Amazon Prime Deliveries

So I've noticed these past couple of weeks, even though I pay for Amazon Prime and the next day delivery, that the dates they are delivered are all over the place.

I ordered two items last Thursday. Was originally told it would be Friday, then changes to Tuesday and in the end I received on Monday.

Another item was meant to be delivered on 07/12, and I had an email saying it was dispatched for delivery today. Mid afternoon I get an email that it had been delayed and it could arrive any time in the next week and they'd let me know.

The reason I pay for Amazon Prime is that I know I'll be in work on the delivery day to accept the parcel and now it's all over the shop.

So AIBU to be expect when paying for next day deliveries for them to actually fulfil this service and not mess me around with delivery dates? It's the changing that's annoying!

I think they have more and more 3rd party sellers now, who offer the "prime" service and that's where it's often not next day. yellow maybe the item you ordered was a 3rd party seller fulfilled by Amazon, so the earlier item was 1 third party seller and the same item later was a different 3rd party seller so different delivery times? I don't know. It's so confusing, hence why I'm using them less. I used to live back of beyond so not many shops = lots of online ordering. Now I have returned to civilisation I go to more proper shops

Prime isn't next day delivery - it's next day despatch. Found this out after complaining! However, if you place your order and it says delivery on xx date, and it doesn't arrive, then you should complain and you will generally get a month free Prime - as per post above, I've extended mine by up to six months in the past.
If it's not a bulky item, I've found it better to get delivered to the Post Office near my workplace - it's always there by 11am on the delivery date.

They've been a bit weird for a while. I've had a few things turn up early (not just from Amazon) and I'm sure they think they're being helpful and efficient, but if you're told when it'll arrive, you organise for that delivery slot, not two days before!

I’ve had the same problem with amazon Prime for months. It’s very annoying.

Amazon are no longer allowed to promise 'next day' deliveries:

Delivery where I live seems to depend on which warehouse the items are being shipped from, and what time of the day you make the order.

I agree. I paid for prime on the understanding that it would be next day delivery. I ordered £200 of stuff yesterday ( all except one thing was under the prime label) and all I’ve got is one thing coming on Monday. What’s the point? I’m going to cancel it after Xmas.

HundredMiles I've noticed this about the disappearance of the option for "slower deliveries and a 99p kindle credit". Now I have to actually pay for books Grin

I have to say though, other than the above annoyance, I haven't noticed anything amiss about my deliveries. I live in London - I wonder if location makes a difference? Perhaps we live nearer a warehouse or something.
