I have just read forty pages of thread and it’s almost full! Let us congregate here for answers!

I like the 'did Boscombe down' and 'what for/four' theories the best.

Member745520 · 04/12/2018 22:00

@Boswell Can't be bothered to go back and check exact wording of the Again and Againagain riddle, but wondered whether the first again is not the name of a person, but means that Againagain for yet another time got on a bus ie 'once again'...in which case the answer to who was left could be nobody? Maybe someone else came up with this solution but I can't read all 40pp to find out!

Also I believe The Game is that you mustn't think of it at all - if you do then being the last person to think so means you lose The Game. So you can type it in somewhere hoping someone will come along and tell you you've made them lose The Game because you've just reminded them of it. I think Grin

I have a baby who hates sleep. I promised myself I'd go to bed at 8 tonight. Instead I read the whole previous thread in eager hope of resolution. Placemarking, even though I know in my heart of hearts that I'll be disappointed...

costacoffeecup · 04/12/2018 22:01

Ah dammit. Placemarking.

mummmy2017 · 04/12/2018 22:02

Ok she said it does not have to be the steps or the post office, or a him.
So he walked upto the library...
Well if the door was locked it is a dead end... Joke...
Meaning there is no answer but you kept trying for one for twenty years...

LightOfMine · 04/12/2018 22:02

@downcomesBos I had the same idea with anagrams too.

Im sticking with my ‘sounds like’ theory though because at least it answers it enough for me to move on and sleep soundly tonight.

“Called him Baz” = “Columbus”.

Who am I kidding, I’m going to keep checking for the correct answer arrrrggghhh Grin

MrsNai · 04/12/2018 22:02

Alphajuliet123 I think that just might be it and we are all stumped because we are looking for a complex solution to a simple joke.

Or maybe it was a very drunken family gathering and no-one could stand to say Uncle Bob was lousy at inventing jokes.

TheMobileSiteMadeMeSignup · 04/12/2018 22:03

Bugger it. Placemarking in case Boswell decides to roll back down or something.

BobDobbs · 04/12/2018 22:05

I think alphajuliet123's theory is probably correct.

And just when I thought this thread couldn't get any more annoying, someone had to mention the Game. Sad

SD1978 · 04/12/2018 22:05

If the friend doesn't give up the goods on Thursday. I am in favour of commencing a hunt for any member of this family that can be found....../

KalindaBlack · 04/12/2018 22:05

This is driving me crazy Confused

BoswellsLastStand · 04/12/2018 22:06

@downcomesBos

And I really think the post office steps must be significant

It's not a common expression like walked down the street or walked off or even just walked up the stairs

Apparently not. You aren't paying enough attention and I'm paying too much! The OP posted on the first thread:

@killingtime9198 Mon 03-Dec-18 14:12:13

More - I asked if he was going to the post office to collect the letters missing from his name. She said no.

He is human and of average stature - his height isn't significant.

He doesn't work at the post office.

It wouldn't matter if he was a woman.

It doesn't matter that he walks up the steps - the joke still works if he just approaches the post office.

It doesn't matter that it's a post office, I asked if a library would also work, she said yes. I said:

'So this works: 'there one was a woman called Boswell. For short they called her Bos. And she walked up to the library'

She said yes.

WTAF.

WTAF indeed say we all here.

Florries · 04/12/2018 22:06

This is ruining my life

Quartz2208 · 04/12/2018 22:07

Was hoping would be over now

CharlesChickens · 04/12/2018 22:07

This is still going on ? No one knows the answer yet ?
Can the op not beg her friend to put us all out of our misery ?

magoria · 04/12/2018 22:10

"There was a man whose name was Boswell, for short they called him Bosandhewalkedupthepostofficesteps..."

And quick as a flash someone wittily intercepted with "that's not short for Boswell!!"

This.

Ngaio2 · 04/12/2018 22:12

This may be a private family secret. When OP’s friend realises just how many people are following this on MN she may refuse to spill the beans

downcomesBos · 04/12/2018 22:13

Damn @BoswellsLastStand i remember OP saying that now

Brain is frazzled

Spotsandstars · 04/12/2018 22:13

It's like the spoons game. There is no real answer.

Butchyrestingface · 04/12/2018 22:13

Thursday really can’t come quickly enough, can it? 😥

dogzdinner · 04/12/2018 22:13

Have we discussed who 'They' might be? (The ones who call him/her Bos)

Frustratedmum78 · 04/12/2018 22:14

Arrrgh, someone mentioned the game, and I’d gone months too! Well nerr, now you have to start again too!

downcomesBos · 04/12/2018 22:14

@Ngaio2 hahahahahahaha that is true

I hope not

downcomesBos · 04/12/2018 22:15

Are we definitely getting an update on Thursday? I don't think OP is coming back 😭

MadameJosephine · 04/12/2018 22:17
