I have just read forty pages of thread and it’s almost full! Let us congregate here for answers!

Would anyone like to know why a raven is like a writing desk instead

Lewis Carroll does give a (lame) answer to this in one of his prefaces, though he admits it's an answer after the fact and the riddle had no original answer.

TigerDragonMonkey · 06/12/2018 17:15

Instead of why Boswell’s nickname and whatever building he’s approaching is so funny Wink

Indeed Valenta, but I thought it was appropriate :). There was no answer, so he had to backwards engineer one, and now that’s the answer.
A bit like Boswell really. There was no answer, and now we’ve got loads of them!

Batteriesallgone · 06/12/2018 17:22

Late to this thread whoops

Doesn’t appear I’ve missed any big reveal though

LoadOfUtterBoswellocks · 06/12/2018 17:26

I don't know of any other jokes that require the jokee to supply a punchline though.

WHY AM I STILL CHECKING FOR UPDATES, MY LIFE HAS BEEN SUCKED INTO A VORTEX

SonOfSaturn · 06/12/2018 17:37

@SonOfSaturn Dumbledore whats?!!!

Dumbledore dyes his beard purple for Harry's graduation.

Sorry for the scary autocorrect. He definitely doesn't die!! hahahahaha... ha

I would prefer to know why is a toasting fork.

BoswellTheUnreal · 06/12/2018 17:46

Please fill this thread up with place marking like the ones that people actually find useful, then it can die a death along with all the other useless ones.

dogzdinner · 06/12/2018 17:48

They both have legs

SonOfSaturn · 06/12/2018 17:49

Oh I know that one! I'll tell you if you can tell me why the memory we used to share has its world rocked by trees (or cars).

KingBobra · 06/12/2018 17:57

Y is a toasting fork.

BlueThesaurusRex · 06/12/2018 18:13

I like that one! I will take the satisfaction of the toasting fork one and use it to replace the abject misery that this whole Boswell incident has brought into my life

Dairyqueen2 · 06/12/2018 18:27

How many letters are there in the answer to this question?

dogzdinner · 06/12/2018 18:28

Toasting fork one is very good 👍

dogzdinner · 06/12/2018 18:29

Four?

Dairyqueen2 · 06/12/2018 18:30

Well done dogz! That had me baffled for ages when I heard it Blush

VisitorsEntrance · 06/12/2018 18:32

I don’t get the toasting fork.

Dairyqueen2 · 06/12/2018 18:32

Cos a toasting fork and the letter Y are same shape

FuckOffBoswell · 06/12/2018 18:37

Y is a toasting fork
See I got that straight away!

littlepotatoes · 06/12/2018 18:39

I don't get @Dairyqueen2 's one. Now that's 2 riddles that are going to plague me 😩😩

Dairyqueen2 · 06/12/2018 18:41

Littlepotatoes - I simply couldn't get my head round it until someone told me the answer. Basically, the question could be reframed as 'Which word representing a number contains the same letters as that number?" but putting it the way I asked makes it more brainy!

Dairyqueen2 · 06/12/2018 18:42

...the same NUMBER of letters as that number

Sorry - that wasn't helpful!!

littlepotatoes · 06/12/2018 18:43

Thank you!

See @killingtime9198, that's how it's done! Easy!

Zebraantelopegiraffe · 06/12/2018 18:45

My dad used to always say/ask 'What would you rather bee or a wasp?'
