolfhowls · 08/12/2018 21:29

I'm - - spartacus - - Bos

winewolfhowls · 08/12/2018 21:37

Malpa, your grandad is so right. We are all Bos.

BoneyBackJefferson · 08/12/2018 21:42

If you are really that bothered just @Killingtime9198 I'm sure that eventually she will give you the answer if you aren't happy with the ones that have been provided.

Personally I am more than happy with

it so that smug pretentious arseholes can get fanny flaps/ a hard on pretend to be better than those that they are keeping enthralled by pretending that there is an answer.
