I don't think for a second the OP or Derek actually thinks the answer is 'there is no answer'. The original post was a massive troll. The whole 'no answer' thing is just one way for some of us who are so invested in this to find closure of some sort. We are just trying to solve a non-existent riddle that we have created from thin air.

Personally, my favourite is Boscombe Down. That works (although you need to change OP's specification to indicate there is some kind of "up" - approach doesn't work, but it works in the original) and is funny.

"I know him as well" is also good.

And hey, "four short" is good too. I think we got many more good, actually funny and clever answers than whatever the 'can't tell' answer is or may not be.

So I think we can be happy we now have a whole family of Boswell jokes that are jokes and do work.

after 7 days Boswell comes out of your screen and kills you.

But has the OP got it? Nowhere in that last post does she say that the friend confirmed that she guessed correctly.

I don't THINK she's a troll, she's posted a lot previously about her wedding but I don't think she expected such a reaction so is now rapidly backing off because she doesn't want to ruin it for her friend's family.

I don't believe all the 'there is no answer' bollocks - are the friend's family all philosophy scholars? I'm sticking with coolwalking's theory, it works in a punny way with those particular words and also works in a smug twattish way (if you respond with that particular line you're in on the joke if you don't, ha ha you're an outsider and you'll never be admitted into our inner circle).

The double ll at the end of well might look like post office steps.

The reason the whole thing is so obviously a joke is that every single person who "gets it" keeps it to themselves.

This is the country that hung a banner over the motorway saying "Dumbledore dies". I have to avoid most of the internet the day after an episode of a popular tv show airs because people here LOVE spoiling things. They can't keep their mouths shut! But suddenly the whole country is united in keeping this pointless little riddle a secret.
