To be devastated?

I found a moth infestation in a cupboard. Obviously have emptied cupboard and fortunately only two items are really affected , which I have thrown out. One was a gorgeous Zara velvet blazer of ds’s. I’d buy it again if I could. I’d buy it in every size from 3 up. He only wore it twice but I loved it! I’ve had a quick look and there’s nothing the same (satin collar, very deep navy or possibly black) and it’s not on eBay. I know this is about as much of a first world problem as you can get (and I’m glad the rest of the clothes which are much more practical are fine). But his beautiful blazer.... :(

Devastated seems a bit much. Sad is understandable.

mimibunz · 29/11/2018 23:01

Yes, YBVU. Zara? 3?? Come on!

Sundayblues13 · 29/11/2018 23:02

Get a grip OP

clumsyduck · 29/11/2018 23:05

Doubt hel want to wear velvet Blazers forever so I wouldnt worry

I found what I believe to be moth holes in my favourite top recently , I was mildly annoyed .

Devastated . Please Confused

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 29/11/2018 23:05

Depending on where and how extensive the damage is you could see if a local tailor could adapt it in some way? But at the end of the day it's just a blazer and he will have lots of other nice clothes in the future :)

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 29/11/2018 23:07

The dictionary definition of devastated is “severe and overwhelming shock or grief” So if you feel like that over a blazer you are being ridiculous, a bit sad is reasonable.

SenoritaViva · 29/11/2018 23:09

Devastated is a total over reaction.

timeisnotaline · 29/11/2018 23:10

Okay fine. Lingeringly mournful? Grin

Hideandgo · 29/11/2018 23:10

He had his velvet blazer period. And now it’s over. And that’s ok.

Yes, you are unreasonable to be devastated about an item of clothing.

Get a grip, and some perspective.

ThanksForAllTheFish · 29/11/2018 23:14

Check eBay for a replacement.

timeisnotaline · 29/11/2018 23:18

I think I should have been more specific in the title plus a lighthearted, so people didn’t click expecting someone to have died. I don’t start many threads, I’ll do better next time.

OP posts:
timeisnotaline · 29/11/2018 23:19

Not lighthearted because it’s a joke but because I recognise it’s just a jacket not actual life and death and will get over it. It was a very beautiful jacket, and he looked so adorable in it. I’m having a moment!

Even Russell Brand is over velvet blazers now mate.

ReanimatedSGB · 29/11/2018 23:25

Aww, OP. Have a Brew. I hate finding that something nasty's happened to lovely clothes, as well. Though our local moths seem to favour the gussets of all my knickers as a snack, which just aggravates me.

Notcontent · 29/11/2018 23:26

It’s ok. When I started reading I thought you were going to say that your collection of Scottish cashmere has been devoured - now that would be devastating! Grin Grin

AGHHHH · 29/11/2018 23:28

I don't think OP is literally devastated by the dictionary definition ffs stop harping on.

Notcontent · 29/11/2018 23:30

Boden currently have some nice boys blazers - including a cool looking one that is embroidered with space themed motifs!

thegreatbeyond · 29/11/2018 23:30

Reanimated - moths seem to like my knickers, too. I don't know what it means, and I don't want to...

Bluerussian · 29/11/2018 23:30

There are some on ebay, I just looked. Might not be the styles you want though.

Reanimated, your post made me lol. You know where to put the mothballs, don't you? That will deter them - and other unwanted guests. You'll grow cobwebs eventually though. :-)

Dotty1970 · 29/11/2018 23:31

From the sounds of the blazer i expect he would be pleased

PurpleFlower1983 · 29/11/2018 23:34

What colour/size was it? Maybe it could be found somewhere! X

timeisnotaline · 29/11/2018 23:35

notcontent they do thanks, and I love Boden, and I also love space themes as great for kids plus gender neutral but here I want plain classic.

timeisnotaline · 29/11/2018 23:36

purpleflower I imagine I will periodically check as and when I am struck by sad memories.

OP posts:
timeisnotaline · 29/11/2018 23:37

Also notcontent I completely agree a Scottish cashmere collection would be a greater loss!
