Amazon Prime Deliveries

Ozil10 · 29/11/2018 20:01

So I've noticed these past couple of weeks, even though I pay for Amazon Prime and the next day delivery, that the dates they are delivered are all over the place.

I ordered two items last Thursday. Was originally told it would be Friday, then changes to Tuesday and in the end I received on Monday.

Another item was meant to be delivered on 07/12, and I had an email saying it was dispatched for delivery today. Mid afternoon I get an email that it had been delayed and it could arrive any time in the next week and they'd let me know.

The reason I pay for Amazon Prime is that I know I'll be in work on the delivery day to accept the parcel and now it's all over the shop.

So AIBU to be expect when paying for next day deliveries for them to actually fulfil this service and not mess me around with delivery dates? It's the changing that's annoying!

I think it’s probably due to Black Friday madness, hopefully proper service will resumez

jpgirl · 29/11/2018 20:06

YANBU!

In Japan, you can choose a 2 hour delivery slot.

Here, you get given 7am-10pm at some point up to three or four days in the future.

Hmm
AnastasiaVonBeaverhausen · 29/11/2018 20:06

YANBU. Complain and you'll get some money back or gift vouchers. I've always found Amazon customer service to be excellent.
It's a time of year that things are often delayed, but if you're paying for same/next day delivery as part of your subscription that should be fulfilled regardless.

LizzieBennettDarcy · 29/11/2018 20:08

I've had parcels turning up all over the place for the last week.

Not that impressed tbh. Never had an issue before.

Ozil10 · 29/11/2018 20:10

I've never had an issue before until these past two weeks. It's really annoying given the fact I pay this money each month for next day delivery.

Thank you for the advice to contact Amazon - I'll do that tomorrow.

I agree Black Friday is likely behind it.

I have noticed it too, ordered something on Friday night, said delivery on Monday so arranged it to be delivered to my dad, who’s retired so would be in the receive it. Got an email to say it would be Sunday, then got a message from my dad on Saturday morning to say it had arrived completely unexpectedly. No idea what was going on!

MrsRhubarb · 29/11/2018 20:35

My orders from Prime have been all over the place for months. It used to always be next day, but now is more likely to be two or three, no matter what I'm ordering. It's really annoying, especially as one of the benefits of Prime was the certaintly of delivery day so I could plan things for when I would be in. It's definitely got worse since they have been doing all their own logistics.

Perfectly1mperfect · 29/11/2018 20:40

I have been complaining to my OH for a couple of weeks about this. He's wasted 2 days annual leave because of it and I've had to change plans constantly in the last 2 weeks so that someone is here to take delivery. A couple of days ago I only just made it home before my son nearly took delivery of something that was delivered late, in packaging that would have totally ruined the surprise. They had changed the date twice and then delivered it on a completely different day.

I've also noticed that next day delivery hasn't been an option on lots of things in the last month or so.

Clearly demand is too high and they need to sort it out. I actually said to OH that where possible I'm going to go back to buying from other stores. Amazon became my go to place for lots of things because the delivery was easy but without that it's losing its appeal.

Ozil10 · 29/11/2018 20:59

I've just called up, and been basically told it's tough that I received an email to say an item was being delivered today and then another stating it wouldn't be! Apparently with Prime it's not guaranteed one day delivery after all Hmm

Frankswife87 · 29/11/2018 21:06

It's why I've not renewed my annual prime membership, so sick of ordering something for the next day for it to be repeatedly delayed late etc or just to be told after placing an order it's not available for the next day 😤

Frankswife87 · 29/11/2018 21:07

Oh and its been happening for a while not just because of black Friday

Cranky17 · 29/11/2018 21:25

Yes I think for me it started around April time, I ended up cancelling in the end

Ozil10 · 29/11/2018 21:27

Surely it's a trading standards issue if they are misleading people into believing it will be delivered tomorrow, and then changing it a few hours later. It's false advertising.

Amazon Logistics have been pretty shocking too.

I agree, waited in all day yesterday for a Prime delivery which was due before 9pm. I followed the tracker right up until 8.55pm when the driver was supposedly 4 drops away and about half a mile. Suddenly it changed to next day delivery. This morning I got an email saying it was damaged in transit and would be returned to the manufacturer and I could expect a refund in 5 days. I spoke to Amazon via the chat link and they called me to discuss it. He told me he would re-order and it would 100% arrive on Saturday. He gave me one months free Prime as compensation- hooray 🤨
Then I got an email to say it would be arriving on Friday instead. I'm not holding my breath

oldsizenines · 29/11/2018 21:46

Am I right in thinking that "prime" no longer means "next day" delivery, it just means free delivery?

I think you have to check whether the item is "prime" as well as available for next day delivery.

It's really annoying - but I think they've changed what they mean by "prime".

John4703 · 29/11/2018 21:49

I agree and everything I ordered used to be delivered by Amazon logistics but recently it has been by a variety of courier companies.

To me the next day (or same day) was the main reason I joined Amazon Prime

Ozil10 · 29/11/2018 21:53

Well to me, if I'm selecting an item and it says "Get it tomorrow, with one day delivery by Amazon Prime". I take that to mean exactly as it says, not that I will get an email delaying it and it arriving on a random day.

So to me, I'm just going off what the website says, if they can't fulfil deliveries they shouldn't even have it as an option.

OP posts:
ghostsandghoulies · 29/11/2018 21:58

In my experience this happens every November/December. I complained and was told tough luck. Every other month I get Same Day or Next Day so I try to order well in advance or from a retailer like Argos if it's an emergency and need it fast.

Perfectly1mperfect · 29/11/2018 22:22

I agree. Even though I pay for prime, if at this time of year they just said 'delivered in 3 days.' I would prefer that to them saying next day and then changing it multiple time.

MrsPeacockDidIt · 29/11/2018 22:23

It has definitely been all over the place the past week for me. I place a large order 7 days ago , all with prime delivery and I’ve received items everyday since. Black Friday and I think there was a warehouse strike too around the same time. Am hoping it’s a blip as normally prime is fabulous.

TurquoiseDress · 29/11/2018 22:27

YANBU

My Amazon Prime seems to have been all over the place for the last week or so, very annoying!

SistersOfPercy · 29/11/2018 22:36

They've totally pissed me off tonight.

Watched the tracking and saw driver was one Street away, flipped on the cctv and see the driver pull up at the end of the drive (tracking on my screen now confirms this).
Driver realises my drive is reasonably long and is raining. Van quickly reverses off and tracking changes to 'delivery before 9pm'. Unsurprisingly it wasn't delivered tonight.

I can only conclude amazon drivers melt in the rain.

Kilicat · 29/11/2018 22:36

This has happened a few times to me recently and is really frustrating. A call to their customer services, or a chat on the online messenger and twice I’ve received a free additional month of prime membership.

BunsOfAnarchy · 29/11/2018 22:38

Mines been amazing (sorry OP!)
I had a prime item that said 2 days later but came the next day.
Its black friday madness i bet. More than likely they WILL offer gift voucher etc if u complain again. Use the chat function if u dont get anywhere on the phone. Tell them you booked a day off work for the parcel or something.

Brazenhussy0 · 29/11/2018 22:48

YANBU. It’s been going downhill for the past year since they switched to doing deliveries themselves instead of using DPD, Hermes etc.

Prime items are also now more expensive than their standard ‘free delivery’ counterparts. So we’re effectively paying delivery costs twice.

If I didn’t use Amazon Video I would have cancelled Prime months ago.
