To ask whether you think Theresa May’s deal will make it through parliament?

wondering1101 · 30/11/2018 22:02

In your opinion - will Theresa May’s deal be voted through parliament, and if not, what do you think will happen?

What would you like to happen?

(I know it’s been done to death, but I can’t believe what an important juncture we are at).

Whose going to help the poor when a corbyn lead government tanks are economy
,and we are plunged into chaos with the most bitter, acrimonious party in fighting from Labour?

Tories are not united but, unlike Labour there are no talks of a new off shoot tory party springing up.

We would be gridlocked into paralysis.

badlydrawnperson · 02/12/2018 20:45

That was UKIP wasn't't it?

Hilarious anyone thinking the Tories are less divided than Labour.

akerman · 02/12/2018 20:46

That's certainly the impression given by Brexitometers at street stalls, holiday.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 02/12/2018 20:49

There is not much left of the Labour party, Momentum have almost completed their takeover.

It will certainly be interesting if their ever is a vote of no confidence in TM, but I would put money on the Tory party 100% uniting behind her.

Being out of the EU. Doesn't matter if the prison bars are made of gold, nothing beats life in the outside world.
How will you quantify success ?
What will be your tangible proof of freedom?

Elfontheshelfiswatchingyoutoo · 02/12/2018 20:55

The labour party has been in utter crisis for years.

It is a totally divided party with starmer, umma etc on one side and corbyn etc on the other. But it's not just the fact they are divided its the fact the city and even corbyn himself has said there will be a run on the the pound.

Elfontheshelfiswatchingyoutoo · 02/12/2018 20:58

Talking, how many layers of government does any county need.

It's very plainly obvious many leavers don't want layer upon layer of obfuscation.

Politically we should all be aiming for clarity and full transparency. Its impossible to get this whilst the eu forms a layer of government above us.

Talkinpeece · 02/12/2018 20:59

how many layers of government does any county need
The UK has four
Its impossible to get this whilst the eu forms a layer of government above us.
In what way ?

JudasPrudy · 02/12/2018 21:03

'Being out of the EU. Doesn't matter if the prison bars are made of gold, nothing beats life in the outside world. '

In what way will things improve? Any actual facts about how life will improve for us in the UK?

The problem with this question is that you are asking for "facts", when people are actually hoping for something to happen.

Some people on the east coast are hoping that they will get some funds to revitalise the area.

Some mining communities are hoping to attract businesses from non EU places to aid them get work.

Industrial areas that have been run down are hoping to be rebuilt.

The list is endless and different from person to person and area to area.

Hopes, dreams and the desire to try and make things better.

Elfontheshelfiswatchingyoutoo · 02/12/2018 21:15

This may sound a little snippy talkin peace but when I make really important descions I always look at both sides of an argument.

If you have not already done this, I can't help you.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 02/12/2018 21:16

How will you quantify success ? What will be your tangible proof of freedom?

Why do you care if we can 'prove' freedom, surly you want us to be ruled by the EU forever?

Success will be mixed, probably only achieved in steps over time. eq If we are deciding who is allowed into our country, if we are making significant contributions to the EU budget, if the EU is controlling who fishes in our waters, if we are still significantly controlled by EU Judges, if the EU is dictating who we can do trade deals with etc etc but you know all this already.

Talkinpeece · 02/12/2018 21:23

elfon
I am not sure what you mean.
I voted to stay in the EU. O know what long term outcome I wanted from the vote.

I am yet to find a leave vote who can tell me in short sentences how they expect their own day to day life to be better after Brexit

I am therefore concerned that many leave voters will be angry when they do not get what they want
but they have not articulated what they want

Talkinpeece · 02/12/2018 21:24

Boneyback
Everything on your list can be done by the UK Government before we leave the EU
What are the chances that the government will magically decide to do it after we leave the EU?

BoneyBackJefferson · 02/12/2018 21:30

Talkinpeece

The point is that these areas have tried to do this and the government and the EU have not been of any help. Grants refused and given to revitalising areas of cities that have been so revitalised that they are knocking down revitalised areas to be able to revitalise them again.

The hope is that in order to get the money to do this that government will have to restructure and rebuild old industrial areas.

I also don't believe that it will happen once the EU money safety net has gone because those in power are self serving, power hungry arseholes that will make sure that any deal is good for them first, their mates second and everyone else on a sliding scale to fuck all. (just my opinion)

Walkingdeadfangirl · 02/12/2018 21:36

I am yet to find a leave vote who can tell me in short sentences how they expect their own day to day life to be better after Brexit

Why do you keep insisting life has to be 'better' (as adjudicated by you) or we are not allowed to leave the EU?

It will be different (hopefully better) but their is no guarantees. For all we know remainers will be so upset that they will deliberately fulfil their own prophecy of Armageddon. Or Corbyn will become PM, borrow trillions of pounds and turn the country into Venezuela.

Talkinpeece · 02/12/2018 21:40

Walkingdeadfangirl
Why do you keep insisting life has to be 'better'
so you are happy to have voted to make life worse?
great

KataraJean · 02/12/2018 22:08

Well, at least walkingdeadfangirls prison analogy admits the Leave campaign was run by crooks.

To the OP, I honestly would not like to predict an outcome of this. I am not sure what we are gaining through leaving the EU - if it is sovereignty, we were a sovereign nation. If it is controlling immigration, the country has relied on nurses, doctors, and other workers from the EU and elsewhere for years, and immigrants did not only start coming in recent decades. What exactly are we going to gain (rather than lose) by leaving the EU? I am not sure I have ever heard a convincing answer to this.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 02/12/2018 22:12

so you are happy to have voted to make life worse?

No that is an ignorant comment. I voted to make life different. It will be in the hands of British people whether or not it is better. Which in my opinion is a LOT better than sticking your head in the sand and hoping foreign countries throw us a bone every now and then.

BoneyBackJefferson · 02/12/2018 22:13

KataraJean

Does that mean that talkinpeece means that the government is a plane crash?

*so you are happy to have voted to make life worse?

Will it be worse for everyone or just those that are reliant on EU grants?

Talkinpeece · 02/12/2018 22:19

Everyone except the 0.01% who can move their capital abroad (JRM and co)

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 02/12/2018 22:21

UKIP was never a breakaway Tory party. They share similar views with right wing conservatives but it’s a populist party that has across the political spectrum appeal

The tories are certainly divided now but come election time when there is a strong possibility of Labour winning they will unite they won’t make the same mistake as May did in the last election

There is a reason why they are the most successful political party ever

Walkingdeadfangirl · 02/12/2018 22:22

Everyone except the 0.01% who can move their capital abroad (JRM and co) When facts fail, just resort to class warfare!

KataraJean · 02/12/2018 22:36

The government is metaphorically a plane crash, yes, whereas we know that Arron Banks faces an enquiry and was fined for data protections breaches and the Leave campaign broke electoral law BoneyBack so not metaphorically crooks.

I personally think David Cameron and co should be had up in court for recklessly endangering the nation’s economic recovery and international standing, but that is not a charge in law and I do not expect you to agree with me.
